Chapter 114: Chapter 113: Su Qi’s Confession

Jingyue, like her master, was not as optimistic as Su Qi. Su Qi generally didn’t think things through when it came to Jiang Zuo.

So Jingyue said bluntly, "Don’t you think your husband is a little too calm? Never mind being pushed around on the trip here—just seeing some of those things should have been enough to shatter his worldview.

"Yet he hasn’t said a word to you. Aren’t you worried he’s scared stiff?"

Su Qi said with some concern, "That’s probably not it, right? People are pretty open-minded these days. He watches anime all the time; he can just treat it like he’s been transported to an Otherworld."

Jingyue was rather exasperated. This just proved that when it came to Jiang Zuo, Su Qi’s intelligence was completely off the charts—in the wrong direction.

’But in that trope, you’re the protagonist,’ Jingyue thought. ’Your husband can’t practice Cultivation. It would be fine if he didn’t see himself in that role, but the real fear is that he will.’

The greater the hope, the greater the fall.

And so, it all came back to the original question.

How would he react when he learned he could only ever be an ordinary person?

But Jingyue didn’t say this out loud. After all, what was done was done (she had gone along with Su Qi’s plan), so all she could do was wait and see how it ended.

’Hopefully not *the* final ending,’ she thought.

When she didn’t get a reply, Su Qi suddenly thought of something else. "Master, I received a message today. It said a Ghost Cultivator has infiltrated the Holy Land."

Yue Xi looked at Su Qi in surprise. "Who told you that?"

Jingyue’s face fell. "We have to fight again?"

Su Qi answered, "Xiaomo notified me using a special Secret Technique. I just chatted with her on my phone, and she said one of the big shots in her group chat told her. It must be true."

Yue Xi said, "Their group has powerful seniors in it? Regardless, what she said is true. The Holy Land has already begun making arrangements, so we likely won’t have to get involved. It isn’t a major issue. They’re probably targeting the sacrificial rite."

At this, Jingyue asked again, "What group? Who’s this big shot? Let me join."

Su Qi shook her head. "I was thinking of joining too after I told Jiang Zuo everything, but Xiaomo politely turned me down. It was polite, but I could tell she was firm about it."

"Why? Isn’t my status as a Saintess good enough for them?"

Su Qi replied with just two words: "Not enough."

Jingyue was speechless.

Meanwhile, Jiang Zuo was already eating breakfast. Fortunately, this place didn’t have a rule about cutting off breakfast service after a certain time.

While Jiang Zuo was eating, Su Qi and the others arrived at his villa.

Su Qi opened the door and called out his name twice, but found no one inside.

"He’s already run off after just a few minutes?" Su Qi muttered with some annoyance as she entered the main hall.

Just then, Sweet Potato came hopping over to Su Qi. It held up an apple and cried, "QUACK, QUACK."

Seeing Sweet Potato, Su Qi said happily, "Oh, is this for me?"

With that, Su Qi snatched the apple, wiped it a couple of times, and took a bite. "Mmm, it’s so sweet! I can tell this is no ordinary apple. You’re so good, Sweet Potato."

This all happened so fast that Sweet Potato didn’t even have time to react. But as it watched Su Qi eat its apple, the Spirit Beast felt its entire world come crashing down.

Its will to live was gone. It was unacceptable. Dejection. Despair...

’This couple... neither of them is a good person.’

Watching Sweet Potato lying on the floor, utterly devoid of its will to live, Jingyue asked in surprise, "Is this a Spirit Beast? A duck-type Spirit Beast?"

Yue Xi was also a little surprised. "Xiaojiu, is this yours? Its intelligence is fully developed; it’s no ordinary Spirit Beast. Where did you get it? Also, it wasn’t offering you the fruit. It was telling you to buy more of this fruit for it to eat."

Su Qi was speechless.

"What are you all doing?" Just then, Jiang Zuo returned.

He didn’t quite understand why the three of them were gathered around Sweet Potato.

However, Jiang Zuo quickly spotted Su Qi’s aunt, and his brow furrowed.

’I’ve concealed my Cultivation, but only from those below Tier Four,’ he thought. ’My aunt-in-law’s Cultivation is definitely higher than Tier Four, so it’ll be hard to keep this a secret from her.’

But a single glance put Jiang Zuo at ease. His aunt-in-law’s aura was in Chaos, a clear sign of severe injury. Yet for her to be so badly hurt and still act as if nothing was wrong... that was a little strange.

Then Jiang Zuo looked at Su Qi’s sister, Jingyue. She was also severely injured and acting completely fine.

He didn’t quite understand this phenomenon and suddenly felt an urge to research it.

The moment Su Qi saw Jiang Zuo, she bounced over and threw her arms around him. "Did you miss me?"

’She’s being too clingy, and we have an audience,’ Jiang Zuo grumbled to himself.

Thanks to their "interactions" over the past few days, Jiang Zuo no longer felt any aversion to Su Qi.

But seeing her delighted expression, he couldn’t resist saying, "I did. I thought about you all night long, and I had an epiphany. From now on, just tell me the destination. Don’t bother making arrangements for me. I’d rather handle it myself."

"It seems Jiang Zuo is holding quite a grudge," Yue Xi said with a smile. "Su Qi, didn’t you have something to tell him? There’s a lake outside. You two can go there for a nice chat. If things get heated, you can always jump in the lake to cool off."

She picked up Sweet Potato, wanting to study it a bit. She didn’t like being disturbed.

Jiang Zuo nodded. He thought his aunt-in-law’s suggestion was excellent. It was better for him and Su Qi to discuss things privately. Having too many people around was always inconvenient.

As Jiang Zuo and Su Qi headed out the door, he heard Sweet Potato’s cries of despair.

’Best to just ignore it,’ he thought.

Jiang Zuo held Su Qi’s hand as they walked down the path.

After a long silence, Jiang Zuo asked, "Didn’t you say you had something to tell me?"

Su Qi looked at him and asked, "What did you see on your way here? Is there anything you feel like asking me?"

Jiang Zuo replied, "What if I said I don’t even know where to begin?"

Su Qi stepped in front of him, looked him in the eye, and said seriously, "Do you believe in Cultivation?"

Jiang Zuo nodded. "Go on."

Su Qi froze for a second. ’My husband’s reaction is so mild.’ Then she pointed to herself and said, "Your wife—me—is one of those cultivators."

Hearing this, Jiang Zuo sighed internally. ’Sure enough, I have no idea how an ordinary person is supposed to react to this.’

After a long silence, Su Qi began to worry. But then Jiang Zuo suddenly asked, "Can you fly?"

Su Qi froze, then turned her head away. "Not yet. But I will in a little while."

She had previously boasted about taking Jiang Zuo flying with her when she got back. Now that he was asking, she was incredibly embarrassed.

It would be a long time before she could fly; at the very minimum, she would need to reach Tier Three.

"So, this is your so-called ’fairy who can fly’?"

Su Qi was at a loss for words.

’So he heard me... Can’t you spare your own wife a little dignity?’

Jiang Zuo added, "And here I thought you were going to take me flying to prove you’re a fairy."

Su Qi covered her face. "Stop it! I was just trying to give you a clear demonstration of how special I am."

Then Su Qi peeked at Jiang Zuo. "So... you accept it?"

Jiang Zuo sighed. "Do I have a choice? Only you would be reckless enough to let an ordinary person take that kind of plane here by himself, then make him find his own way to the resort."

Although none of this had actually caused Jiang Zuo any harm, he still wanted to complain a little. Teasing Su Qi was rather fun for him.

"I was wrong! I won’t do it again."

By the time they reached the lake, Su Qi was explaining, "So when I go on ’business trips,’ I’m actually out fighting monsters and demons. You can’t doubt me anymore. It makes me really sad."

Jiang Zuo looked up at the sky. ’In my previous life, even if Su Qi had told me the truth, things probably still wouldn’t have ended well for us.’
