NO SECOND CHANCE, MY EX-HUSBAND
Chapter 48. A REGRET
Sean bowed his head even lower. For the first time in his life, he truly looked cornered in front of his own parents.
"Dad... please," his voice sounded hoarse with exhaustion. "Give me time to sort everything out."
"Time?" Mr. Weasley laughed angrily. "You think a corporate financial scandal can be resolved just by asking for time?!"
Mrs. Weasley immediately began pacing back and forth, clutching her head.
"Goodness... if this news leaks, our family will be the laughingstock of the entire town."
Sean closed his eyes for a moment.
And unfortunately...
He knew it was true.
The Weasley family name had always been known for being clean, strong, and highly disciplined in business. They’d built the company’s reputation over decades.
But now?
It could all come crashing down just because of his own stupidity—falling head over heels for Moana.
"You even paid for that woman’s plastic surgery using company money!" Mr. Weasley snapped again. "Have you lost your mind since sleeping with her?!"
Sean’s jaw clenched.
He remembered it all now.
Moana whining for more surgeries.
Moana crying because she felt she wasn’t pretty enough.
Moana always wanting to look perfect by his side.
And himself?
He always paid for everything without a second thought.
Because back then, Sean was truly obsessed with Moana.
Mrs. Weasley looked at her son with eyes full of disappointment.
"We used to defend your relationship tooth and nail," she said coldly. "We thought you truly loved her."
Sean let out a hollow chuckle.
"I did love her back then."
"Then look at the result now!" Mr. Weasley snapped harshly. "That woman and her family are trying to destroy you!"
Sean fell silent immediately.
Because once again...
His father was right.
Mr. Freddy was now like a desperate dog ready to bite anyone just to survive.
And Sean knew the man was reckless enough to leak everything to the public.
"You have to stop the Freddy family before they speak," Mr. Weasley continued sharply.
Sean slowly raised his head. "I know."
"No!" his father snapped quickly. "You don’t know anything anymore!"
The room fell silent.
Mr. Weasley pointed at Sean’s face, his emotions becoming increasingly difficult to control.
"You’ve been too busy chasing after Clara that you’ve forgotten your company is on the brink of collapse!"
Those words made Sean freeze for a moment.
Because, unfortunately...
That was also true.
Over the past few days, he had indeed started to lose his focus completely.
Meetings were postponed.
Work was in disarray.
And his mind was filled only with Clara.
Mrs. Weasley shook her head slowly, full of frustration.
"I really don’t recognize you anymore."
Sean laughed softly, without humor.
"Believe me," he said quietly. "I’m starting to not recognize myself either."
Silence.
And for the first time that night, no one shouted anymore.
Because Sean’s face now looked truly terrible.
His eyes were tired.
His jaw was tense.
And for the first time since becoming the Weasley family heir...
The man looked like someone who was starting to lose everything all at once.
Mr. Weasley finally spoke in a lower voice, but it was far more intimidating.
"Listen carefully."
Sean slowly raised his gaze.
"If Freddy’s family opens their mouths first..." his father’s voice was cold and sharp, "I’ll personally remove you from the position of CEO."
Sean’s expression changed instantly.
Mrs. Weasley tensed up as well.
But Mr. Weasley wasn’t joking.
"This company is more important than your foolish love," he continued without mercy. "I won’t let some cheap mistress destroy the family business."
Sean clenched his fists tightly.
Because he knew his father was capable of doing it.
And what hurt the most...
He didn’t even have the right to defend himself anymore.
Mr. Weasley stepped closer until he was standing right in front of his own son.
"You have very little time left now."
Sean stared at his father in silence.
"Take care of Freddy’s family."
"Restore the company."
"And stop your obsession with Clara."
That last sentence felt the hardest.
Because Sean knew...
Of all the chaos unfolding, Clara was the one thing he simply couldn’t let go of.
*******
That night ended badly.
Sean finally walked out of the Weasley family mansion without saying another word. The door of the grand house slammed shut behind him, leaving the echoes of their argument still ringing hot in his head.
The driver immediately opened the car door.
"Sir..."
"Shut up," Sean cut him off softly.
The man got into the car, then leaned his head against the seat and closed his eyes.
Tired.
So tired.
Yet his mind refused to stop racing.
Moana.
Freddy’s family.
The company.
Clara.
Those names kept spinning in his head like poison that wouldn’t stop spreading.
And what disgusted Sean the most was the fact that all this chaos had indeed originated from himself.
The car drove slowly away from the mansion.
But halfway through the journey, Sean suddenly opened his eyes.
"Turn around."
The driver was immediately confused. "Sir?"
"To the Freddy family’s house."
The driver tensed for a moment, but turned the car around without daring to ask any further questions.
---
Meanwhile, at the Freddy family’s small house, the atmosphere was completely different.
Mr. Freddy was laughing contentedly while drinking cheap beer on the sofa. The man’s face looked much more lively than it had in the past few days.
Mrs. Freddy also looked excited.
"I told you so," she said with a smirk. "If you put a little pressure on them, the Weasleys will definitely panic."
Moana sat silently in a chair by the window, staring expressionlessly at her phone.
She had barely spoken since earlier.
Mr. Freddy glanced briefly at his daughter.
"Did you hear that?" he said proudly. "Dad just scared the Weasley family."
Moana finally lifted her head slowly.
"So?"
Mr. Freddy immediately frowned. "What do you mean, ’so’?"
Moana gave a small, hollow laugh.
"You’re too happy just because you managed to make them panic for a moment."
Mrs. Freddy clicked her tongue disapprovingly. "What’s wrong with you? Isn’t this great?"
"Great?" Moana leaned back slowly. "You’re playing with a man like Sean Weasley."
Mr. Freddy snorted immediately.
"He’s just an ordinary person."
"No," Moana replied quickly. "That’s the problem."
The room fell silent.
Moana stared blankly ahead, her gaze far calmer than before.
"I’ve known Sean longer than you have," she said softly. "And the quieter he gets... the more dangerous he usually is."
The sentence had barely finished when the sound of a car stopping was heard outside the house.
Everyone fell silent.
Mrs. Freddy stood up quickly and peeked out the window.
And the woman’s expression changed instantly.
"That’s..."
Mr. Freddy turned to look as well.
A luxurious black car.
Sean came.
The atmosphere in the house immediately grew tense.
Moana, however, didn’t seem surprised at all. Instead, she gave a small smile and murmured softly,
"Well... here he comes."
A few seconds later, there was a knock on the front of door.
Knock.
Knock.
Knock.
Not loud.
But it sounded far more intimidating.
Mr. Freddy hurriedly stood up. He was trying to put on a confident face. He smiled a second.
"Just open it," he said with feigning calm.
But when the door opened...
Sean stood there with a cold expression, vastly different from his usual self.
Not angry.
Not emotional.
And that made it feel even more terrifying.
His gaze was dark and weary at the same time.
"Sean!" Mrs. Freddy immediately tried to smile sweetly. "We actually just wanted to talk things out—"
"I didn’t come here to talk to you."
The woman’s smile faded instantly.
Sean’s gaze shifted directly to Moana.
"Get out."
The room fell silent.
Mr. Freddy immediately stepped forward. "Hey, don’t talk like that in my house."
Sean didn’t even glance at the man.
"I’m trying to hold myself back," he said coldly. "So don’t make me lose my patience."
The man’s aura tonight was completely different.
Even Mr. Freddy, who had been so bold moments ago, began to look nervous.
Moana slowly stood up from her chair.
Her gaze met Sean’s without a hint of fear.
"You look a mess," she said calmly.
Sean gave a hollow chuckle.
"And you look like you’re enjoying this way too much."
Moana stepped closer slowly.
"Are you angry because I dragged your family into this?"
"No."
"Then?"
Sean looked straight at her.
"I’m angry because I once completely ruined my life for a woman like you."
Those words instantly froze the atmosphere.
Mrs. Freddy looked offended.
He immediately flew into a rage. "How dare you!"
But Moana merely smiled faintly. A strange little smile. A little bitter. A little hurt.
"It finally came out," she whispered softly. "About your true feelings."
Sean clenched his jaw. Because unfortunately..., he couldn’t take those words back.
And Moana knew. That woman knew exactly that Sean now regretted everything.
Moana stepped forward. She smiled broadly.
"Sean, how about we settle this amicably? We can both move on with our lives in peace afterward." Moana paused for a moment.
