Chapter 1416: Regulations
Professor Lawrence’ voice was innately oppressive.
The bustling crowd had quieted down significantly.
Emma also felt somewhat awkward, her smile stiff at the corners as she took the initiative to ease the tension. "This teacher?"
Upon hearing her voice, Professor Lawrence looked over, his stern face still quite intimidating.
He was naturally aware of her identity, but because he held no fondness for the royal family, his tone remained as severe as before. "I am a professor at the Mecha Academy, my surname is Lawrence."
"Sorry, Professor Lawrence," Emma tugged at the corners of her lips, trying to appear gentle and gracious, "Today’s issue was my fault, so please don’t blame them."
She bowed her head slightly in apology, then raised it again, her tone gentle but her demeanor still lofty. 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶
The superiority felt by royal aristocrats was innate.
In their eyes, nobles and commoners simply weren’t from the same world.
Commoners were foolish, quick to shout praises for little benefits, not realizing they were already manipulated by others.
Thus, as the first princess, Emma’s sense of superiority was only amplified.
Professor Lawrence had lived for quite a time, and he was accurate in judging people, so he did not wish to give Emma a way out.
Even though she was a princess.
"This indeed is your fault."
One sentence struck Emma somewhat dazed; she had only meant to be polite, not expecting him to be so blunt.
Emma’s smile grew colder.
Professor Lawrence continued, "Don’t you know that the rule at the Mecha Academy is that outsiders must notify the academy’s professors in advance when they visit?"
To outsiders, the Mecha Academy was the empire’s premier institution, so prestigious that its students were chosen from tens of thousands, its status nearly equating that of the royal family.
This regulation indeed existed.
However, over the years, it had become an unwritten rule that members of the royal aristocracy could enter directly, so Emma had forgotten about it.
If it really came down to it, her previous access was because Wayne Lane was present, and this time, she indeed had broken the rule.
When it came down to admitting her fault, Emma found herself unable to apologize.
A side male student couldn’t bear it and spoke up in her defense. "Professor Lawrence, Emma is also..."
"Also what?" Professor Lawrence, with his hands behind his back, silenced the male student with a look.
He then addressed the gathering crowd, "Don’t you have classes? What are you doing standing around here? What’s the purpose of your attendance at the academy? It’s to study! Not to crowd around and make a fuss! Can making a fuss make you a Mech Master? Can it allow you to defeat your enemies? Everyone go back to class!"
The crowd dispersed.
Jay Brown also turned to leave.
He had taken only two steps when Professor Lawrence stopped him, "Jay, you stay."
Samuel Hoffman was sweating in fear, standing right next to Jay.
Only then did everyone notice Jay, who stood outside the crowd.
Being one of the prominent figures among the students, he was well-known.
Yet, it was unexpected that Jay, usually only interested in mechas, would join such a scene.
"He must be here to see Emma, right?"
"Definitely, who wouldn’t want to see Emma, the first princess!"
"I think Professor Lawrence is making too much of a fuss. If we talk about capabilities, Emma is rather formidable herself. Her spiritual power was tested to be above S-rank in her earlier years, nearly catching up to Wayne Lane..."
The crowd’s murmuring quieted.
But these words still reached Professor Lawrence’s ears.
He shook his head and sighed.
