100X Return System: My Talent Awakening Becomes a God-Level Cheat-Chapter 18: The Pedestal Crystal
In the midst of nothing but snow and dust. Low mountains of freezing temperature and trees the size of a story building covered in ice, spread across.
The surrounding was gloomy and silent, the sky was dark purple in color indicating that this ring was in nothing but surrounded by an Abyss.
On the ground, laid corpses of both humans and monsters, but the majority were humans.
Around the corpses were human beings, living humans who were searching the area, it was Nyra and the other Farmers.
"Captain, there isn’t a single soul alive." Natsu came to Nyra and explained.
"Have you double checked?" She asked, and Natsu simply nodded, saying.
"We have double checked and we didn’t see any one who still has breath in them."
Hearing this, Nyra felt like she had failed them. Like she was responsible for the death of these fallen Farmers, but she alone couldn’t bear the burden.
Sinon walked up to Nyra and placed her hand on Nyra’s shoulder before saying.
"Don’t blame yourself, there was no way all of us were going to make it out alive anyways."
Nyra turned to Sinon as she was consoled, then she turned back to Natsu and asked.
"Have you done a number on the dead? I need a number, even if it’s rough."
Natsu stared at Nyra for a moment then he turned to Chrome who then spoke, facing Nyra.
"We don’t know how many died. But we did get a number on us, the living."
He stood for a moment, stared at a corpse beside him, then continued.
"We are roughly a hundred, including Aegon. And considering from the start we were about five hundred. After I did the calculations, the dead should be over four hundred, assuming there are no other survivors."
Nyra nodded as she took the information into her heart.
It was normal for Farmers to die in the Abyss, but this number was a whole lot.
"That’s a big loss for the Farmers Industry." Sinon muttered.
Of course she was right, but that wouldn’t make too much of an impact as there were people everyday who registered to become a Farmer.
So the industry wasn’t running dry anytime soon. And with the benefits that comes with being a Farmer, who wouldn’t want to become one?
"And we have to go on with this for the next one hundred and twenty-seven times?"
The words left Sheila’s lips and for a moment everywhere went silent.
The thought of how many had died, and they were just in their first ring and hadn’t even made the first movement; almost drove some Farmers to madness.
Just thinking about it, was enough for them to wish death would come fast. But what could they do?
The only hope they could get was to pray they get out alive
Sheila looked at Sinon, then at Chrome, and then at Nyra, while...
Nyra looked around for a bit and a cold wind blew, taking with it dust and torn clothes of the dead.
"That’s enough, we should get going. We have less than five hours to find the Pedestal Crystal."
..
This first ring was around five to eight miles wide, about the size of a small town, and these Farmers were on a journey to find an object they didn’t even know how it looked like.
It was going to be tough for them to walk together because they wouldn’t get any fast results that way.
So Nyra came up with an idea.
"I think we should split up..." she uttered, and every Farmer turned their gaze towards her.
"Since we are about a hundred, we can divide ourselves into five groups and spread out to search for the Pedestal Crystal."
Hearing this, a voice spoke out asking.
"And if a group finds the Pedestal Crystal first, how would the other groups know?"
"That’s true..." another added.
The question hung in the air as most farmers mumbled amongst themselves, but there was one who could give an answer.
Nyra, who was asked the question, stood and gazed at a far distance, her thoughts occupied.
Then Chrome stepped towards her and immediately Nyra turned to face him.
"Do you have an idea?" She asked, as though expecting something, and he nodded.
"Of course, although it would be difficult, I think it would still work, as that’s the only way."
"Go on..."
"This spot is good." Chrome began. "I think we should make a particular area where we could meet."
"This ring is only the size of a small town and if we put in the effort we can sweep the entire place in two hours."
"Although we wouldn’t go to the part where Aegon is fighting, but if that’s where the Pedestal Crystal is, well..."
He paused and stared at Nyra with an almost defeated expression, but she didn’t feel that way.
Her gaze was tough and determined as a lioness, then she said.
"That wouldn’t be a problem. I have a feeling that it wouldn’t be there, so we are good to search the other areas."
Chrome didn’t argue or feel doubtful about her claim, because it was Nyra.
"Your hunches are always correct." He commented.
Nyra nodded and then spoke to everyone:
"Alright, we would do that then." She stopped and scanned the area.
"This will be our meet up spot. All groups would go and look for the Pedestal Crystal, and after two hours we should be back here, if not found."
"But if a group finds it first, they should come back on time, and send four different people to call the other groups back, so we can all go together."
Hmm... make sense...
Make sense...
That’s the best idea so far...
The Farmers all agreed with her plan and immediately began to move into five groups.
Of course, Nyra and her party stayed in the same group, and Sinon also joined them.
They were group A and the others were group B, C, D, and E.
"I wish you all luck, and if you encounter any monsters... Well, don’t die."
Nyra bid the other groups luck and they all went their separate ways.
"_-_"
It had already been thirty minutes since they left and began searching.
Nyra and her party, as well as the other Farmers that tagged along, all looked as though they had been walking for ages.
It was expected, as they were seeing the same thing over and over again. From the sound of the cold wind, to the freezing temperature, and the distance of nothing.
"We have been walking for almost half an hour now, and haven’t seen anything. Perhaps a certain group has gotten to the Crystal first?"
Sinon voice was strained as the words left her lips, just then she got a reply.
"It isn’t a game, Sinon..." Nyra, uttered. "If any group got to the Crystal first they would alert us."
"Of course, but how would we know on time? We have been walking for half an hour, and if they were to reach us, it would also take them half an hour."
Sinon words were deep indeed and Nyra didn’t even have the strength to give her a reply, but Chrome did.
"If that’s the case, whosoever is the messenger would have to run if they want to catch up to us, that way they would cover more ground."
Nyra turned towards Sinon and made a gesture mocking her, that said ’you see, simple.’ 𝑓𝘳𝑒𝑒𝓌𝘦𝘣𝘯ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝑚
Just as Chrome finished speaking, he halted and Nyra who was facing Sinon noticed his sudden stop and also stopped facing him.
She was about to speak, but Chrome interrupted saying:
"Over there."
Nyra turned and followed the direction his fingers were pointing at.
Standing before them stood a white forty-five inch pedestal, with a cylindrical shape.
On top of the pedestal was a crystal illuminating several colors with light so bright it touched the above.
Nyra and the other Farmers all gazed in awe as they already knew exactly what it was, and at this moment all they could think of was how magnificent it was.
Just then, in the beautiful silence a random voice broke out, asking:
"Who would go tell the others?"
