Mythical Three Kingdoms
Chapter 1892 - 1730: Blending In
Soon, a box with a large piece of meat was placed in front of Gan Ning, and he immediately devoured it. After finishing, he was about to run off, but when he reached the door, he stepped out with one foot and then stepped back in.
"If you still don’t speak, I’m really leaving," Gan Ning turned his head and asked again.
The monk continued to sit with closed eyes, as if he hadn’t heard Gan Ning’s words.
Gan Ning hesitated a bit, thinking of the saying "one is short-mouthed after eating someone’s food and soft-handed after taking someone’s belongings," and since he had both eaten and taken, yet the other party asked nothing of him, Gan Ning was at a loss about how to handle the situation.
Seeing the monk still sitting motionless in the courtyard, Gan Ning walked out, stood at the door, clasped his hands together, and respectfully bowed in the direction of the monk before turning around and flying away.
"If there’s a chance in the future, I’ll repay him. For now, I have nothing to offer or express my gratitude." Gan Ning thought silently as he flew away.
Maudgalyayana didn’t raise his head to watch Gan Ning’s departure, but his inner eye saw very clearly.
"I don’t know if this matter is right or wrong. This person carries great karma, yet I glimpsed a thread of vitality in him. Oh Buddha, why do we suddenly face a calamity?" The monk silently rotated his prayer beads but unknowingly stopped reciting scriptures.
"I, Maudgalyayana, will bear all calamities; how can a mere heart obstacle not be thoroughly pierced?" The monk tidied up the food box and stepped into the temple.
On the other side, Gan Ning, understanding mental communication, instantly figured out how to blend into the Kushan Navy. He was not only bold but also quick-witted.
"Excuse me, where do I enlist in the navy?" Gan Ning, after a day, somehow acquired a set of Kushan clothing and brazenly barged into the naval camp at Minagara Seaport, grabbing a soldier and asking.
The other camp guards, seeing this, immediately took out a flute-like object and fiercely blew it, emitting a sharp sound, while the surrounding patrol rushed towards the entrance.
However, unlike the Han Army’s order to kill on sight for intrusions, the Kushan, although a group rushed out, only surrounded Gan Ning with long spears.
"Who are you?" A person appearing to be a centurion or a commander of the Kushan Navy rode out, arrogantly asking as his men surrounded Gan Ning.
"I should be asking who you are," Gan Ning responded using mental communication.
Gan Ning’s mental communication startled the opposite side. Originally, seeing Gan Ning’s disheveled clothes made them somewhat dismissive, but the mental communication indeed subdued them.
After all, anyone who could pull off this move either had a powerful background or extraordinary strength, certainly not someone they could provoke at their level.
The Kushan Navy’s commander immediately dismounted, instructing someone to notify the leader of the Minagara Water Fort, while he personally stabilized Gan Ning.
"May I ask where you come from, where you’re going, and why you passed through our naval camp?" The commander quickly defined the nature of the event as an accident, not an assault, and spoke with a more conciliatory tone.
"I come from the north, joining the navy to fight for the nation!" As he spoke, Gan Ning swung his great broadsword from his back, the radiance of Biqing making everyone present realize that this man was a top-ranking expert.
"You guys are so troublesome. I heard the navy is recruiting, so I came. Hurry up and let me in; I’m still waiting to set sail!" Gan Ning said impatiently, watching the crowd opposite with an expression of impatience.
Moreover, Gan Ning exuded an air of confidence, starting to push forward, his years of rogue experience baffling the Kushan Navy’s commander, unsure whether to block or not as Gan Ning moved inward.
After all, with Gan Ning showing Inner Qi Manifestation, such strength could be respected anywhere, and despite his rogue demeanor, his noble background couldn’t be concealed.
With such a strong foundation, remarkable strength, and apparent prestigious lineage, nobody wished to provoke him, and as a mere naval commander, it wasn’t worth the trouble.
"Please, proceed," the Kushan Navy commander thought it best not to confront such a formidable person. He invited Gan Ning into the camp while notifying the camp’s chief.
Gan Ning wasted no time, boldly walking towards the Kushan Camp’s interior surrounded by escorts, inquiring about anything he didn’t understand through mental communication. Naturally, the Kushan soldiers were more than willing to share knowledge at this level.
"A high caste-looking guy trying to storm the camp?" The naval commander of that division at Minagara, Mengg Kambu, frowned upon receiving the report.
"Could it be those Cecil bastards again?" Mengg Kambu thought bitterly. He, possessing Legion Talent and Inner Qi Separation, was demoted to Minagara to lead seven thousand rookies with junk fourth-generation ships for training, was already quite enraged.
"Let’s go and see for myself!" Mengg Kambu smirked coldly. As long as it was confirmed the intruder was from the Cecil Clan, he wouldn’t let him off easily. He wouldn’t kill him, but severely injuring him and tossing him into the sea to feed the sharks was viable.
When Mengg Kambu arrived with his personal soldiers, Gan Ning was observing the arrangement of sea ships, occasionally asking questions that seemed moronic to the Kushan Navy.
"Who are you?" After hearing a few questions, Mengg Kambu was sure this person wasn’t from the Cecil Clan; even the most unreliable of Cecil wouldn’t ask such idiotic questions.
Even in disguise, a military general from the Cecil family wouldn’t ask such idiotic naval questions publicly because if their family members asked such questions, it would tarnish their family name.
Despite Mengg Kambu’s disdain for the Cecil family, he respected their naval command, believing their family wouldn’t produce someone utterly ignorant of naval matters.
Gan Ning’s vigilance wasn’t lacking; although someone was sharing the knowledge he desired, he noticed Mengg Kambu immediately upon his arrival with Inner Qi Manifestation.
"Are you the commander here?" Gan Ning asked using mental communication.
"Why don’t you speak?" Mengg Kambu was curious why Gan Ning didn’t speak instead of asking his intent.
"I’m currently reducing verbal excess and don’t plan to speak this year." Gan Ning made up a story without hesitation, and Mengg Kambu, upon hearing it, showed a trace of respect, clasping his hands in a bow, "Such a cultivation method is unheard of."
