Chapter 207: Rabbit Raising Enterprise

With the little bunnies, the group of kids lost interest in heading further into the mountain and just wanted to quickly make a nest for the bunnies.

Xu Mumu didn’t want to dampen the kids’ enthusiasm. After all, they had caught a big rabbit, and these three little bunnies were probably the offspring of the one she had killed.

When they got back home, it was still quite early. The kids surrounded the three little bunnies, feeding them lots of wild vegetables. Since people can eat these wild vegetables, the little bunnies surely could too.

"Sister, where are we going to keep these rabbits?" Xu Minglei asked Xu Mumu. If he knew how to weave a cage, he’d have already made one for the rabbits.

"Didn’t our house have two new rooms built? We’ll keep them in the storeroom." Xu Mumu thought for a moment and said.

"Big Sis, when they grow, can we sell them?" Xu Jiaojiao looked at her big sister eagerly, immediately thinking about making money.

"Rabbits breed quickly. You can absolutely sell them when they grow. As long as you guys raise them well, I’ll help you sell them." Xu Mumu said with a smile. As long as they could raise the little bunnies, she wouldn’t mind going to Qi Feng’s place a couple of times.

"Will we have lots and lots of little bunnies in the future?" Xu Jiaojiao’s eyes sparkled.

"But we need to have male and female rabbits in the nest for that to happen." Xu Mumu said with a smile. "And you guys need to raise them to be big."

"We definitely can do it," the kids said determinedly, looking at the three little bunnies as if they saw countless little bunnies and lots and lots of money waving at them.

"Alright, just don’t let them die. Grandma should know how to care for them, you can ask her when the time comes," Xu Mumu said calmly. She didn’t plan to interfere and was happy to let the little ones figure it out themselves.

When Madam Chen and the others returned, they learned about the kids wanting to raise rabbits.

"You guys? You can’t even take care of yourselves, and you want to raise rabbits?" Madam Chen rolled her eyes exasperatedly.

"Grandma, don’t underestimate us, we absolutely can do it," Xu Minglei said, dissatisfied.

"Yeah, yeah, we can definitely raise them well," Xu Tao chimed in immediately.

"Dad, can you make a cage for our little bunnies, please?" Xu Jiaojiao held her dad’s hand and pleaded.

"Alright, alright, I’ll make one in the afternoon. Get aside, I’m exhausted. You don’t even care about me and still ask your dad to work. You little ungrateful child," Xu Po poked his daughter’s forehead. What could he do? Of course, he’d spoil his kids.

"Dad, is it really okay for our family to raise rabbits? What if others in the team find out?" Xu Hai asked, feeling a bit unsure.

"Why worry so much? They are just a few little ones; who knows if they can even raise the rabbits to grow?" Old Xu said calmly. If it were that easy, the whole brigade would be filled with rabbits.

"Well, that’s true. Those little brats don’t really have such skills," Xu Hai smiled broadly, no longer worried. Besides, rabbits don’t make noise, and the storeroom is at the back. Even if people visit, they won’t notice anything.

By evening, Xu Po had cut two bamboo rods and made a crude cage in about half an hour. Finally, the little bunnies had a new home.

Xu Mumu saw the persistence of the kids. Even though Madam Chen was impatient, the kids still remembered all the important details about raising rabbits. They noted down what grass to feed them and how to feed them.

After they’ve clarified everything, the kids stopped bothering Madam Chen. Madam Chen also breathed a sigh of relief, never knowing her grandkids could be so persistent—it was really annoying.

With the little bunnies, the kids suddenly had something to do. They kept the rabbit cage clean, even cleaner than their own rooms, and they went out every day to find grass for the bunnies to eat.

When Xu Minghui came home, he saw his younger siblings raising rabbits, and they seemed quite good at it.

"Look at your brother, he takes care of the rabbits more carefully than he would his own father," Xu Hai gestured towards his son, feeling somewhat envious.

"These rabbits are well taken care of," Xu Minghui said with a smile. The brigade hadn’t mentioned rules about raising other livestock, so they could only raise these stealthily.

"Dad, once I raise the rabbits big, I’ll let you eat the meat," Xu Minglei glanced at his dad, not understanding why he was envious. He had said he’d give him the meat; wasn’t that filial enough?

"Weren’t you going to sell them after raising them?" Xu Hai looked at his son speechlessly, feeling he was making empty promises.

"You can wait for the second batch," Xu Minglei replied naturally. The kids had already planned the second and third batches properly.

These were all the kids’ work; Xu Mumu hadn’t managed it at all.

Raising the rabbits successfully meant profit, and if they failed, the losses were minor since the kids did it all by themselves.

Xu Hai’s mouth twitched. The first batch was still small; he’d have to wait until the second batch to eat.

Forget it, there’s no point in arguing with this brat.

In the evening, Huo Qingze delivered Xu Mumu’s documents back to her. He had already made a copy of them.

"Thank you." Huo Qingze looked at Xu Mumu, and it was the first time he had appeared before her face-to-face. The girl before him was beautiful with a graceful demeanor. The phrase "a bookish charm" seemed to describe her. No wonder Yin Yang always had her on his mind.

"You’re welcome." Xu Mumu smiled lightly, gathering her organized documents without any damage, feeling satisfied.

"Brother Huo, why are you here?" Xu Xue walked in from outside and was pleasantly surprised to see Huo Qingze at their home.

"I came to return Xu Mumu’s documents. She lent them to me earlier." Huo Qingze said blandly.

"You two chat, I’ll take these back to my room," Xu Mumu said, glancing at the two before carrying her documents back to her room, avoiding any misunderstandings Xu Xue might have, even though there wasn’t much between Xu Xue and Huo Qingze at this point.

Huo Qingze’s cool nature wasn’t really her type, though he was good-looking. Yin Yang’s appearance was more to her liking.

Back in her room, Xu Mumu carefully stored away the documents. In a few months, she’d make a big profit with them.

Outside, Xu Xue continued talking to Huo Qingze, looking genuinely happy, while Huo Qingze maintained his somewhat expressionless face.

Honestly, continually seeing Huo Qingze’s deadpan face wasn’t really attractive after a while. Why did so many girls like him?

If she had to look at such an expressionless face all her life, Xu Mumu thought she’d go crazy.
