Netori Harem: New life as a hunter and gatherer
Chapter 186: Displeased
When Luke reached the main door, he found Roxanne standing there instead of the person he was expecting.
She wore a tight black dress that clung to every inch of her body and flowed down to her ankles. Standing under the bright sun, her silky black hair gleamed and shimmered, looking soft and perfectly cared for.
Her striking crimson eyes wandered around slowly, as if drinking in the new surroundings for the first time.
The dress shamelessly accentuated her womanly curves. Her massive, heavy milk jugs hung heavily in the fabric, full and round, with a generous amount of smooth, creamy cleavage spilling out for his hungry eyes.
The deep valley between those fat tits looked so soft and inviting, practically begging to be grabbed and squeezed.
Her wide hips stretched the material tight, showing off her thick, juicy ass and fertile figure, while her long, smooth legs remained teasingly hidden beneath the dress.
Getting out the reverie of her looks, he decided to approach her.
"Quite a surprise seeing you here," Luke remarked as he slowly pulled the door open wider, fully revealing himself. "Why are you standing outside? Come in."
The sunlight outside was especially harsh today, making the shade inside the house feel far more welcoming.
Roxanne hesitated briefly before asking,
"Is it really alright? I came without informing you beforehand."
Luke let out a small chuckle.
"I’m not the chief. Your mate is." He stepped aside casually. "You don’t need my permission just to visit me."
As he spoke, he pulled out a chair for her.
Roxanne thanked him quietly and sat down with practiced elegance, resting her hands neatly over her thighs while observing the interior of the house.
"So this is where you live," she said softly. "It’s a nice home."
Luke shrugged lightly.
"It’s enough for us to live comfortably. Nothing nearly as grand as your place though."
He had visited the chief’s residence before.
Honestly, the place was absurdly large.
For only four people, that house was at least three times the size of his own.
Though considering Luke once owned an entire mansion solely for himself in the past, he wasn’t exactly in a position to complain about wasted space now.
Roxanne gave a faint, wry smile.
"Truthfully..." She glanced down slightly. "Even I feel that house is a little too large for us."
Luke hummed in agreement before asking,
"Anyway, do you want something to drink?"
Roxanne immediately shook her head politely.
"No, I’m alright."
Luke dismissed that answer instantly.
"No chance. It’s your first time visiting, and the heat outside is unbearable today." He turned slightly. "Let me ask Dalia if she still has some of her signature drink left."
"Ah, yes."
The response came so quickly that Luke paused for half a second.
Then a smirk slowly appeared on his face.
At first he thought only Dalia had been secretly listening nearby.
But now he realized the truth.
Every woman in the house was apparently eavesdropping from the gallery.
Luke shook his head faintly as Dalia carefully poured the drink from a small pitcher into a cup.
It was the same drink she had prepared for him two nights ago.
Roxanne accepted it with a graceful smile.
"Sorry for barging in so suddenly," she said politely. "And thank you for this."
Luke blinked in mild surprise when he noticed Dalia visibly fluster.
"Ah... i-it’s nothing really," she replied hurriedly.
Then, almost awkwardly, she glanced toward Luke and added,
"I’ll be nearby, so call me if you need anything else."
Luke simply stared at her for a moment, genuinely caught off guard by her reaction.
Dalia didn’t linger any longer.
After one final glance toward Roxanne, she quickly retreated from the room.
Luke let out a quiet sigh before shaking his head again.
"Either because she thinks you’re beautiful or because of your position," he remarked casually, "that’s the first time I’ve ever seen her this nervous."
Roxanne smiled politely.
"I hope I didn’t make her uncomfortable." 𝒇𝓻𝓮𝓮𝙬𝙚𝒃𝒏𝓸𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝓬𝓸𝒎
Luke scoffed at that.
"Thanks to you, I just discovered she can actually get flustered like that."
Then he crossed his arms and leaned back slightly.
"Though..." His voice lowered this time, careful enough that others listening nearby wouldn’t catch onto the familiarity between them. "Aren’t you acting a little too formal with me today?"
The moment the words left his mouth, Luke suddenly recalled what Thea had told him earlier.
Apparently, Baldon had warned Roxanne against meeting him.
And judging by the way Roxanne’s posture stiffened ever so slightly...
It seemed that irritating little midget hadn’t been lying after all.
Not wanting to push her into an uncomfortable position, Luke decided to change the subject.
"So?" he asked casually. "Why are you here?"
Roxanne let out a faint sigh of relief before answering,
"My Lord sent me here regarding your reward."
"Reward?" Luke raised a brow.
Though inwardly, he couldn’t help finding the situation ridiculous.
Not so long before, Baldon apparently warned Roxanne to stay away from him.
And now the same man had sent her directly to Luke’s house.
What a strange bastard.
Roxanne nodded gently.
"Yes. A reward for your bravery and contribution toward protecting the village."
Luke shifted in his seat and rested his hands on his lap.
"I was planning to meet the chief about that myself." Baldon had already invited him over yesterday.
Roxanne smiled faintly.
"He mentioned that." Then amusement flickered briefly across her expression. "But he also said you’d probably become shy and refuse to ask for anything properly, so he sent me instead."
Then, lowering her voice slightly, she added,
"Because he knew we got along well."
Luke smirked at that.
"Oh, we do."
Then his gaze sharpened slightly.
"But honestly, the way you’re speaking right now..." His tone carried a faint trace of displeasure. "I feel like I’m talking to the chief’s wife instead of you."
Roxanne’s lips pressed together softly.
Her eyes lowered toward her lap.
In a much quieter voice, she asked,
"What can I do to earn your forgiveness?"
Luke leaned back deeper into his seat, a slow smirk forming on his face.
If he genuinely spoke what was on his mind right now...
She’d probably end up too stunned to even respond.
Shaking his head lightly, Luke replied,
"I don’t really have anything in mind right now."
Then he rose from his seat.
"For now, I need to head to the forest, so let’s continue this later—"
"Ah, can I come with you?"
Roxanne suddenly stood up and asked almost immediately, a trace of excitement slipping into her voice before she could hide it.
Luke frowned slightly.
"To the forest?" He looked at her carefully. "Are you sure?"
Honestly, her eagerness caught him off guard.
Especially considering the last time the two of them had visited the forest together...
Things had become far too intense between them.
There was no way she had forgotten that.
Which made him wonder.
Was this her subtle way of hinting at something?
Or did she genuinely just want to spend time with him?
Then again...
He honestly didn’t care much about the reason.
"Yes." Roxanne nodded without hesitation this time. "I want to come with you."
Luke stared at her for another second before eventually shrugging.
"Your choice."
Then he turned toward the inner rooms.
"Give me a moment to freshen up first."
