30 Days of Passion and Revenge-Chapter 187: Ethan’s Frantic Chase
Ethan glared at her with his dark eyes, then suddenly jumped out of the car, strutting toward her with an arrogant, imposing attitude. "Who the hell are you?!"
"You don’t remember me?" Sophia Bennett blinked at the ridiculously handsome man in front of her. They had met before, and yet he had utterly forgotten her?
"How the hell should I remember who you are!" Ethan snapped, his cold gaze fixed on her. "What did you say about Lily Anderson?!"
If it hadn’t been for hearing her mention of Lily, he wouldn’t have bothered turning back.
"You... don’t even remember Lily?" Sophia’s eyes widened in shock, and then her face darkened. "Is this how rich men treat women? She spent over a month with you, and you’ve already forgotten her? What a waste of my time!"
With that, Sophia turned on her heel, storming away angrily.
She had thought she could help repair Lily’s relationship, but these rich men... They were disgusting! Absolutely disgusting!
"Get back here!" Ethan roared, stepping forward and grabbing her shoulder, spinning her around. His dark eyes were terrifying. "What do you mean she left?!"
His gaze was so cold it felt like it could devour everything in its path.
Sophia gasped but still mustered the courage to shout, "Lily loves you! Even when she was about to marry Alex, you were the only person on her mind! But now, you’ve forgotten her completely. She was right to leave! She should get as far away from you as possible!"
It’d be best if she cut ties with this ridiculously handsome but heartless rich man entirely.
"Left? Left where?" A flash of panic crossed Ethan’s eyes, and he growled, "Tell me clearly! What do you mean she left?!"
Judging by his reaction, it didn’t seem like he had forgotten Lily after all...
"She left. She said she was leaving the city and told me to send you a letter soon. But from how she looked, she wasn’t ready to let you go!" Sophia pulled a letter from her bag and tossed it at Ethan.
The envelope hit him and fell to the ground. Ethan’s gaze turned icy as he glared at her.
Sophia took a frightened step back.
Ethan didn’t bother yelling at her again. He bent down, picked up the envelope, and tore it open.
Inside was a strange black-and-white photo that he couldn’t make sense of...
What was Lily trying to tell him with this picture?!
"Ah—"
Sophia screamed as soon as she saw the photo.
The sharp, piercing sound made Ethan frown. "What are you screaming about?!"
Why was this woman so loud?
"Baby...!" Sophia gasped, covering her mouth in shock. "Lily’s pregnant?! How did I not know she was pregnant? Is that Lily’s baby?!"
That photo...
"What did you say?!" Ethan’s eyes widened in disbelief as he suddenly realized what the picture was... Was she pregnant?!
Damn it.
Why hadn’t she told him? He had let her stay out there alone for a whole week!
Why had she run away with his child? Was she crazy?!
"Where is she?!" Ethan demanded, his voice sharp.
Sophia was still in shock. Was Lily pregnant? And she had left everything on her own? How would she take care of herself?
"Where is she?!" Ethan’s voice grew louder and more urgent as Sophia stood there in a daze.
"I-I don’t know..." Sophia stammered. "All I know is that she said she was leaving. She told me her heart had grown cold."
Her heart had grown cold?
Toward him? She hadn’t even loved him for that long, and now she was already saying her heart had grown cold?! He had thought she was just throwing a spoiled tantrum.
He wouldn’t let her lose heart, and he definitely wouldn’t let her leave...
And the baby.
She had his baby. That was the important thing she had tried to tell him that day. No wonder she had been hinting at him to be better toward children...
Ethan rushed back to his car, his long fingers trembling as he tried to start the engine. He sat there for a long time, unable to move...
"Damn it!"
Ethan slammed his fist against the steering wheel, panic flashing in his eyes.
Lily Anderson, if you dare leave, just try it.
What kind of stubbornness was this that she thought it was necessary to leave? What did she want? How could she let her heart grow cold when there was no end to their relationship? There could never be an end.
She couldn’t leave.
She absolutely couldn’t leave... his side, his sight...
He was confident that he could hunt her down no matter where she went. But her heart... He had worked so hard to win her over. What would he do if she gave up on him?
Bang—
Ethan slammed his fist into the steering wheel again. She had clearly been saying goodbye to him at Central Park, but he had thought she was waiting for him to beg...
He had always thought he was ruthless, but Lily... She was always one step ahead.
He loved her far more than she loved him. She could easily let her heart grow cold, say she was leaving, and just walk away...
But what about him? He couldn’t lose her.
Calming his frantic heartbeat, it took Ethan a long time to finally start the car. In Sophia’s stunned silence, he sped off.
The airport was bustling with people. Flight announcements echoed through the spacious terminal, and the roar of planes taking off could be heard from outside...
Lily dragged her heavy suitcase into the airport and checked it in.
After passing through security, she sat in the waiting area, waiting to board.
The airport was full of people rushing about—some anxious, some relaxed, some embracing tearful farewells.
"Little one, when we get to London, Daddy will buy you fish and chips, okay?"
"Yay! I’m so excited to see Mommy in London!"
A young father passed by, holding his daughter’s hand as they walked past Lily.
As she watched them, Lily’s mind drifted. She remembered how, when she was young, her parents would each hold one of her hands, taking her out to play. They’d ask her if she was having fun if there was anything she wanted to eat...
She had been pleased back then.
But behind that happiness had been her mother’s infidelity...
"I’m warning you, stop following me, or I’ll call the police and report you for harassment!"
"When I really harassed you, you said it wasn’t enough! Stop acting out and come home. She’s just my sister."
"I’m not going back! You and your ’sister’ can both get out of my life! I hope you’re miserable forever, you jerk!"
"Ah—"
A young couple stood nearby, arguing. The boy tried holding the girl, but she swung her bag at his head.
He cried out in pain, clutching his head and crouching down, but the girl stormed off, leaving him behind.
After a long pause, the boy got to his feet, blood trickling down his forehead, his face already streaked with tears. Ignoring his injury, he ran after the girl.
The boy begged desperately as the girl walked through the boarding gate.
Lily watched in silence as the bloodied boy was escorted away by staff. He looked like a madman, clutching the staff’s hands and pleading, "I love her so much! I can’t live without her! Please bring her back! Please, or at least let me go to her. I’m begging you."
Airports were always full of dramatic goodbyes—some joyful, some heartbreaking.
Lily watched quietly.
Love often worked that way. You could pour your heart into someone, but the other might never feel it.
Between her and Ethan, there was no trust, no compromise... It was destined to end in nothing.
Suddenly, an announcement came over the speaker, calling passengers to board. Lily stood up, holding her boarding pass, and joined the passengers waiting to board.
From this moment on, she would no longer think about her past, about this city, or about Ethan.
She wouldn’t think about anything anymore. She would move forward, living a new life.
The line moved slowly forward, but suddenly, the boarding process stopped.
A voice came over the speaker, "Ladies and gentlemen, we regret to inform you that your flight cannot depart on time due to the delayed arrival of the incoming flight. The new departure time is yet to be determined. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. Please remain in the waiting area and await further announcements. Thank you..."
The passengers in line immediately began to grumble.
"Are you kidding me? I have an important meeting to get to! How can the flight be delayed now?"
"Exactly, they already called us to board, and now they’re saying the plane is late? What kind of nonsense is that?"
"Unbelievable..."
Frustrated, the passengers turned back and began heading toward the service desk to complain.
Lily was just as surprised. How could the flight be delayed after they had already been called to board?
She had a bad feeling. As she looked around the terminal, she suddenly noticed a group of men in black suits entering the waiting area. Leading them was Cipher Stone, Ethan’s trusted man who always wore sunglasses.
Ethan had found her.
Lily’s heart skipped a beat and instinctively hid behind a nearby pillar.
If Ethan had found her, she wouldn’t be able to leave. She didn’t want to be taken back and imprisoned again...
How on earth had he figured out she was leaving? And how had he tracked her flight so quickly? How had this happened?
From behind the pillar, Lily saw Cipher scanning the crowds, then gesturing to the bodyguards behind him. "Search everywhere. Don’t leave a single spot unchecked!"
"Yes, sir."
The bodyguards immediately dispersed, searching the area.
Lily took a deep breath and slipped around the pillar, taking advantage of their distraction to quietly follow a group of angry passengers heading toward the airline counter. She quickly ducked into the women’s restroom.
Inside the restroom, a few female passengers from her flight stood around, angrily discussing the delay.
"This is the stupidest reason for a flight delay I’ve ever heard. They already called us to board, and now they’re saying the plane is late? What kind of garbage excuse is that?" 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝓮𝒘𝙚𝙗𝒏𝙤𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝒐𝙢
"Yeah, maybe the pilot got drunk. I’m going to file a complaint at the service desk!"
"No, I heard they’re chasing down a criminal."
"A criminal?!"
"Yeah, didn’t you see those men in black? They’re probably undercover cops chasing a fugitive!"
"Oh my god, are we in danger?"
Lily quietly washed her hands, listening to their conversation, her headache worsening.
She had thought Ethan didn’t care anymore—he hadn’t looked for her in a week.
But now, here he was, coming after her with such force.
Her sudden departure must have enraged Ethan. If he caught her, there would be no mercy.
She was terrified... terrified of being taken back and imprisoned again. She couldn’t live chained up, stripped of her dignity.
She had to escape.
As she prepared to leave the restroom, she peeked out the door and saw a line of bodyguards standing outside.
Lily quickly pulled back, her face paling with fear.
How had they found her so fast? How had they already reached the restroom?
