30 Days of Passion and Revenge-Chapter 154: Drunken Mistake
Lily no longer resisted, leaning gently against Alex’s chest, her eyes again falling on the diamond ring on her finger.
Alex drove her home, but before he could finish a cup of tea, her father, Henry Anderson, shooed him out, saying, "It’s too late. You two can get cozy after you’re married. Now go home."
Alex gave Lily a bitter glance while Lily helplessly looked back at him...
Her dad’s temper was becoming more and more stubborn.
"Bye-bye." She waved to Alex at the elevator, then turned to walk back inside when her phone rang.
Lily pulled out her phone and saw that Ethan was calling again.
She froze, staring at the number on the screen before finally turning the phone off and not answering.
"Dad, do you have some issue with Alex?" Lily asked as she walked into the living room.
Henry was sitting on the sofa watching TV. Without looking up, he humorously replied, "Every father-in-law has something against his son-in-law—because that man took away his darling from her past life."
The idea that a daughter is her father’s lover from a past life?
Lily laughed, sitting beside him and peeling an orange to hand to Henry. After a moment, she asked, "Is that really all?"
"What else could it be?" Henry stuffed a segment of orange into his mouth and picked up the family photo next to the phone.
In the picture, her father looked handsome, her mother beautiful, and young Lily smiled brightly...
Henry’s fingers caressed the image of the family, and the fine wrinkles at the corners of his eyes twitched as his eyes reddened. "The Anderson Company is gone... your mother is gone too..."
"Dad..."
Looking at Henry’s expression, Lily suddenly felt a wave of sadness. They had assembled a home again, but it would never be whole.
Her mother had jumped to her death, leaving their family of three forever incomplete...
"Daughter, you must understand that everything I’ve done is for our family. Our family was torn apart..." Henry’s voice suddenly turned emotional, tears spilling from his eyes.
Lily was shocked.
In her memory, despite the company’s bankruptcy and her mother’s suicide, her father had never shed a tear. Now, when everything seemed to be turning around, her proud and robust father was crying.
"Dad..." Lily moved closer, wrapping her arms around him in a hug. But Henry’s following words stunned her even more: "What do you mean our family was torn apart?! What are you talking about?"
Could something else have happened back then?!
"It’s nothing." Henry put the family photo down and, still held by Lily, gently patted her face. "Daughter, whatever was taken from us, we must take it back. Understand?"
Lily shook her head.
Her father seemed to have hidden meanings in his words tonight.
"Daughter, you will always be your father’s precious treasure; no one can ever change that," Henry said, wiping the tears from his face. His deep, pleasant voice was choked with emotion. "Don’t hate your father."
"Dad?" Lily looked at him, confused. "I don’t understand..."
Ding Dong—
The doorbell rang, cutting off their conversation. Henry patted her face again and said, "Go answer the door."
"Oh, alright."
Lily glanced at her father suspiciously, then answered the door.
When she opened it, she saw Nanny and Butler Angus standing there. Angus had a bruise on his face.
Lily didn’t have time to worry about that. Shocked to see them, she glanced over her shoulder nervously—her father was still in the living room watching TV without coming over.
Quickly stepping outside and closing the door behind her, Lily whispered, "Nanny, what are you two doing here?!"
If her father saw them, she’d have a hard time explaining.
Nanny tightly gripped Lily’s hand, pleading emotionally, "Miss Anderson, please come see Mr. Blackwood. He’s been drinking himself into a stupor at the hotel. He’s hitting anyone who tries to stop him. If he keeps drinking like this, he’ll get alcohol poisoning."
Lily glanced at Angus’s face. He nodded heavily, "Yes, it was Mr. Blackwood who hit me."
That man...
Did he even hit someone like Butler Angus, who had been with the family for so long?!
Does he have that much violence in him?!
"If he wants to drink, I can’t stop him," Lily said instinctively, trying to refuse.
She didn’t want to be involved with anything related to Ethan anymore.
"Miss Anderson, only you can stop him. Mr. Blackwood has been calling out your name over and over. No one else can calm him down," Nanny begged, gripping her hand tightly. "Miss Anderson, please, for the sake of this old woman, could you just go see him?"
Lily couldn’t bear to see Nanny, a middle-aged woman, begging her like this. She sighed and said, "Alright, I’ll go with you, but you both must stay by my side. If he starts hitting me...
What she feared even more was that Ethan, once drunk, would try to do what he had done last time at the hotel...
She couldn’t betray Alex.
"He won’t, he won’t. Mr. Blackwood wouldn’t have the heart to hit you, Miss Anderson," Nanny said, instantly relieved.
Nanny, don’t speak like you’ve never seen Ethan hit me.
Lily returned inside, changed into her outdoor shoes, and said, "Dad, I’m going downstairs to buy something."
"Don’t go sneaking off to see Alex," Henry’s voice came from the living room.
"Of course not."
She was about to marry Alex. Did she still need to sneak around to see him?
Lily put on a coat and left with Nanny and Butler Angus. Nanny let out a long sigh of relief. "It’s good you’re coming with us, Miss Anderson."
Mr. Blackwood rarely got drunk, but the last two times he had, it had both been because of Miss Anderson.
When Mr. Blackwood would spend his time mingling with all sorts of women, Nanny thought it was terrible... But now that he was utterly fixated on only one woman, Miss Anderson, to the point of drinking himself into a mess, Nanny thought it was even worse...
Sigh...
Who would have thought that Mr. Blackwood would become like this once he fell in love? It was almost better than before.
Suddenly, Lily thought of something and asked, "Nanny, how did you know my address?"
Nanny smiled awkwardly. "After you left the Blackwood family, Mr. Blackwood had all your information checked..."
Finding her address or phone number wouldn’t be difficult for someone like Ethan, would it?
Wait, how did Ethan know she was at Alex’s house tonight and call the seaside villa?!
Had he been having her followed?
Or had he tracked her phone’s GPS? It wouldn’t have been the first time he’d done that.
This man...
Lily glanced at her phone, her emotions growing more complicated. Had Ethan been keeping tabs on her ever since she left?
The car arrived outside the 30 Days Memorial Hotel. It was the same hotel where Ethan had imprisoned her last time and where he had planned to surprise her...
Nanny led her inside. The hotel staff were gathered in small groups, whispering to each other. When they saw Lily and the others enter, a manager hurried over and stuttered nervously, "N-Nanny... Is this... Miss Anderson?"
"Yes," Nanny nodded.
So this was the Mr. Blackwood had mentioned hundreds of times?
That’s—it’s—over!
The manager nervously wiped his sweat with a handkerchief. "Th-Then there’s no need to go... Mr. Blackwood is... busy..."
"Busy with what? He’s busy drinking," Nanny, who had been with Ethan for years, didn’t care about these managers. She grabbed Lily’s hand and pulled her toward the elevator.
They took the elevator straight to the 30th floor, where Nanny led Lily to the hotel room where she had been imprisoned last time. Angus and a few senior managers followed behind them.
The door was slightly ajar. Nanny pushed it open forcefully, and it swung wide.
"Ah..."
The managers behind them gasped in shock, startling Lily.
"What are you screaming about?"
Lily turned back, confused. The managers awkwardly laughed, wiping the sweat from their faces. "Nothing, nothing."
Was it really that hot today?
Lily glanced at Nanny, who looked just as confused before they both continued inside.
"Mmm... Mr. Blackwood... Help me take off my bra..."
"Mm... Ugh... The underwire is hurting me..."
The sound of a woman’s moans filled the room.
Lily’s face went pale. She finally understood why the managers had behaved the way they did and what Ethan was "busy" with.
Nanny realized something was wrong and tried to pull Lily out, but it was too late.
On the large, five-seater leather sofa, a man had a woman’s slender body pinned beneath him. His handsome face was slightly flushed, his eyes closed, and his lips roamed over the woman’s face. His large hands were tugging at the lace dress she was wearing.
It was an indecent scene.
Ethan...
Lily stood there, staring blankly at the scene in front of her...
The woman beneath him kept moaning and gasping, her bare arms wrapped around Ethan’s neck, her full chest pressing against his. "Mr. Blackwood... mm..." Don’t just kiss me... I’m yours tonight... ugh..."
The two on the sofa were lost in a passionate kiss, seemingly on the verge of engaging in a more primal act.
Ethan’s suit and tie were scattered on the floor, as were the woman’s stockings and several empty bottles.
Lily couldn’t quite describe how she was feeling at that moment. Her eyes remained fixed on the two people locked in a deep kiss on the sofa.
And this man... had just been cursing her over the phone for being heartless, shouting that it was his first time confessing to a woman...
So this was how he dealt with rejection—by sleeping with another woman.
This was Ethan Blackwood.
A wave of anger surged in Lily’s heart, growing more intense with every passing second.
If she stayed any longer, she felt like she would burn this hotel to the ground!
Finally, Lily broke her gaze from the scene and turned to look at Nanny, her voice cold, "It seems I’m not needed here."
Why did she agree to come?!
Did Ethan really think he would die for a woman like her?
What a joke.
Women flocked to him like fish in a river. How could a man like him understand what love even meant?
"Miss Anderson... I..." Nanny was at a loss for words, turning to scold the managers, "Where did this woman come from?!"
"Mr. Blackwood kept demanding Miss Anderson... W-We didn’t want to get beaten up by him, so we just found someone..."
"Are you insane?! Do you think you can just find anyone?! You’ve completely messed everything up!"
Great.
Nanny had hoped to use this opportunity to reconcile things between Miss Anderson and Mr. Blackwood. Now, that hope was shattered entirely...
"Miss Anderson, I’ll go wake up Mr. Blackwood. He’s drunk and confused," Nanny gestured to Angus, and they both rushed forward to push Ethan. "Mr. Blackwood? Mr. Blackwood?! Miss Anderson is here..."
Lily watched coldly for a moment before turning to leave, but Angus stepped in front of her, blocking her way. "Apologies, Miss Anderson, but you can’t leave yet."
Lily finally realized how big of a mistake it was to come here. "Move."
"Miss Anderson, please help give Mr. Blackwood some sobering tea," Butler Angus said, giving her a formal bow.
"He doesn’t need to sober up. I think he’s doing just fine as he is," Lily said, glancing at Ethan, who had just shoved Nanny to the ground. She let out a cold laugh. "Why bother waking him up? You’d be better off sending more women to him!"
