With that in mind, Kui Yi looked regretful. If he knew that, he would have been braver. However, it was impossible for him to return to Room 906 now. He was brave, but not dumb.

Seeing how disappointed Kui Yi was, Lin Wan ‘Er said, “It’s 409. I think that was what she was trying to tell us.”

Kui Yi was startled. Then, he looked at Lin Wan ‘Er strangely. “How do you know?” He was there. He didn’t see or hear Lin Wan ‘Er communicate with the mad nurse. Was it lipreading? But did… Lin Wan ‘Er know how to lipread?

Lin Wan ‘Er signaled him to look down her body. Kui Yi’s gaze slowly moved down. Her body proportion was amazing, the kind that couldn’t be hidden by loose pyjamas. Her legs were white and straight. Kui Yi’s eyes blazed until…

He shuddered. Inside Lin Wan ‘Er’s exposed calf was the digits, 409. They were written in blood. The blood was already half-dried.

Lin Wan ‘Er held Kui Yi’s gaze and nodded. “The nurse under the bed wrote this. I believe she left something there.” Clearly, this thing was related to the truth in Room 624.

After the joy of getting a new clue receded, Kui Yi had a strange feeling about the woman before him. Curiosity and alertness. 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂

When would the mad nurse leave behind the bloody numbers? It had to be when Lin Wan ‘Er was near the bed. When she adjusted the woman's blanket, the mad nurse seized the opportunity. However, this led to another question. In that situation, a hand suddenly reached out to write something on your leg. Lin Wan ‘Er did not scream, or even flinch. Impossible! That was impossible for normal human beings! Unless… Kui Yi narrowed his eyes. She knew that the person in bed was not the mad nurse. And the real nurse was under the bed!

Similar to Jiang Cheng, Kui Yi’s interest in Lin Wan ‘Er grew. However, he kept the questions to himself because… the answers might be too heavy. He was severely injured. If he angered Lin Wan ‘Er, it would not end well for him… Even if he carried that power. It was a taboo power. He gained it after paying a heavy price. Kui Yi tightened his fists. Whenever he used that power, he felt his soul weaken. Therefore, he wouldn’t use it unless necessary.

According to legends… Everyone who opened the door signed a contract with the power behind the door. Whenever they used the door, they would be corrupted by the force behind the door. Not too long ago, he depended on the door to escape from the ghost… Or else he wouldn’t have just ended up with three slashes on his stomach. The force of that attack was enough to tear him into pieces.

“You are not wrong,” Lin Wan ‘Er suddenly spoke to interrupt his thoughts. “Soon after I entered the room, I realised something was wrong with the person in the bed.

“The mad nurse’s muscles had atrophied due to a lack of activity, but the person in bed was moving their legs swiftly. After that, I quickly scanned the room. I noticed there was another person hiding under the bed. I presumed she was the real nurse.”

“Is that why you walked to the bed? To create a chance to approach the nurse?” Kui Yi was shocked by the woman’s guts. He refused to believe that Lin Wan ‘Er could tell it was a ghost so quickly.

“That’s enough discussion for now.” Lin Wan ‘Er cut him off. “I need to find the rest and go to Room 409.”

Kui Yi hurried to catch up. “Let’s go together. We can watch each other’s backs.” He didn’t want to stay there any longer. When they reached the lobby, they realised the location of the elevator had changed. The elevator didn’t stop at the basement. Instead, it was on the fourth floor.

“Have they gone up?” Kui Yi was pleasantly surprised. Knowing that his teammates were still alive was a relief. It decreased the sense of helplessness.

The hospital was silent at night. It was as if the patients and staff they saw in the morning were parts of their imagination. They didn’t dare to open any rooms to see if they were occupied. After all, who knew if the occupants were humans or ghosts?

The two didn’t discuss and headed up the stairs to the fourth floor. After all, they also needed to go to the fourth floor. The mad nurse mentioned Room 409. By the looks of things, the others might be there as well.

Things went smoother than expected. As they walked up the stairs, they ran into Jiang Cheng’s group. The two parties used some time to probe the other. After seeing that Lin Wan ‘Er was safe, Jiang Cheng’s heart settled. The two groups quickly shared their discovery.

“Room 409?” Jiang Cheng thought about it. “It might not be safe, but I think we have to go there.”

Hearing Kui Yi’s description of the events in Room 906, Yu Yu was worried. “But this might be another trap.

“Xiang Nan has detained the mad nurse, so she might be the one who purposely ordered the mad nurse to give us this information…”

Jiang Cheng cut her off. “The sun is coming up. It’s pointless to worry.” He knew she meant well, but they only had one life. Everyone knew that the mission was on track to meet the deadline set by Director Qi. Even if this might be a trap, they had to walk into it.

Jiang Cheng looked around. There were still 5 of them left. Who entered the room first was a heavy question. After all, this was not a simple exploration. This could be the ghost’s trap.

From the sudden silence, it seemed like no one wanted to volunteer. Yu Yu’s face was pale as she twisted her hands together. Cao Yang lowered his head and refused to look up.

As Jiang Cheng planned to suggest a blind draw, a weak but happy voice travelled over.

“I’ve finally found you!”

The missing Wang Changguo turned the corner. Even though he was limping, he looked like he was in a good mood. When he saw them, he almost cried from joy.
