Myths Reawakened
Chapter 346 (2): The Big Three of the Demon Alliance
On the other side of the ocean, in Londan, Wayne had been hurting from his trip in the mountains and valleys.
His conscience was hurting.
Since he wasn’t human, his endurance was unbelievably good, with question marks for all his physical stats. There was no way that his body would hurt, but his conscience did. He had been beating himself up recently.
He had promised Ivan that Anastasia would never lose her purity with him around, and the next thing he knew, he was already deep in her purity, having forgotten his promise completely. What was worse, he had broken his promise to Anastasia. With an aching heart, he swore to never mess around at her place.
Thus, he had been messing around with her at Mona’s place.
Every time, he would hold Anastasia with guilt and regret afterwards, but after he recovered, he would always repeat the same mistake. He couldn’t help it. The dark elf was too attractive.
Today, Wayne had driven out of Mona’s place feeling rejuvenated, heading to the port to pick up Juno Jones, the Princess’s knight and the real Princess Elizabeth. He had summoned her back from Franc with a call.
Wayne had acquired Saint Patrick’s holy grail in the Republic of Erland, capable of extracting divine blood. He wanted to use it on Kristen, but needing more data, he turned to Juno.
Queen Sophelia had made a deal with Auston. She would be allowed to send her children out of Windsor on the condition that she governed Windsor for Auston, under the Lando family’s control. Moreover, she would be representing the nation to shoulder the risks and pressure that the royal family should shoulder.
Auston would not make a good king, and he didn’t want to. Since he was left with no choice after the successful rebellion, though, he ended up reaching an agreement with Sophelia for their mutual benefits.
Wayne’s action was obviously a violation of the agreement. To preserve the Queen’s face, he had told Juno to keep a low profile, sneaking into Windsor via a cruise ship rather than catching a flight.
The black sedan drove away from the port, heading straight to the laboratory. Sitting in the passenger seat, Juno stared out of the window coldly, not wanting to talk to the traitor who had robbed her family of power.
“Juno, where is your fiancé? Why are you alone?”
“What? Can I not satisfy you?”
“I don’t think so.”
Juno’s fiancé, Alistair, also had divine blood. Wayne had requested both Juno and her fiancé to come to Londan, but only one of them showed up.
It was good news in some way. It meant that Juno’s condition had stabilized. Though she had come at a moment’s notice, she had retained her judgment and, while showing Wayne trust, rejected his unreasonable request.
You’re not getting both of us. Only me.
She stared at the bustling Londan streets with a complicated expression. This had been her country, and now, it was the Lando family’s. She wondered how her mother was doing. Had Auston humiliated her and produced the future sovereign?
From a political standpoint, Juno chose to believe that she had gained another sibling.
Irritated, she turned to Wayne with a frown. “My mother should’ve told you this. Once she abdicated, I would become the Queen, and you would be the King Consort. Then, the Lando family would’ve legitimately taken over Windsor. Why didn’t you agree to that?”
It’s too early to be dreaming. Should I be the Prince Consort just because you make the offer?
Wayne put on a look of surprise. “Why didn’t I know that? Auston didn’t tell me.”
“What? You didn’t know?” Juno’s mouth fell open in shock. She suddenly thought of a possibility. “Damn Auston, he didn’t tell you because he wanted to force my mother to submit to him.”
Keep going, Wayne thought. The Lando family needs an extraordinary detective like you.
Juno had an inexplicable trust in Wayne and never doubted his words. Even when she felt suspicious, she would come up with excuses to convince herself. This time, for example, she fully believed Wayne when he said that he was going to refine her divine blood for her. She immediately prepared to sneak into Windsor, ignoring Alistair’s concerns.
The Queen worked so hard to set you free. Why would you return? The Lando father and son must be going back on their word to force you and your mother to serve them!
Juno had paused when she heard, even feeling somewhat excited. She countered Alistair’s argument from a political point of view and corrected her that this would be the Windsor family’s best chance to take the country back.
The Lando family held too many powerful cards in their deck, so the Windsors could never take the country back by force. However, they could blend the Windsor and Lando bloodlines so that their royal blood might continue.
It made so much sense that Juno had convinced herself. She ordered Alistair to keep her outing a secret and forbade her from following her to Londan.
Juno was the former princess, so Wayne would never go too hard on her. Alistair was another story. If she came to Londan, she really would become a slave.
Wayne didn’t know what Juno was thinking, and he didn’t care enough to find out. He just needed her here. He wasted no time before rushing to the laboratory and beginning his research.
Juno was interested in the holy grail that Wayne had acquired, but he didn’t answer any of her questions. Huffing, she put on the white patient’s gown and sat on the worktable.
I don’t like you. ≠ You’re allowed to not like me.
She didn’t get it. Why would Wayne ignore someone like her? Just because they both liked women? That couldn’t be right. Her preferences should’ve been a plus!
In truth, Juno was simply late to the party. Wayne already had several luxury cars in his garage. The best three, Filomina, Senna, and Anastasia, were all top-tier beauties among mortals. His standards were now so impossibly high that he lost interest in regular beauties.
Oh, there was an Śār, too. Though Hesione never spoke to Wayne, always pretending to be Mona when Mona made her take over the body, she was still an Śār.
Wayne had driven a six-winged luxury car. A mere princess wasn’t going to draw his attention just because she liked women and was part of a packaged deal.
Maybe in their next life, for sure!
“Lie down and relax. I’m getting started.”
Wayne held the holy grail with both hands and had the Book of Greed move its large eye, injecting the magic stones in his chest with the powers of Hell and Heaven. He had witnessed Smedley, Envy’s familiar, manipulating the holy grail and recorded the process with his thoughts. It wasn’t difficult for him to replicate it. He only asked Juno to be his guinea pig to be on the safe side.
If nothing went wrong, he could do it on his first try.
Insidious hellish energy swirled around the golden holy grail. Wayne squeezed his eyes shut and chanted under his breath. Two tentacles reached out from under his feet, slicing the arteries on Juno’s wrists.
Her blood made a swirl in the air and, after being refined by the external heart that was the holy grail, returned to Juno’s body. Research materials like her were difficult to come by. If he broke her, he would be hard-pressed to find a replacement, so he took a long time to be careful with her.
Juno lay down on the worktable, feeling dizzy. With every part of her blood refined, her body felt a little hotter. When the heat reached her breaking point, she followed her bloodline’s guidance and transformed into her angel form instinctively.
Wayne recorded all the data with his thoughts. Sensing the powerful Holy Light surging out of Juno’s body, he nodded, concluding that the operation would be viable for Kristen.
Kristen’s divine blood was in a half-developed state, terminated halfway when Obed worked on her. That was why she hadn’t awakened fully.
Of course, Wayne couldn’t possibly replicate Obed’s method of sacrificing young children with alchemy circles. The holy grail was much less malicious, and while the process would be painful, it wasn’t unbearable.
Now, Juno’s body temperature had risen beyond the normal level. A regular person would’ve been rendered into gravy from the intense heat. That alerted Wayne. He committed it to memory since he didn’t want to turn Kristen’s nice fragrance into the nice aroma of cooked protein.
The door of the laboratory opened. Mona rushed in, stopping in surprise when she saw the holy grail and Juno. She immediately switched with Hesione and urged her to speak up.
(눈‸눈)
The Śār wanted nothing more than to cut down this shameless pair. What was she going to say? Nothing, of course.
Wayne glanced up at Mona, immediately recognizing that it was the defiant Śār. He waved at her. “Why are you standing so far away, Mona? Come closer.”
Hesione retreated further to the door.
“What are you so scared about? I’m not going to eat you.” He raised an eyebrow. “Besides, who says I’ll be the one to do the eating, am I right?”
Hesione’s expression distorted. Closing her eyes, she snarled at Mona that she had had enough, demanding to be sealed right this moment. Mona took over and complained, “Boss, you went too far and scared the Śār.”
“It’s her fault for holding onto a false purity. If she had nothing to hide, she wouldn’t worry about her skin and wouldn’t feel like she would fall. At the end of the day, her heart was never pure to begin with.”
Wayne went on and on about his forced logic. “I know an angel who serves humans with her beauty. The moment she gets intimate with them, she turns into skeletons and makes the sinners of lust realize their mistakes. That’s true purity. The Śār’s purity is only skin deep. It’s false.”
You’re talking about a succubus, aren’t you? X2
Mona disagreed with his argument, and Hesione shot down his nonsense inwardly. Due to her vehement rejection, though, Mona changed her stance and approved of Wayne’s words, advising Hesione to turn into an angel who valued true purity rather than appearance.
It was no surprise that Hesione responded with sarcasm.
Even when cursing someone out, the Śār couldn’t strike any nerves in Mona due to her limited vocabulary. Remembering what they had visited Wayne for, Mona made Hesione take over once more.
Her expression went through several changes before she bit out, “Saint Paul’s Cathedral issued a warning. Demons are again sighted in Londan. Go get them.”
Reaaaaaally? Anooooother?
Wayne didn’t respond. Was Londan the true demon-nip garden? How many times had it been? Was Hell a company that could only arrange trips to Londan because of a limited budget?
“Saint Paul’s Cathedral issued a warning. Did you hear me or not?”
“I heard you, but who are you?” Wayne cocked his head at Hesione, saying gleefully, “Mona’s obedient and speaks nicely. She never talks down to me so arrogantly. Are you perhaps Śār Hesione?”
“No, I’m not,” Hesione hurriedly said, refusing to admit who she was. She lowered her head and said as softly as a mosquito’s buzz, “Boss, Saint Paul’s Cathedral issued a warning. There are demons in Londan. They hope that you’ll take them out.”
“What did you call me?”
“Bo-boss...”
“Louder. I can’t hear you. Do you want the demons dealt with or not?”
“Boss...”
Hesione spoke louder, feeling so humiliated that she swore to kill Wayne.
Mona huffed from the sidelines. With her keeping an eye on Hesione, the angel would never be able to do anything to Wayne. Rather than dreaming about killing him, she should just step on him a few more times.
Then Wayne would have his reward, and Hesione would recover her pride and reaffirm her autonomy. It was a win-win situation.
