Chapter 219: Feeding

Yin Yang lowered his head and ate the fish straight from Xu Mumu’s hand.

Xu Mumu was a bit dumbfounded; this guy was being too much.

Seeing Xu Mumu’s slightly flushed face, Yin Yang blushed a little too. He didn’t know why; his head just heated up, and he ate like that.

"Mm, it’s delicious." Xu Mumu’s blushing face was really beautiful. Yin Yang didn’t even taste the fish, just swallowed it, focusing only on Xu Mumu.

"Hmph, hurry up and grill the fish, the side you’re grilling is about to burn." Xu Mumu glared at Yin Yang. This guy was really bold. If it weren’t for the kids being too busy eating grilled fish, she wouldn’t know how to handle such an awkward situation.

"Got it." Yin Yang, in a great mood, started seriously turning the grilled fish. This White Carp was quite large and needed more time to be fully cooked.

Seeing Yin Yang grilling the fish, Xu Mumu breathed a sigh of relief. It was the first time in two lifetimes that a man had been this close to her and done something so intimate; her heart was about to leap out.

Seeing Yin Yang’s reddened ears, this guy isn’t as calm as he pretends to be, Xu Mumu felt balanced inside.

Who knows where this kid learned from; he’s gone bad.

After a while, the largest fish was also done grilling, placed on a taro leaf. Yin Yang used a small knife to cut off the most tender piece.

"Here, eat this; it’s not burnt." Yin Yang said a bit shyly, offering the grilled fish to Xu Mumu, reciprocating the earlier gesture.

"Mm, you eat too." Xu Mumu quietly turned her face slightly away, feeling that this guy was getting more and more thick-skinned.

A whole fish was soon mostly gone, and Xu Mumu was fed quite a bit by Yin Yang. This guy was simply addicted to feeding her. Just as she finished, he cut another small piece to offer her.

"Mumu, want to go up the mountain tomorrow to collect mushrooms?" As they were leaving, Yin Yang looked at Xu Mumu and asked. Xu Mumu was finally done with school for a while and wouldn’t be going to Du Yu’s place, so he had to seize the opportunity.

"Sure." Xu Mumu nodded with a smile.

Carrying her little brother home, the little guy got a bit dirty, and Xu Mumu changed him into clean clothes.

Madam Chen was currently feeding the chickens in the yard. The half-grown hens they had bought earlier had begun to lay eggs. The family was doing well, so they weren’t selling the eggs anymore.

"Mumu, how do you guys want to eat the fish tonight?" Madam Chen asked while mixing rice bran and placing it before the two hens, asking Xu Mumu directly; she didn’t ask the rest of the family since they just ate whatever.

"I want fish soup." Xu Mumu replied with a smile.

"Alright, I’ll clean the fish later. By the way, where’s your mom? She’s been out for a long time and hasn’t been seen." Madam Chen inquired.

"She went to my grandpa’s house. She should be back soon." Xu Mumu said helplessly.

"I’ll settle accounts with her when she comes back." Madam Chen frowned. Despite having warned the family not to speak about discovering a landlord’s treasure, she was uneasy about Li Caixia’s nature.

Xu Mumu shrugged, holding her little brother, and went into the field to pick a small basket of green beans to stir-fry for dinner.

Not long after, Li Caixia returned, holding some egg cakes.

"Mumu, Minglei, come eat. Your uncle gave us egg cakes." Li Caixia was in a great mood.

"Caixia, come over here so I can talk to you." Madam Chen glanced at Li Caixia and said calmly.

"Mumu, share this with Minglei. I’m going to see your grandma." Li Caixia pinched her youngest son’s cheek. The little guy was drinking milk from a bottle, his eyes getting sleepy.

Madam Chen took Li Caixia into the house to question her carefully, while Xu Mumu, not hungry, gave the egg cake to Xu Minglei to share it with Jiaojiao and the others.

Madam Chen meticulously confirmed that Li Caixia hadn’t talked about the treasure before feeling reassured.

The fish soup that night was extremely delicious. Even though Xu Mumu wasn’t hungry, she ate a big bowl of it. The fish soup mixed with wild veggie cakes tasted good too.

After dinner and a bath, Xu Mumu went back to her room, reorganized her books; many of them were outdated. But these were proof of her learning, something she’d keep for the kids in the future since the knowledge wouldn’t become outdated.

The room now had an extra bookshelf. Xu Mumu thought that once she had money to buy a house, she must get herself a bookshelf.

On the other side, Yin Yang was having trouble falling asleep too. After returning from his grandpa’s house, he kept thinking about Xu Mumu, wondering how to express his feelings.

Spending almost a whole day with Xu Mumu, he was more certain that she had a bit of interest in him. Otherwise, she wouldn’t give him chances to show his affection, would she?

Raising his hand, he looked at it. Today, his finger touched Xu Mumu’s lips; they were very soft.

He should also tell his grandpa; his grandpa would probably like her.

The next morning, the kids woke up early; they didn’t need Xu Mumu to tell them. They took their language recorders and started studying English and French. Even during vacation, they hadn’t neglected these language courses.

For breakfast, Madam Chen made a pot of cakes. Although they were coarse grain cakes, there was some leftover fish soup from last night. Each person got a small bowl of it, and mixed with the fish soup, even the coarse cakes tasted delicious.

"Big sis, I want to start learning middle school knowledge." Xu Jiaojiao ran over excitedly after breakfast, looking expectantly at Xu Mumu.

"I have middle school books here. You can take them and self-study first. Come ask me if there’s anything you don’t understand." Xu Mumu said with a gentle smile, then she went to her room to find the middle school textbooks. The previous Xu Mumu wasn’t keen on studying, so the textbooks were still pretty new, with few notes. There were enough for the kids.

"Thank you, big sis." Xu Jiaojiao was extremely happy.

"I’m going to gather mushrooms later; do you want to come?" Xu Mumu asked Xu Jiaojiao.

"I’ll pass. I want to read. My brother and the others are going to look for chicken mushrooms." Xu Jiaojiao shook her head.

"Alright, I’ll go alone and bring back some wild veggies." Xu Mumu didn’t mind; the kids had already gone out.

Xu Jiaojiao hugged her book and started flipping through it at the table in the main room.

Xu Mumu went to the kitchen for a basket and a sickle before heading out.

Just as she stepped out, she bumped into Yin Yang, who had come to see her. Yin Yang was carrying a small backpack with a sickle inside; he looked like a celestial being descending to the mortal world.

"Mumu, I feel like I’m late." Yin Yang said sheepishly.

"No problem, let’s go." Xu Mumu replied with a lighthearted smile.

"Where are your younger siblings? Why aren’t they coming along?" Yin Yang asked, puzzled.
