NO SECOND CHANCE, MY EX-HUSBAND
Chapter 61. YOU’RE A MONSTER
Sean stared at Moana expressionlessly for a few seconds.
The Weasley Group lobby felt even quieter now.
Even the sound of staff footsteps around them began to fade away one by one.
Because everyone knew...
The situation before them had become too dangerous.
"What are you asking?" Sean’s voice was low. Cold. "Are you crazy?"
Moana immediately let out a small, emotional laugh.
"My father went missing after arguing with you!"
"And that automatically means I kidnapped him?"
Sean’s gaze was incredibly sharp now.
Moana took another step forward.
"You threatened him!"
Sean gave a thin smile.
"Half of Texas has threatened your father too."
That statement made several staff members exchange nervous glances.
Because unfortunately...
It was true.
Mr. Freddy was notorious for causing trouble.
Gambling debts.
Bar brawls.
Small-time scams.
Borrowing money and then disappearing.
Sean looked at the flash drive in Moana’s hand again before finally speaking softly,
"Do you really want to play this game?"
Moana clenched the object tightly.
"I’m not afraid of you anymore."
And for the first time...
Sean saw something different in that woman.
Moana was truly cornered now.
Her father was missing.
Her funds were starting to be frozen by the auditors.
The media was beginning to mention her name.
And Sean knew...
A person who loses everything can become desperate.
Sean stepped closer slowly until his voice was barely audible to Moana.
"Listen to me carefully." His gaze was cold and piercing. "If you leak that data to the media..."
He paused for a moment.
"...I’ll make sure you go down with me."
Moana’s breath caught in her throat.
Sean continued calmly,
"The company audit has already uncovered transfers to your account." His laugh was small and hollow. "They also know who’s been enjoying all that money."
Moana’s face began to pale.
"Your luxury apartment." Sean looked her straight in the eyes. "Your car. Your father’s credit card. The casino." His jaw tightened slightly. "All paid for with company money."
Silence.
"And when all that comes out..." Sean smiled a small, venomous smile, "...you’ll be the media’s first target."
Moana’s eyes were welling up now.
Not with sadness.
With fear.
Because for the first time...
She realized Sean truly wouldn’t save her anymore.
Not like before.
There was no longer a man who would quietly pay for all her family’s problems.
All that remained now was a crumbling Sean Weasley, dragging everyone down with him.
Moana bit her lip hard.
"If it’s not you..." her voice began to break, "...help me find my father."
Sean was silent.
His gaze was vacant for a few seconds.
Then he finally replied flatly,
"Your father chose to live like trash for years." His gaze turned cold again. "And now you want me to care that he’s gone?"
Moana glared at him with hatred.
"You’re a monster."
Sean let out a soft, quiet laugh.
But this time...
There was no arrogance in his laughter.
Only exhaustion.
"Yes," he whispered softly. "Maybe that’s exactly who I am now."
Moana stared at Sean for a few seconds, her breath coming in short gasps.
She was still clutching the flash drive tightly in her hand.
But now...
Her hand began to tremble.
Not because she was afraid of the luxurious building.
Not because of the staff watching silently.
But because Sean, standing right in front of her, already felt different.
Cold.
Empty. 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
And no longer caring about anyone.
"You really have no heart, do you..." Moana whispered hoarsely.
Sean gave a hollow chuckle.
"Heart?" His gaze flickered down to the flash drive. "You came to the Weasley Group headquarters to blackmail me, and now you’re talking about hearts?"
Moana clenched her jaw.
"I just want my father back."
"Your father’s a drunk gambler who lives off women’s money and mine."
Sean’s tone remained calm.
But that very calmness felt insulting.
"If he disappears for a few days..." Sean shrugged slightly, "...it wouldn’t even be surprising."
Moana’s eyes were welling up now.
Because even though she hated her own father...
Freddy was still the only family she had.
And Sean knew that.
He knew it all too well.
"It was you, wasn’t it?" Moana’s voice cracked softly. "You made him disappear..."
Silence.
Sean stared straight into her eyes for a long moment.
Then he leaned in slightly.
His voice dropped to a whisper.
"If I’d actually laid a hand on your father..." he whispered coldly, "...do you think you’d still be standing here yelling at me?"
Moana froze instantly.
Because for the first time...
She was truly afraid of Sean.
Not because of his wealth.
Not because of his power.
But because the man looked like someone who’d lost all sense of restraint.
Sean stepped back slowly, then casually adjusted his suit cuffs.
"Now listen to me carefully." His gaze grew sharp again. "You come back to this building with threats..."
He glanced at the flash drive in Moana’s hand.
"...and I’ll make sure your life ends faster than your father spends his gambling money."
Moana’s breath caught in her throat.
Sean continued coldly,
"You’re broke without my money."
The words hit hard.
"Your apartment is still in the company’s name." Sean smiled thinly. "All your credit cards have been blocked. You’re even taking taxis everywhere now! You’re so broke!"
Moana’s eyes immediately turned red.
Because she realized Sean wasn’t bluffing.
That man could truly ruin the rest of her life with just a single signature.
"So before you start playing war games with me..." Sean stared straight at her, "...make sure you have something other than tears and that cheap flash drive."
Silence.
The lobby felt even colder.
Then, slowly...
Moana put the flash drive back in her bag.
But the hatred in her gaze toward Sean didn’t fade one bit.
"You’re going to be ruined someday."
Sean chuckled again.
Tired.
Broken.
"My life is already ruined," he whispered softly. "You’re just late in realizing it."
"Escort Miss Moana out."
Sean’s voice was cold as he spoke without looking back.
Two security guards immediately moved closer cautiously.
Moana’s eyes widened in disbelief.
"You’re kicking me out?"
Sean was already walking toward the private elevator.
He didn’t care.
He wasn’t looking at her anymore.
And that was exactly what made Moana’s anger explode.
"SEAN!"
Several staff members jumped in surprise.
"You psychopath!" Moana screamed, overcome with emotion. "Do you think money can cover up all your sins?!"
The security guards were panicking now.
"Miss, please calm down."
"Don’t touch me!"
Moana roughly swatted away one of the security guards’ hands, nearly causing her bag to fall.
Her face was flushed.
Her eyes were filled with tears and rage.
"My father is missing, and he’s kicking me out!"
The private elevator opened.
Sean stepped inside without so much as a glance back.
And just before the elevator doors closed...
His cold gaze briefly turned back toward Moana.
Empty.
Weary.
Yet it still sent a chill down her spine.
Click.
The elevator doors closed.
Moana stood trembling in the middle of the luxurious lobby, holding back her tears.
And for the first time...
She truly realized.
Sean would never save her again.
An hour later...
The old taxi Moana was riding in stopped in a run-down apartment complex on the outskirts of Texas.
A light drizzle was still falling.
Moana got out quickly, clutching her bag tightly.
Her face was still a mess from her emotions.
Her eyes were puffy.
She hurried up the stairs of the old building, whose peeling paint was starting to flake off.
As soon as the apartment door opened...
The smell of instant noodles and cigarettes hit her immediately.
Her mother was sitting on a small, worn-out sofa watching television with a worried expression.
The middle-aged woman stood up immediately.
"Moana?!"
"Has Dad not come home yet?"
That question made her mother’s face grow even paler.
"Not yet..."
Moana tossed her bag onto the rough sofa.
"I knew something was wrong, Mom."
Her mother began to panic.
"Did you check the bar?"
"I did!"
"How about The casino?"
"I have gone there!"
Moana’s breathing grew heavy again.
"Dad couldn’t have been missing this long. It was something wrong happened to him."
Her mother slumped down, she clutching her chest.
"Was he arrested by the police?"
Moana fell silent. Because one name popped back into her head.
Sean.
That man’s cold stare in the lobby earlier still felt vivid.
And the more she thought about it... The more it sent chills down Moana’s spine.
"I went to the Weasley Group earlier," she said softly.
Her mother snapped her head up.
"What did Sean say?"
Moana let out a small, bitter laugh.
"He kicked me out."
Silence.
"And..." Moana’s breath caught slightly, "...I don’t know why, Mom... but I’m scared."
Her mother began to look confused. She stared at Moana with full of curiosity.
"Scared of what?"
Moana stared blankly at the floor for a few seconds before finally whispering softly,
"I think Sean is really a psychopath."
