Chapter 208: A Moment of Intimacy

"Sorry, I guess I’ve been a bit tired from working on set these past few days," Lily apologized.

Fortunately, the <Kill> production was being filmed in the city, and for the baby’s sake, she only worked during the day. If filming had been elsewhere, she wouldn’t be able to enjoy Nanny’s nourishing soups, which would have made things even harder and more exhausting.

As Lily crouched down to pick up the broken pieces of the bowl, her finger was accidentally cut by one of the shards. Blood immediately began to flow, dripping onto the floor.

"Oh no, Miss Anderson, stop! Let me do it!" Nanny rushed over and grabbed her hand.

"Don’t touch her!"

A cold, commanding voice suddenly rang out.

Startled, Nanny quickly let go of Lily’s hand.

Lily looked up in surprise to see Ethan Blackwood storming into the dining room. He grabbed her wrist and lifted her hand, pressing his warm palm against it.

"Come with me."

Ethan pulled her out of the dining room and into a bedroom’s bathroom. Turning on the faucet, he placed her hand under the running water, rinsing away the blood.

"There’s a sink in the kitchen," Lily said in confusion. "Why go all the way to the bathroom to wash it? Isn’t that unnecessary?"

Ethan stood beside her, his gaze fixed on the blood being washed away by the water. His expression was dark and brooding, and Lily couldn’t help but look at him curiously.

"Because I want to," Ethan said coldly after a long pause. His tone carried a faint chill, and while he didn’t scold her, it was clear he wasn’t in a good mood.

A heavy aura of gloom surrounded him.

"Did something happen?" Lily asked, worried as she looked at him. "Is it work-related?"

"No," Ethan denied curtly.

"Then why are you acting so strange?"

"How am I acting strange?" Ethan turned to look at her, his deep gaze fixed on her face.

Her complexion looked healthy—better than usual, likely due to all the supplements she had been drinking recently. Her face was even rosier now.

She didn’t look like someone who was ill at all.

"This..." Lily wiggled her injured finger and looked at him with bright eyes. "Didn’t you used to handle things the ’beast’ way?"

He used to put her injured finger in his mouth, licking it until no blood seeped out.

A unique, beast-like way of treating wounds.

Wasn’t this his usual method?

Ethan’s gaze darkened as he stared at her face. It was as if he had made up his mind about something. His voice, low and hoarse, carried a trace of determination. "Fine."

He lifted her hand and slowly lowered his head, parting his lips slightly to take her finger into his mouth.

Lily quickly pulled her hand back.

Ethan’s gaze shot up, locking onto hers with a flicker of surprise in his eyes. His handsome face tightened with restraint.

"I never said I liked that beast-like method," Lily said with a laugh before turning to rinse her wound under the faucet. Besides, he had once treated Aiko Nakamura’s wound the same way. She didn’t want to associate her mind with that image forever.

"Miss Anderson here’s a band-aid," Nanny said as she approached, handing the band-aid to Lily.

"Thank you, Nanny."

Lily smiled gratefully, drying her finger with a tissue and carefully applying the band-aid.

She remained blissfully unaware of the storm raging inside Ethan.

From behind, Ethan wrapped his arms around her, holding her tightly. His hands circled her shoulders as he rested his chin on her shoulder. His voice was low and unwavering.

"I love you."

No matter what, he wouldn’t let anything happen to her.

He would never let her endure any more pain. He would find the antidote—he had to.

Lily smiled softly, turning her face slightly to brush against his. Her breath was warm as it skimmed his skin. "I love you too."

Ethan tightened his hold on her and leaned down to capture her lips.

It was as if he were kissing her for the first time. His lips pressed against hers urgently, moving without rhythm or finesse, unlike his usual skillful approach.

His teeth accidentally grazed her lips, making her wince in pain.

What was wrong with him? First, he was sentimental, and now he kissed her so clumsily...

After a long moment, Ethan finally let go of her lips, but his hands remained locked around her, refusing to let go. He continued to hold her tightly.

"I bought you two outfits. Come take a look," Lily said as she patted his arm, signaling him to release her.

But Ethan didn’t budge. He held her like he hadn’t embraced anyone in centuries, prompting Lily to laugh. "What’s wrong with you? Acting like it’s been hundreds of years since you’ve hugged someone."

Why insist on hugging her in the bathroom?

"Mm, it’s been hundreds of years since I’ve hugged you," Ethan murmured, his voice low and muffled, like a child’s.

"I’m not some ancient spirit that’s been alive for hundreds of years," Lily teased, placing her hand on his arm. "Come on, let’s see the clothes I bought for you."

Only then did Ethan let her go, allowing her to lead him out of the bathroom. His gaze fell on the band-aid on her hand, and his expression grew darker.

"How did you get hurt?" he asked, his voice heavy.

"I dropped a bowl," Lily said, holding his hand with one of hers while rubbing her neck with the other. "I don’t know if it’s because working on set is tiring, but I always feel weak when I get home."

"Then stop working," Ethan said immediately.

Weakness...

She was already showing symptoms of fatigue?!

"It’s not that bad. It’s a rare opportunity to learn from a top director, and the filming will wrap up in two months," Lily said quickly, her voice still tinged with excitement. "Once it’s done, I’ll take a break and only attend the occasional class."

She wasn’t planning to work throughout her pregnancy.

No matter what, she would prioritize the baby. But for now, she was still feeling fine. Her belly hadn’t even started to show, so she could still manage to work.

"You’re so tired you can’t even hold onto a bowl, and you still insist on going to the set?!" Ethan’s voice turned sharp as he glared at her.

Did she really want to keep working?

Did she not realize she was nearing the point where everyday life would become impossible?

"It’s just occasional fatigue," Lily said, touching his shoulders and softening her tone to coax him. "I promise I’ll rest properly after the movie wraps. Okay?"

She knew he was worried about her health.

"Lily!" Ethan growled through clenched teeth.

"Come on, look at the clothes I bought," Lily said quickly, dragging him to the sofa and pulling out two clothing bags. "I picked these based on your taste—branded clothes! Very expensive!"

Ethan picked up the bags, giving them a cold glance before frowning. "I’ve never heard of this brand."

What kind of lousy brand was this?!

"They’re real branded clothes!" Lily insisted, silently adding, " Even if they’re only $300, they’re still a brand.

Ethan gave her a skeptical look before pulling out the clothes. They were two tracksuits—one grey and one black—and their quality couldn’t compare to the premium brands under B.E.

She knew he hated cheap clothing, yet she still tried to "correct" his values.

Didn’t she realize who had shaped his current values in the first place?

"Why did you buy me tracksuits?" Ethan asked, holding up the clothes. Besides wearing sportswear to accompany her to the amusement park, he never touched such garments.

She knew he didn’t like wearing tracksuits.

"I’ve arranged for you to see a rehabilitation doctor. It won’t take much time—just two sessions a week, two hours each. I’ll go with you," Lily finally revealed her true intentions.

Buying the tracksuits was just a prelude... She wanted his arm to fully recover.

"I told you, I’m not doing rehab," Ethan said, clearly resistant to the idea.

Where would he find the time for that?

"Your left hand still struggles to lift heavy things. Last time you carried me, I could feel your left arm straining to support my weight," Lily said seriously. Then, leaning into his chest, she softened her tone. "I’ve already contacted the doctor. Please go, okay?"

Ethan froze for a moment as if someone had struck his chest.

She could even tell that he was struggling when he carried her?

He thought she had been so focused on her dream of becoming a director that she had forgotten all about him.

For her to notice this and even use such a tone to persuade him... The old Lily would never have done this.

Ethan stared intensely at her. Thinking he might still refuse, Lily sat up from his lap and cupped his face with her soft hands. "Please? Only kids don’t like going to the doctor."

Ethan pressed his lips together, watching her pull out all the stops to convince him.

She was more worried about his arm than anyone else.

"Take a bath with me," Ethan suddenly demanded.

"..." Lily froze, her face filling with indignation. "Ethan Blackwood, you’re taking advantage of me!"

His arm needed rehab—why was she the one paying the price?!

"You don’t have to agree," Ethan said flatly.

Which meant he wouldn’t agree to rehab either.

Lily frowned, her expression resembling someone going to their doom. "Fine! Just this once tonight!"

"Deal."

The moment they entered the bathroom, Ethan stripped her entirely and gently placed her in the bathtub while he remained dressed, crouching by the tub.

The air was warm and steamy, filled with a faint mist.

The bathtub was custom-made and especially large. Lily sat on the tub’s edge, the warm water nearly reaching her shoulders.

Ethan crouched beside her, pouring body wash into his hands and rubbing it over her bare back. His warm and firm fingers glided over her skin, spreading the soap.

What was supposed to be just applying body wash was laced with teasing touches, making Lily feel like she was already being seduced by him.

Wasn’t this supposed to be a shared bath?

Yet here he was, giving her a bath instead...

As Ethan’s hands worked over her back, they slowly slid to her front, his fingers slipping underwater to cup the fullness of her chest.

Lily’s body trembled at his touch. Heat coursed through her, making her feel increasingly out of control. Her gaze grew hazy.

Just from his teasing and caresses, she felt like she was melting, barely able to suppress her moans.

On the other hand, Ethan remained fully clothed, crouched by the tub. His dark eyes were locked on her, sharp and intense, his thin lips sensual and enticing.

Damn it.

Lily decided to play with fire. If things had already come to this point...

She reached out and began unbuttoning his shirt. Ethan paused momentarily, his piercing eyes fixed on her as if he were ready to devour her.

As the buttons came undone, revealing his toned chest, Lily bit her lip, gathering the courage to slide her hand inside. Mimicking his earlier actions, she traced her fingers over his chest with playful intent.

"Lily, if you stop now, it’s still not too late," Ethan said, his voice hoarse. His Adam’s apple bobbed as he swallowed, his body visibly tense.

Hearing this, Lily hesitated and withdrew her hand.

Ethan’s eyes were already filled with desire. He climbed into the tub, the warm water instantly soaking his shirt and pants.

"Sit on my lap," he commanded, pulling her onto him.

Lily bit her lip, her face tinged with nervousness as she touched his chest. The bubbles shifted, and the water rippled over his chest, making him look sensual and alluring.
