Chapter 1437: Chapter 1437: Giving Gifts

He was always holding an old book with yellowed pages in his hand.

Sixth Hoffman once curiously leaned over to take a look.

He did not recognize a single character inside.

They were all traditional characters, written with a brush.

After entering the First Year of Stellar, such books had already become rare items.

Most of them had been collected by the imperial royal family in their library.

...

That evening, Hannah returned.

She was carrying a big backpack.

And headed straight for Qingyu’s tent.

Qingyu was a very regimented person, who would go to bed at eight o’clock every night without fail.

But today it was already ten o’clock, and there was still a light on in his tent.

Hannah didn’t go straight in but called out his name at the entrance, "Qingyu."

It was very quiet inside, and after two seconds, something seemed to fall to the ground.

Then came the boy’s somewhat unsteady voice, "Wait a moment."

After a while, the boy lifted the tent flap and revealed a pale face.

He was still breathing heavily, and his normally pale lips were tinged with blood, giving off a delicate, fragile beauty that was almost brutal.

Seeing Hannah outside the door, he awkwardly moved his hand behind his back, "Why have you come?"

Hannah acted as though she hadn’t noticed anything, shaking the backpack in her hand, "I’ve brought you some things."

Qingyu was taken aback for a moment.

Hannah looked at him, "Aren’t you going to invite me to sit inside?"

He seemed somewhat slow to react, never before having been so rude as to let a guest stand outside the door.

Feeling embarrassed once he realized, he quickly stepped aside, "Come in."

Hannah walked in.

Her sharp eyes noticed several broken pieces of porcelain in a corner.

The earlier noise was probably Qingyu accidentally dropping a teacup.

Hannah placed the backpack on the table, opened it, and took out the items one by one, "I brought you some new clothes and a few books. They may not compare to what you used before, but they’ll do for now. I’ll get you better ones later."

She finished speaking and turned around to see Qingyu still standing in the same spot.

As if in a daze.

"What’s wrong?" she asked.

Qingyu came back to his senses and saw the table filled with long robes and books. He said hesitantly, "You went out for so long, just to find these things for me?"

Hannah turned back, zipped up the backpack again, and placed it aside, "Not entirely. I just happened to see them and thought I’d bring them back for you."

Qingyu walked over and stood next to Hannah.

He had grown a bit taller recently but was still not as tall as Hannah. He didn’t want to lift his head to look at her because that would mean looking into her eyes.

So he kept his head down, "I actually don’t need these things."

He was already doing well now.

At least better than being a homeless refugee who had to face expulsion.

Hannah looked at him, "Little monk, what are you thinking about?"

Qingyu shook his head.

He had just taken a bath, and his hair was loose, wearing only a light garment, making him look even more slender.

Hannah placed the backpack on a chair nearby, "Are you worried that I’ll find you troublesome and end up driving you away one day?" 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎

She had hit the nail on the head.

Qingyu looked up, his eyes first filled with shock, then anxiety, and finally fear.

Hannah poured herself some water, and Qingyu quickly took the teapot from her hands.

Accidentally touching her warm skin, Qingyu quickly lowered his head again.

His ears, covered by his long hair, turned even redder.

He lived like an ancient nobleman, gentle and reserved, abiding by etiquette.

"I won’t drive you away," said Hannah, taking the teacup back from Qingyu’s hands and sipping lightly.
