Chapter 26: [026] Death?

The three items were placed neatly inside the bronze gift box.

Floki stared at the three of them with anticipation evident in his eyes, eager to decipher what they were. ๐‘“๐˜ณ๐‘’๐‘’๐“Œ๐˜ฆ๐˜ฃ๐˜ฏโ„ด๐‘ฃ๐˜ฆ๐‘™.๐˜ค๐‘œ๐‘š

Nonetheless, just as he was about to reach for the items inside, his balance was suddenly broken as the rumbling of the cave finally affected him.

Flokiโ€™s strength and stamina both worked hand in hand at that moment as he managed to maintain his footing despite the violent quakes beneath him.

โ€™I have to take everyone out of here before the dungeon disappears. Who knows what would happen when it does and someone is still within it?โ€™

The thought lingered briefly in his mind before settling.

With that decision in mind, Floki pushed against the quake and strode towards the nearest person. It was the black-haired woman who had answered his questions earlier.

She was crying fervently, her body trembling uncontrollably, clearly still afraid that death was coming.

The guilt Floki had been pushing back since earlier resurfaced once more.

For a moment, his expression stiffened slightly.

He had added to the fears of someone who was already traumatized.

But it yielded results anyway.

โ€™I am not a bad person at all.โ€™

"Help me hold this."

He placed the box in her care as he could not store it in his inventory. Also, he could not carry her and the box at the same time.

The black-haired woman listened and held the box close to her chest, her hands shaking slightly as she continued to cry.

Floki reached out and grabbed her in a princess carry, ensuring not to stare at her nakedness in a weird way that would make her uncomfortable.

Pushing through the rumbling with strength and willpower, he moved as fast as he could and brought her outside the cave.

Because he was so focused on rescuing everyone, he ignored the sliced rock boulder at the entrance, clearly the handiwork of Breeze.

He rushed back inside and focused on his rescue mission completely.

With his agility, strength, and stamina, it took him less than a minute to carry one person out of the cave.

There were only sixteen people; that meant it would take approximately sixteen minutes, which was less than the twenty minutes that the dungeon had before it collapsed and disappeared.

At least, that was what he calculated.

Unfortunately, after successfully rescuing eight of them, his body began to grow weary as his stamina was being depleted.

His breathing grew heavier, and his steps became slightly slower.

But he pushed through and went inside.

This time, it took more than a minute to take one person outside because his strength had reduced and his speed had slowed down a bit.

Each trip became more taxing than the last.

[ Dungeon disintegration will take place in one minute ]

When he got back inside to carry the last woman, the red-hued warning flashed in front of his retina.

Not only had the warning sounded, but the rumbling grew even worse, and even maintaining his own balance became a tedious task.

"Shit.."

He cursed loudly.

He moved faster and grabbed the woman who was breathing shallowly due to anxiety.

She was in her early middle age with blonde hair, and ignoring the dirt on her body, she was above average.

"Breathe. Donโ€™t panic."

"Iโ€™ll get you out of here."

Floki looked down at her and spoke in a gentle yet firm tone which did not match his fast-beating heart.

He tightened his grip around her carefully and accelerated forward, his eyes set on the exit of the hall which led to the passageway.

He gritted his teeth.

โ€™I can do this..โ€™

His stamina was draining faster due to the condition of his surroundings and the woman in his grasp, who weighed quite heavy as she was slightly chubbier than the others.

Floki did not fault her for her weight. He blamed himself for being so weak that carrying a woman in such a situation was difficult.

That thought lingered as he pushed forward.

[ Dungeon disintegration will take place in thirty seconds ]

With this last warning, the rumbling grew even worse.

Cracks appeared over the walls and roof of the cave, spreading quickly, and small rocks began to fall to the ground.

One almost landed atop Flokiโ€™s head, but he avoided it with a quick step forward.

โ€™Fuck... Fuck..โ€™

Floki cursed harder.

The strain in his legs grew worse by the second, and not just that, he had not even reached halfway to the entrance.

The woman began to sob harder as sand from the destruction poured over them, temporarily blinding her eyes.

"Hold on tighter."

Floki warned her with his strained voice as he gritted his teeth, grunting while he pushed with all his power.

He moved faster, ignoring the pain in his legs that grew worse the more he tried to overpower the situation.

The woman, realizing the dire situation they were in, clung her arms tightly around his neck.

[ Dungeon disintegration will take place in ten seconds ]

The disintegration became more intense. Larger rocks fell and blocked their path, some even threatening to crush them.

But Floki maintained his sight on the entrance that was still quite far away, ignoring the notification.

Some smaller rocks fell on him and left painful scratches, but he pushed even harder, running like a madman, ignoring obstacle after obstacle.

He kept motivating himself and ignoring the pain.

Outside, the others could already feel the cave crumbling.

The women stood with their hands on their mouths, anxiously looking at the entrance, awaiting the exit of their savior.

Jabba and Anton were not calm either; the two were already visibly panicking.

With sheer power, he managed to lessen the gap.

The entrance was only a few steps away, but the countdown had already reached its crucial moment.

[ The Dungeon is disintegrating ]

Just as the last warning sounded to mark the total end of the dungeon, Floki applied all his strength to his lower body and leapt forward, not caring about anything except his survival and that of the woman in his grasp.

Time seemed to slow down slightly.

The others saw his attempt, each displaying varying reactions from anticipation, fear, and worry.

The next second, the look on their faces transformed into horror and shock as the entire cave, which once stood, completely crumbled and vanished as though it had never existed.

A violent gust of wind surged outward from where the dungeon once stood, sweeping across the area and forcing everyone to shield their faces.

A heavy and oppressive silence followed afterward.

The ground where the cave had once been was now empty, eerily still, as if nothing had ever been there.

Jabba and Anton froze.

The women hugged each other and began to weep.

Nonetheless, before the wailing grew deeper, two figures suddenly burst out from the empty space and slammed harshly onto the ground.

It was Floki and the woman he was carrying.

They remained still for a brief moment.

"YOUNG CHIEF!"

"SAVIOR!"

All of them shouted at the same time as they ran towards the two of them.
