Chapter 264: Starting the Family Business

"The day after tomorrow, what’s up, aren’t you going out with Xu Mumu? Why are you suddenly interested in me?" Huo Qingze glanced at Yin Yang, who surprisingly seemed to be concerned about him. The sun must be rising in the west; could this guy have his eyes on him?

This guy has too many tricks up his sleeve; he’s definitely asking for help with something again!!

"Mumu asked me to tell you a secret, a secret that would be very useful to you. Is Young Master Huo interested?" Yin Yang said with a sly smile, looking at Huo Qingze with a hint of schadenfreude. Of course, he trusted Xu Mumu’s words.

"What secret?" Huo Qingze paused his packing to look at Yin Yang. In the entire village, besides Xu Xue, he was most intrigued by Xu Mumu. There was something off about these sisters.

"I heard your stepmother gave you a brother?" Yin Yang asked, intrigued, looking at Huo Qingze.

"Are you here to watch the drama?" Huo Qingze raised an eyebrow.

"Of course, Mumu asked me to tell you that your brother isn’t your dad’s child. You might want to check into a certain Yan that your stepmother is close to; you might be in for a surprise." Yin Yang laughed, showing no attempt to hide his intent to watch the chaos unfold for Huo Qingze.

Huo Qingze’s gaze turned cold. "How does Xu Mumu know so much? How does she know?"

The revelation shook Huo Qingze internally. If it’s true that his brother isn’t his dad’s child, this could be leveraged to not only take his dad down but also send his stepmother to jail. Even if he couldn’t completely wipe out his stepmother’s family, it would at least severely damage them.

"That’s not your concern," Yin Yang calmly replied. To be honest, he was curious too, but unfortunately, Xu Mumu wouldn’t tell him.

"Haha, you’re quite open-minded, aren’t you? Aren’t you worried that your girlfriend knows so much about another man’s family affairs?" Huo Qingze sneered. The information Xu Mumu shared was so secretive that none of the Huo Family noticed anything over the last decade. How did Xu Mumu find out?

"Why wouldn’t I be? Mumu said she’d tell me the reason later. I’m not anxious. After all, she likes me, not you." Yin Yang nonchalantly glanced at Huo Qingze. It’s obvious Mumu likes him because he is better-looking and more reliable than Huo Qingze.

"Haha, is her information reliable?" Huo Qingze calmed down. The point now wasn’t to think about her anomaly but how to use this information to the fullest.

"Hmm, believe it or not. Don’t you have your own people? Check it out yourself. As far as I know, your family’s connections are quite good. Just let them investigate." Yin Yang shrugged. If Huo Qingze believed the news instantly, it wouldn’t seem real to him. Verification was necessary.

"Got it. If it’s true, tell Xu Mumu that I owe her a huge favor." After a few moments of silence, Huo Qingze said seriously. So far, Xu Mumu hasn’t been particularly warm to him or shown any harm towards him.

"Hmm." Yin Yang nodded.

After learning about this, Huo Qingze packed his things much faster. If the train tickets weren’t for the day after tomorrow, he would have taken the train back to Imperial City immediately.

Xu Mumu guessed there wouldn’t be peace on Huo Qingze’s end, but she didn’t mind. Knowing a bit about Huo Qingze, she had her reasons for telling him. Building a good relationship with a future tycoon, while he owes her a big favor, who’s to say she won’t need help someday? A favor from Huo Qingze is invaluable.

After barely two days at home, Xu Mumu took her dad to the provincial city to set up a business, leaving her mother to watch the father and daughter duo leave with resentment.

With Xu Hai gone, Xu Minghui was left to focus solely on her. Studying was already hard enough with Xu Hai for support, and now he got to go to the provincial city, leaving Li Caixia extremely envious.

However, there was still a little son needing care at home, with the grandparents being quite old, and the young one being a handful. The old couple couldn’t manage, so she had to take care of the child herself.

"Mom, stop staring. They’re already gone. It’s time for you to study." Xu Minghui said with a mischievous smile.

"Don’t smile at me." Li Caixia gave her son a disdainful look, never realizing he had so many tricks just to get both parents to study. Now seeing Xu Minghui smile, it’s like the devil smiling at her.

"Mom, on a serious note, you need to learn as much as you can these days so that when dad comes back, you can teach him. Don’t you want to teach dad to read?" Xu Minghui’s voice was full of temptation.

Li Caixia’s eyes gleamed with interest. If she learned a bit more than Xu Hai, would she be able to teach him? She wanted to experience the joy her son had when teaching them.

Xu Minghui opened the book, unaware of the massive impact his words had on his mother, practically opening up a new world for her. From then on, his dad lived in torment under her teaching.

Meanwhile, Xu Mumu and Xu Hai, swaying along in the car, arrived in the provincial city. Xu Mumu looked a bit off. Though she’s not prone to carsickness, the atmosphere in the vehicle still troubled her.

Xu Hai, in contrast, was full of energy, looking around eagerly as soon as they got off the vehicle.

"Daughter, where’s our house? How much longer do we have to walk?" Xu Hai asked curiously, following Xu Mumu closely.

"Dad, it’s still a good half-hour walk. It’s quite far. Are you hungry? Shall we eat at the state-run restaurant first?" Xu Mumu said helplessly.

"Sure! It’s my first time eating at a provincial city state-run restaurant. I wonder if it’s better than the one in the county." Xu Hai’s eyes lit up immediately; he was always into trying new foods.

"It’s not bad, although not as good as Master Yang’s cooking. But there are more dishes here, and we can try something we haven’t had before." Xu Mumu said with a smile.

"I’ll listen to you." Xu Hai was even more eager.

When the two arrived at the state-run restaurant early, there weren’t many people. Xu Mumu ordered two dishes Xu Hai hadn’t tried before.

The food was served quickly, ready within about ten minutes.

"Daughter, these braised ribs are really delicious. You should eat some too." Xu Hai said while quickly eating and even shoved some into Xu Mumu’s bowl.

"I got it, I got it. You eat yours, and enjoy." Xu Hai placed his chopsticks back in his own bowl after a glance from his daughter; she didn’t like people serving her food.

Xu Mumu smiled without saying much, continuing with her meal. Although cooking wasn’t her favorite, she loved to eat, and the braised ribs with potatoes here were indeed delicious.
