Chapter 1373: Chapter 1373: Fighting Alone

No one was around, so Second Turner completely let his guard down.

There weren’t any so-called laws in District 9; although peace was ostensibly maintained on the surface, filthy transactions were not uncommon underneath.

Here, only strength was respected.

And Hannah just happened to have a face that looked utterly defenseless.

Brimming with evil thoughts, Second Turner eyed Hannah’s face with frivolous greed, "Just recently, a merchant group came to Bruce, and with your pretty little face... "

Although Bruce was a small planet, it was also the center of the largest underground auction in the entire star system.

There, anything could be auctioned.

Of course, that included people.

This was what Second Turner had in mind.

It just so happened that lately, the mercenary guild had no good jobs, and he was short on money. If he could really pull off this deal, he wouldn’t have to worry for the next few years.

Hannah stopped two meters away from Second Turner, her smile faint, but her gaze didn’t fall on Second Turner.

It landed behind him.

The mouth of the alley was pitch black, and because it had turned two corners, even the lights from the market street outside couldn’t shine in.

The starlight above and the dim light around the corner were all the brightness this small alley had.

Just as Second Turner was about to make his move, he was startled by Hannah’s gaze and subconsciously turned around as well.

No one was behind him.

Second Turner scoffed, "Little girl, this is District 9. Don’t count on anyone coming to save you."

"Really?"

The wind blew again, the coolness tinting a touch of crimson at the corner of the girl’s eyes. She smiled, elegant and pure, harmless yet dangerous.

Trembling, pitiful, it was incredibly easy to evoke one’s desire to torment.

Second Turner’s eyes were besotted, as if he was enchanted.

The next second, before he could react, he was hit by a stone on the head.

A palm-sized cobblestone, smooth yet hard, hit the ground with a decidedly dull thud.

"Damn it, who the hell dares to hit me!"

Second Turner clutched his head in pain, blood seeping out from the gaps in his hand.

Hannah remained standing in place, not looking at the furious Second Turner, who was cursing her.

She was still gazing behind him.

Second Turner turned his head again, but behind him there was still only darkness, no one else.

Convinced that Hannah was playing tricks, he pointed at her and cursed, "You bitch—"

Before he could finish, another stone came flying at him.

This time hitting the knee, his leg buckled, and he fell to his knees directly in front of Hannah. 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮

"Who dares to ambush me? Don’t think I can’t call a few hundred people here in a minute!"

Hannah looked down at him, throwing his words back at him, "This is District 9, don’t suppose anyone will come to save you."

Second Turner struggled to get up, his vision blurred with a film of blood, his face contorted with ferocity, "Wait, I, Second Turner, will never let you leave District 9 alive, never—"

Smack—

Another blow, this time to the back of the hand.

Because he had pointed his finger at Hannah.

The night was cool as water, the chilly wind whistling.

The darkness in the alley became even more sinister; the pitch-darkness in the distance seemed like a ferocious beast opening its mouth wide, ready to pounce and pierce his neck with its sharp teeth.

Second Turner, who had been full of bluster just moments before, was now sweating coldly with fear, yet he tried to appear composed, "Who’s there? Come out if you dare, let’s fight one on one!"

Hannah laughed near his ear, answering his question with a cool voice, "It’s a ghost."
