100X Return System: My Talent Awakening Becomes a God-Level Cheat-Chapter 5: Becoming a Farmer [2]: Talent Awakening
After the catastoprohic storm that hit the world three years ago, while monster and the Abyss appeared, mana also did.
Everyone who was fortunate enough during that time were able to perceive mana and awaken a talent.
This is called a Natural Talent Awakening.
However, not everyone who could perceive mana was able to awaken a talent at that moment.
Knowing this, the strongest had to find a solution and there for came up with a Talent Awakening done in the hunter’s association.
Those who can perceive mana but didn’t awaken a talent although rare, were given the opportunity to undergo a Forced Talent Awakening.
Although this might seem artificial knowing that it didn’t happen naturally, there is actually no difference.
As long as someone can perceive mana they are bound to awaken at some point, but it would take a lot of time. The FTA (Forced Talent Awakening) is only a way to reduce that much time into a single moment.
Therefore, if a person who can perceive mana is supposed to awaken in three months, the FTA would narrow that time to a week or two.
While most people awaken a talent on the spot, most don’t until after a time; but a short time.
In the past, three years since mana had appeared in the world and people awaken various talents, it has been recorded that the majority of people who awaken during this time are from the age seventeen to twenty-five.
And now seeing that Aegon was not younger than seventeen the lady behind the counter was left perplexed. 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖
’How come at his age he hasn’t awaken a talent?’ she thought.
"_-_"
Hearing the lady ask how he didn’t have a talent in shock, made Aegon wonder.
"Is it unusual?"
Upon hearing this, the lady turned to her peers to see their reaction but none of them were paying attention as they were attending to other people.
She then turned back and thought in her heart:
’How can he ask such a question, doesn’t he know that it’s rare for people like him? Where has he been all these years?’
No one was to be blamed as Aegon had only leaped into the future, so it was common that most knowledge wouldn’t have reached his ears.
"Well it doesn’t matter. If you don’t have a talent yet, would you like to go through an FTA?" the lady asked.
This much was known, and the knowledge had reached Aegon’s ears.
He didn’t utter a word but gave a slight nod of affirmation.
"Then, come with me."
The lady stood up from where she was seated and headed to a door that was opposite to the counter desk, while Aegon followed suit.
They both entered a large room about the size of a basketball court. It was dimming with neon lights that gave a unique attraction.
Although they were attractive, the best thing of all was the giant black orb of metal sitting at the center.
It looked like it was made out of metal and stones, carved perfectly in a circular shape.
As it stood proud in the room, it emitted waves of sounds like that of a refrigerator.
Aegon wasn’t stunned when he entered the room, neither from the neon lights nor the giant black orb at the center.
The lady noticed this and was forced to speak:
"Most people who come in here are always filled in awe. You are the first one I’m seeing that isn’t."
Aegon, hearing this glanced at the lady for a second and set his attention back at the orb.
Without any conversation started by Aegon, the lady who still had a smile on her face felt intrigued, and wanted to know his story. But, that wasn’t her job.
She went behind the orb and turned a certain switch on which made the black orb to glow in both black and wine color.
"Please step on the stand and place your hand on the Orb." The lady instructed.
Aegon climed the two stairs as he had gotten closer to the Orb. The lady at that moment went behind a computer and gestured.
Aegon hesitated for a second, letting out a breath, then afterwards he raised his right arm and placed it on the orb.
For a moment nothing happened as something was supposed to, but nothing did.
The lady looked down at the computer, rolled her hair to the back of her ear and typed something.
"Please can you remove your arm and place it again?"
Aegon turned to the lady as she said this then he turned back to the Orb, and placed his arm on it once more.
During this time, nothing happened again, however the smile that was on the lady’s face vanished suddenly as her pupils shrank.
Just before she could break the news a man dressed in a cooperate wear, entered the room and asked the lady:
"What’s wrong?" he approached her and took a look at the computer.
"What? A F-Rank Talent?"
The words left the man’s lips as he exclaimed with an expression of shock and mockery.
The man left the lady and approached Aegon breaking the news, he told him he had awakened a F-Rank Talent, which was a very low rank.
As the man told this to Aegon, the lady also left the computer and stood at the side of the man, her expression pale; opposite from the smile she was displaying earlier.
It was a if what she was looking for wasn’t available anymore.
Upon hearing these words come out from the man’s mouth Aegon had to question.
"And, is that not normal?"
Both the lady and the man glanced at each other in shock as they heard these words. Who in their right mind would think that was normal?
Aegon left the room back to the counter with the lady. Since he had already gone through a talent awakening, it was time for him to get his Farmer’s license.
While the lady had already gotten to the back of the counter, Aegon was already standing before her.
At this moment, she was preparing his license when suddenly, murmuring began arising from the crowd.
"What?!"
"A F-Rank Talent?"
"How’s that even possible?"
"The lowest rank a Farmer can ever get is an E-rank Low Stage, so how come he has something lower."
"This is the same as calling it a failed awakening."
"Is he still trying to become a Farmer?"
"Bro should go and find a reasonable job if he knows what’s good for him."
Upon hearing these statements it was already known that word had gotten out.
It wasn’t from Aegon, and it sure wasn’t from the lady because they both left the room together.
The only person that could have spread the words were... the man in cooperate wear.
Aegon didn’t pay this any mind as he had a reason for entering the Abyss; he wasn’t going there for the resources, or for the money he could make.
He was going in for a specific purpose, one that he cannot leave behind.
The lady, who also heard the mockery, had already finished creating Aegon Farmer’s license and while handing it to him, she said with a calm and plain expression:
"I suggest that you take the easy way out. The Abyss is no place for the weak."
With an expressionless face, Aegon collected his Farmers’ license and turned around, not giving the lady any response.
The mumblings could still be heard while he walked out of the building, but he paid no attention to them.
He had undergone a Talent Awakening, became a Farmer, and now; he had his final stop.
"The Abyss."
