My Tribrid System: More than a Monster
Chapter 310: Skeletal Creatures (1)
Chapter 308
Right in front of the duo, the bones were rising with astonishing speed and assembling together like a stack of puzzle.
Shapes were being formed at a rapid velocity that even Ray was taken aback.
All around them, the bones scattered across the whole land were rising into place.
"Thi-Thi... What’s happening?" He mumbled under his breath as the bones were forming shapes.
Skeletal figures with bone weapons in their hands.
Strangely, the creations—from their shapes, looked oddly humanoid.
And in their bone hands, they held several weapons ranging from spears, to swords and even shields.
Standing like sentinels ready to take down whatever threat or being that wanted to cross their way.
Fortunately, the skeletal creatures hadn’t taken notice of the duo yet as they were still trying to shake off any disorientation they were feeling from their sudden rise from the ground.
This was bad.
With his high perception, Ray’s range had crossed sixty meters so he could practically sense that these creatures numbered in the hundreds.
... No... maybe a thousand since the bones seemed like they encompassed the whole land.
Their situation was deadly as Ray couldn’t even figure out if these were beasts, reanimated beings or how strong they were or even if there was something controlling them.
"We need to go back to the cave," Trisha whispered so silently as if she was speaking to herself, knowing well that the boy beside her would be able to hear her words no problem.
"Agreed."
For the first time, it seemed like Trish wasn’t ready to charge in recklessly.
That was because they knew nothing about these strange skeletal figures.
It was wise to not engage, hence they began walking backward while keeping their gazes fixed on the creatures.
Their steps were silent and stealthy as they continued walking backward calmly, quietly and gently until,
Crunch—!
Trisha’s foot hit a brittle bone and it snapped loudly under her leg.
Almost in unison, fifty of these skeletal creatures snapped their bony skulls their way, causing the duo to freeze in their steps.
"Great going, now you have put us in trouble," Ray snarled angrily as he shifted into a stance.
The skeletal figures glared at them with furious hollow eyes as they made a sound akin to stone grinding against stone, causing Ray’s ears to tingle and get irritated.
Within a moment, the skeletal figures charged towards them.
"Guess we have to fight," Trisha muttered and reached to pull out her sword from her scabbard.
On drawing, she felt how light it was.
Glancing down at it, she blinked and only then did she realize that there was no blade in her guard anymore.
Ray leaned forward and then, without wasting even a fraction of a second, he suddenly exploded forward in a terrifying, lightning-fast lunge.
The skeletons were caught unaware as his fist turned one skull into dust before he kicked the body with all his might, sending the shattered remains colliding with the others.
Swiftly bending down, a bone sword sliced through the air where his head occupied a moment ago.
Then he snapped his hands in place as a shield smashed into his guard, barely moving him at all.
’Huh? Wait... I didn’t get any notification from killing that one.’
Twirling around sharply, a spear sliced through the air and then his leg snapped upward from below, bashing into the bone hands and snapping them from their shoulders.
Grabbing the head of the beast, he hurled it forward, bashing it into his knee and shattering the whole skull.
’And this is surprisingly easy.’
Though some had surrounded him, others still dashed towards Trisha, who frowned at her missing sword.
Without any hesitation, frost crept up from the guard, running upward with lightning speed until within a second, a blade of ice appeared in the empty guard—and just in time, as a bone sword descended on her from above.
Twisting around, her hand snapped in place as the sword collided with her own ice blade, producing a loud clang.
Jabbing her hand forward, an ice column burst out from her fist and crashed into the figure’s ribcage, shattering the whole thing in a rain of bone.
Ice rushed across the ground, enabling her to slide backward as a sword crashed into her earlier position.
Spinning around, her leg snapped forward in a lightning-fast shot that crashed into two of the skeletal creatures’ thighs, immediately snapping them in two and sending the monsters crashing into the ground, but they weren’t done.
Even though they had already lost their legs, they began crawling towards the girl, who was weaving in between attacks and dismantling the entities either with her sword or ice ability. 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖
Ray wasn’t even caring.
After seeing how easy it was to take down the creatures, he was blistering into their midst, sharply breaking their skulls and sometimes disabling them by breaking through their legs.
’Hm. I thought this would be harder or they would be stronger. This isn’t that hard.’
Leaning backward, a sword sliced through the air, and then he twisted around and snapped upright before bashing his hand into the opponent’s chest.
His whole hand exited the other way, and he yanked it back out, shattering the whole chest before spinning around and delivering a powerful roundhouse kick into the side of another.
Bang—!
The body flew away, crashing into the other creatures like a bowling pin.
Vaulting into the air for a moment, he held out his hand downward with light swirling and coalescing around his palm.
[Holy Blast Orb]
Booom—!
An orb burst forward with immense speed, crashing into the midst of the creatures and detonating in a powerful explosion that shattered the whole bones while Ray landed smoothly with a soft smile on his face.
Only for his perception to tingle, and then he realized something.
’Hang on. Oh shit! More are coming?!’
With his explosion and the loud sounds coming from the battle, it was enough to notify the other skeletons to his position, and they were all coming in from all corners.
Soon, they might get surrounded.
And Ray will finally realize that the Bone Ridge wasn’t a place for easy battles.
What will happen next?
Will they be able to finish off these skeletal creatures without suffering a scratch? Or will they lose their lives in the process?
We will find out in the next Chapter>>>>
