My Super Sassy Dad: Stop Running Away, Mrs. Quinn!
Chapter 640: Blinded Eyes
Caleb squinted his eyes, "What else did you set up?"
"You don’t need to know what I set up, you just need to know that I won’t hurt her," Hans Montrose turned around. "This is a contest between Jared Quinn and me, you don’t need to be involved. Just do your duty."
Caleb’s responsibility was only for Melody Thorne’s safety, and anything beyond that was not his concern unless she asked him to investigate.
"Remember what you said," Caleb left the ward.
Next door, Jared Quinn spent almost the entire night holding Melody Thorne in his sleep, his eyes flickering uncertainly.
"Jared, are you really not going to tell her the truth?" Leon Rivers ventured, "I’m afraid if she finds out the truth, she might not be calm for a while, and she may even hate you."
Hans Montrose is beyond cure, he is plagued by illness, yet before dying, he still unsettles Melody Thorne.
"Tell her the truth and then what? Just so she can be blinded by Hans Montrose’s actions?" Jared snorted.
He wanted her to clearly see what kind of a person Hans Montrose truly was.
Leon Rivers remained silent, for now what mattered most was getting Kiki Sutton to wake up; perhaps she would tell Melody the truth.
In her dreams, Melody Thorne was tense, seeing Hans Montrose chasing Kiki Sutton, while Kiki kept screaming, "Don’t kill me, don’t kill me," she wanted to save Kiki but a tragedy occurred.
"Had a nightmare?" Jared questioned, seeing beads of sweat on Melody’s forehead as he looked down, "What kind of nightmare? Didn’t I tell you, I’ll always be here with you?" 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂
"I..." she dreamed of Hans Montrose committing murder, Melody opened her mouth but didn’t speak.
"It’s just past six, do you want to sleep a bit more?"
"I can’t sleep anymore," Melody shifted and realized that Jared had been holding her all night, she placed her fair hand on his face, "You didn’t sleep at all, did you?"
"It’s okay, I’m not tired."
The hospital bed was too hard, he worried she would be uncomfortable sleeping there, so he held her all night.
"Put me down," Melody looked at Jared with concern.
"Jared, we checked yesterday’s surveillance, there were no issues," the doctor dared speak only because Melody was awake.
"Bring up the surveillance, I want to see it too," Melody looked at Kiki.
They grew up together, she simply couldn’t believe Kiki had a history of insanity.
The doctor glanced at Jared, "Alright."
"Leon Rivers, watch over her here."
"Don’t worry, sis."
In the hospital surveillance room, Melody stared at the footage; indeed, Kiki was running forward like crazy, glancing back in terror. In the last scene, Jared’s large hands covered her eyes in time, sparing her from witnessing Kiki’s crash.
"Focus on the front," Jared’s large hand isolated part of the footage, preventing her from seeing the later scenes.
Melody watched the front footage several times, finding no issues.
The monitored area was just in front of the inpatient department, where Kiki ran off was indeed there; everything was reasonable.
"Do you believe Kiki suddenly went crazy?" Melody turned back; she couldn’t believe it.
Jared didn’t answer, his distinct fingers pointed to a corner of the footage, where Melody saw a man behind Hans Montrose. The man took a couple steps as if worried about something, and quickly turned back.
