My System Forces Me to Live off Women
Chapter 428 - 309: Going Home, the Familiar BMW
Xu Manning raised an eyebrow and said, "Both of us are ready, how about you?"
Li Peifeng pursed his lips, "I’m fine too."
Wu Wenyue asked with concern, "Are your uncle and aunt upset? When you were on the phone just now, your face didn’t look quite right."
Li Peifeng smiled with relief, "They’re not upset, don’t worry. They might be planning what dishes to prepare for us tomorrow. Have you packed your luggage?"
"Almost done... You should hurry home to pack too, just load everything into the car."
"Alright."
At nine o’clock, Li Peifeng returned to the Jade District and started organizing what he needed to take home. Since it wasn’t a move, he didn’t need to bring much. Thanks to the convenience of the [Everchanging Garment], he didn’t even need to pack much clothing. He was done in half an hour, and then continued to write.
Although only thirty thousand words of "Sword and Law" had been published, Li Peifeng had already accumulated two hundred thousand words of drafts, enough to sustain until it was released. The more he wrote, the more clear he became about the theme and style of the book.
It portrays the world in his dreams from the perspective of a person from Earth. On a distant and possibly non-existent alien planet, the interweaving of time and space, beautiful creatures, completely different physical laws, marvelous phenomena, a complex historical and social background, a vast stretch of time, the love and hatred, and war songs arising from different races holding different values... any one of these can make one captivated.
This is the theme of the book, faithfully depicting the rise and fall of individuals and groups, small characters and big eras on a magical planet, and the wondrous impact of the protagonist, an otherworldly visitor.
Narrating such a story naturally requires a high level of style and writing skills. Writing it like an ordinary online novel is doomed not to achieve an epic sense of weightiness, yet it cannot stray too far from online literature conventions, or it’ll be abandoned by the market.
In the early stages of starting to write, Li Peifeng was troubled. This grand scale of work was his first attempt. Compared to it, his previous novels were like elementary school compositions. Therefore, he took some time to recuperate, repeatedly delving into dreams, before starting to write.
Even so, Li Peifeng initially wrote many drafts before honing his writing well. Now, he finally felt enlightened and confident, as if he finally knew how to create, how to write an article.
What is language? A tool to convey thoughts and express emotions.
What is writing? It’s nothing more than eight words; true feelings, wonderful harmony of words and meanings.
There’s no need to write flamboyantly and tediously. Neither is there a need to deliberately create special plots, scenarios, or characters to stimulate the sensory nerves of readers and manipulate their emotions.
Just take the time to organize your thoughts and narrate clearly and slowly, describing the grandeur and minutiae, desolation and magnificence of your dreams. Allow the reader to hear thunder in silence and see flowers in colorlessness...
After reading so many books and writing novels for so many years, accumulating millions of words, this was the first time Li Peifeng felt he could handle language so adeptly.
"Perhaps, this is the result of thick accumulation and thin release!"
...
At noon, Wu Wenyue and Xu Manning packed their luggage and called Li Peifeng to come and load it into the car. Afterward, the three had lunch together. After the meal, Wu Wenyue proposed going to the gym for a workout.
"Let’s shoot a video while we’re at it. The studio is on holiday, all the employees are gone, it’s just the three of us bosses left. But the account updates can’t be delayed during the winter break, so could you two be my videographers?"
Xu Manning had no objections and even suggested a creative idea for the video shooting, "Wouldn’t filming a gym video be too uncreative? Yueyue, you’ve shot a lot of fitness content before. Why don’t we change the theme this time and shoot it on the bed?"
The idea was ingenious, but Li Peifeng and Wu Wenyue both opposed it. The former really wanted to go to the gym to train and test the progress of his newly modified body.
With the winter break approaching, many students returned home early, leaving the campus gym a bit empty, with sparse runners on the treadmills and an equipment area devoid of anyone except them.
Thankfully, this avoided any competition between Li Peifeng and other students for weights...
"Add more, increase it to two hundred and seventy kilograms."
Li Peifeng was busy adding plates to the barbell on the bench press and called on Wu Wenyue to help. The latter, looking at the densely packed weights, was getting a bit scared, "Add more? Dude, what’s up with you? Have you eaten a few kids or something?"
The two of them had worked out together long enough to know each other’s capabilities. However, in the past two months, Wu Wenyue had started a business, so she couldn’t frequently join Li Peifeng in workouts. Yet, she remained confident that she knew Li’s physical statistics.
Two months ago, after Li Peifeng had just bound a system and won the first [Steel Kidney] transformation in a lottery, his limit bench press was around one hundred and ninety kilograms, and his squat and deadlift maxed out at about two hundred and seventy-eight kilograms. Even with ten more kilograms, he couldn’t manage another rep.
For Li Peifeng, who weighed just over a hundred kilograms, these figures were already impressive. Though falling short of powerlifting athletes, many professional bodybuilders and fitness competitors with a similar weight as Li Peifeng had similar statistics in the three primary categories.
