New World with Four Husbands
Chapter 709: Suit for the groom [2]
Kairo disappeared into a fitting room, the tailor handing him several suits, each one varying in color and fabric, and after a few moments, he stepped back out— now clad in a deep navy blue suit with silver embroidery along the lapels.
Kairo stepped in front of the mirror to check his appearance again, and found out that the clothing itself doesn’t suit him or his bride, so he walked back inside the changing room to replace the one he’s wearing now to another that might suit him and his beloved bride-to-be.
The group watched silently as he changed again into a crisp white formal suit with golden buttons this time, but still, it didn’t suit him.
Then, after changing into another one, after a long time of wearing a suit and changing into another because of certain problems, he finally stumbled upon an emerald green one lined with black trim.
"That suit looks expensive." Zaque muttered under his breath to Alhai, eyes gleaming with pride. "But it’s Coco’s mother who would pay for everything."
"I agree." The third husband whispered back, nodding his head.
The two of them resumed their attention to their hybrid friend and watched as Kairo studied his reflection in the body-length mirror beside the dressing cubicle, turning to get a better look at the deep green suit.
The color suited him immensely, the sharp lines of the thread accenting his frame and bringing out his features.
He ran his hand down the lines of the suit, a quiet appreciation gleaming in his eyes.
The rest of the group watched as he examined himself with a small smile emerging in his lips, each one silently agreeing that indeed— he looked downright dashing in that suit.
However, there was a small, firm voice of dissent from the group, and all eyes flicked to Coco, her head cocked and lips pursed as she shook her head.
She looked Kairo up and down, her tone almost critical as she spoke up. "Nah.. That doesn’t look good on you. Maybe a black or violet one would look better."
Kairo’s shoulders slumped slightly as he looked back at the mirror, his expression faltering for half a second, feeling a little caught off guard.
The other men shifted slightly, looking between the two.*
"I thought it looked good on me." The hybrid mumbled, his tone sheepish, which was accompanied by a look of embarrassment.
Then, he crossed his arms, a small sigh leaving him as he stared at her. "It looks fine, honestly. You’re being nitpicky.. I don’t want to take more of our time just shopping for the rest of our outing."
Coco nodded at his words, but her pointed glance at Kairo was sharp, her arms crossing slightly, tapping one foot against the floor as she continued.
"It does look good." She agreed, her lips quirking up a little. "But not that good. If anything, I would bet my chastity that your suit would suit me better because of my eyes."
She gestured to herself with a small huff. "After all, yours are purple.. Mine are green."
Kairo’s shoulders slumped slightly, the corner of his mouth tugging down as he nodded, then he gave Coco a quick look before disappearing back into the changing room to change into a new suit.
The rest of the group watched as the door shut behind him with a gentle click, a beat of silence passing before Zaque broke it with an exaggerated shake of his head.
The mediator reached over and clapped a supportive hand on his wife’s shoulder, his voice low as he watched the changing room door.
"You know, you didn’t have to be so blunt." He stated, though there was a hint of amusement in his tone, which made the other mediators shake their own heads in disappointment.
Coco raised an eyebrow at them, her gaze flickering between Zaque’s hand and his face.
There was no malice in the gesture, just a certain stubbornness. "If I didn’t, then he would settle for that suit and not choose what he actually wants."
Zaque let out a small chuckle, nodding his head in agreement.
He couldn’t help, but find her logic endearing sometimes, it’s what made her even more lovelier than when he first met her.
"You’re too honest for your own good," he muttered, chuckling.
Coco shrugged, her expression unapologetic.
She glanced at Kairo when he stepped out in a new suit, her gaze assessing before she turned back to Zaque.
"I don’t do that often." She said, sighing. "So when I do, consider it genuine and a desperate measure."
Zaque snorted softly, but didn’t argue further, knowing full well that Coco was right, because even if Coco was honest, she does it in a way that makes their heart race.
Coco’s lips curled into a smile when she saw Kairo, her gaze flickering over his form in the suit.
It was the deep purple that she had suggested— and he wore it well, with the dark shade contrasted beautifully against the black of his hair and set off his eyes, the color almost making the irises glow.
The others watched silently as he stood for her inspection, holding their breaths slightly as they waited for Coco’s verdict.
The new suit is violet and it was so dark that it was almost black.
Not to mention, the black buttons on the coat were a perfect match, the fabric of the suit complimenting his broad shoulders and tall height.
He looked every bit a prince and even more handsome in the new suit.
Coco had to bite back an impressed smile at the sight, but a giggle slipped past and it was light, almost breathless— her eyes sparkling as she took in the sight of Kairo.
The sound made his chest tighten slightly, a warmth spreading through him.
"My." She cooed, approaching him with a large grin. "Don’t you look so handsome? Didn’t I say that it’s better if this color is what you wear?"
Kairo felt the heat creeping up his neck at her words.
