Necromancer: I Am A Disaster
Chapter 705: One Must Not Repay Kindness With Betrayal
Lin Moyu had already made up his mind. If necessary, he could even represent the entire human race and make the decision himself.
Yet he still chose to hand that authority to Meng Anwen and the other two.
After all, they were currently the highest-level figures representing humanity.
Their status and influence placed them at the forefront of the human race.
He trusted that they would make the right choice.
And indeed, Meng Anwen decided quickly.
He chose to cooperate with the Demon Emperor.
Bai Yiyuan raised an eyebrow and looked at him, “You mean we should forget all the hatred of the past?”
Among the three of them, Bai Yiyuan had fought the Abyssal Demons the hardest.
Naturally, he was also the one who hated them the most.
Compared to Meng Anwen, Bai Yiyuan was neither as analytical nor as calm when dealing with complex matters, so accepting such a decision immediately was difficult for him.
Meng Anwen looked at him, “What do you think all our efforts have been for?”
Bai Yiyuan snorted, “Isn’t that obvious? To carve out a place for the human race, to fight until the Demons no longer dare to run rampant in our lands.”
Meng Anwen nodded, “If Moyu’s cooperation with the Demon Emperor succeeds, then in the future there will be no more Abyssal Demons and no more Dragonkind.”
“There will be no more wars. No more needless sacrifices. Wouldn’t that be a good thing?”
Bai Yiyuan’s burly body trembled slightly as he grew agitated, “What about the Demon Emperor?”
Before Meng Anwen could answer, Yan Kuangsheng spoke first, “You blockhead, why can’t you understand? If the Abyssal Demons disappear, how could there still be a Demon Emperor?”
Meng Anwen added softly, “Historically speaking, the Demon Emperor has actually done quite a few things that benefited humanity. Yes, she had her own motives, but the results are undeniable. We can’t ignore that.”
Lin Moyu nodded, “That’s true. If it weren’t for the Demon Emperor, the human race would be in a completely different situation today.”
Bai Yiyuan still couldn’t fully accept it, but he fell silent.
Meng Anwen glanced at him, then said to Lin Moyu, “Don’t worry about him. He’ll figure it out eventually. His brain just works a little slower; it needs time.”
Lin Moyu couldn’t help but chuckle. That really did seem to be the case.
When he had first met Bai Yiyuan, Lin Moyu had thought him unfathomably profound. Later, however, he realized he had been completely fooled.
Meng Anwen muttered, “But there’s still something I don’t quite understand. The Demon Emperor wants to maintain balance, and there are many ways to do that. Why would she choose to stand on our side?”
Lin Moyu lowered his voice, “Because she possesses half-human blood.”
The moment those words were spoken, Meng Anwen’s expression froze.
Bai Yiyuan jumped to his feet so abruptly that the sturdy chair beneath him shattered into powder with a bang.
Yan Kuangsheng also stared in disbelief, “That can’t be true, right?”
After a brief moment of shock, understanding suddenly dawned on Meng Anwen, and he asked urgently, “Moyu, the human blood you’re talking about… it’s not from our world, is it?”
Lin Moyu nodded, “It’s not.”
Bai Yiyuan and Yan Kuangsheng looked as if they had just heard something impossible, their gazes shifting repeatedly between Lin Moyu and Meng Anwen.
Yan Kuangsheng frowned, “Old Meng, do you know something?”
Meng Anwen replied quietly, “Don’t worry. I’ll explain it to you in a moment.”
Among the three of them, Lin Moyu had only shared information about the world with Meng Anwen.
Meng Anwen possessed exceptional comprehension ability; he understood everything almost immediately after hearing it.
But Bai Yiyuan and Yan Kuangsheng would need a little time to digest such information.
Meng Anwen ignored the two still-confused men, “In that case, it makes sense. If this plan succeeds, did she say what she intends to do afterward?”
Lin Moyu shook his head, “Lilian didn’t say. But I think she’ll go into hiding and wait for a chance to leave this world.”
“In the fragmented world, her limit is only half-step Transcendent God. She can’t advance any further.”
“Her soul brand is still bound to this world. Even if she leaves now, it wouldn’t matter. She would still be found.”
Meng Anwen could understand what Lin Moyu meant. Although he had not witnessed it personally, he could roughly infer the situation.
Suddenly, Meng Anwen thought of something, “Soul brand… I remember now. The method of placing soul brands only appeared within the human race about 1,000 years ago.”
“It was precisely because of this method that humanity managed to avoid many losses.”
“Could this method also have been her…”
Lin Moyu nodded, “Yes. She was the one who gave it to us.”
Meng Anwen drew in a sharp breath, “There’s no need to discuss this any further. We will proceed according to her plan.”
His words settled the matter completely.
Lin Moyu had already expected this outcome, “Understood. Aside from us, this matter should remain confidential.”
“Of course. They are not qualified to know.” Meng Anwen replied.
He understood that the more people who knew, the more complicated things would become.
It was impossible to satisfy everyone, and every decision required sacrifices.
As the strongest figures of the humans, they had the responsibility to guide humanity toward the brightest possible future.
Some sacrifices were unavoidable.
Even letting go of hatred was sometimes necessary, just like the cooperation with the Abyssal Demons 1,000 years ago.
After Lin Moyu left, Bai Yiyuan and Yan Kuangsheng stared intently at Meng Anwen. Their faces were filled with questions.
Meng Anwen sighed softly, “The reason I didn’t tell you earlier was because I was afraid you wouldn’t be able to accept it.”
“If you truly want to know, prepare yourselves first.”
Bai Yiyuan snorted, “If you can accept it, why wouldn’t I?”
Yan Kuangsheng added, “Just say it. We’ve lived half our lives; what could possibly shake us now?”
Meng Anwen hummed, “Then tell me, what level do you think the strongest powerhouses should be?”
Bai Yiyuan answered without hesitation, “Naturally Transcendent God-level. Humanity simply lacks one. If we had a Transcendent God, we could easily suppress both the Abyssal Demons and the Dragonkind.”
Meng Anwen chuckled, “Then what level do you think that Lord is?”
Yan Kuangsheng knew he was referring to Antares, “Probably a Transcendent God as well, perhaps an especially powerful one.”
Meng Anwen shook his head, “In that Lord’s eyes, Transcendent Gods are no different from ants. He could wipe out an entire swarm with a single breath.”
“Impossible!”
“No way!”
Meng Anwen chuckled lightly, “I’ll explain it slowly.”
…
Lin Moyu returned to Shenxia City.
His agreement with the Demon Emperor had already been settled.
Now, the only thing that mattered was raising his level. 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮
This was the prerequisite for their cooperation. If he failed to reach Transcendent God-level and become world lord, the Demon Emperor’s cooperation would be meaningless.
Lin Moyu had considered that after reaching Transcendent God-level, he might simply refuse the cooperation altogether.
At that point, he would be powerful enough to wipe out the Dragonkind and the Abyssal Demons by himself.
Even killing the Dragon Emperor and Lilian would not be difficult.
But after learning what Lilian had once done for humanity, he abandoned that idea.
A favor received in times of need should be repaid with boundless gratitude.
Regardless of her intentions, Lilian had indeed contributed greatly to the humans.
That was an undeniable fact.
Moreover, Lilian had never killed a human. On the contrary, because of her actions, many humans had found a new lease on life.
Lin Moyu could not bring himself to kill her.
Such an act would be nothing short of repaying kindness with betrayal.
While lost in thought, he had already left Shenxia City.
Spreading his Deathwings, he crossed the continent and traversed the Wind-Lightning Ocean, heading toward the Wind-Lightning Continent.
Before long, his undead army appeared once more, unleashing slaughter among Lightning Tree forests and Wind Petal clusters.
This was the fastest leveling method Lin Moyu had discovered.
Under the relentless slaughter of the undead army, his EXP soared like a rocket.
In the past 1,000 years, he was probably the only person capable of using Lightning Trees and Wind Petals to level up.
