70s Delicate Girl: A Guide to Being a Rich Woman-Chapter 265: Looking at Furniture
After the two finished eating, Xu Mumu took Xu Hai towards the house they bought, while Yin Yang had to go to Hai City for a trip and said he would be back soon.
The furniture and decorations in the house, he also entrusted them to Xu Mumu.
Holding Yin Yang’s money, Xu Mumu had no intention to be polite with him. Since he planned to use the house as their future marital home, they would be making it comfortable according to their own preferences.
"Daughter, is this really our house? It’s an apartment building, and it must have been newly built, it’s so new." Xu Hai carefully touched the wall, noticing how the white putty contrasted sharply with the dusty yellow mud walls in the countryside.
"Yes, this side is ours, and this side is Yin Yang’s. Even when I’m married, it will feel like I’m still living with you all." Xu Mumu said with a smile, implying that her parents wouldn’t get rid of her in this lifetime.
"That’s great, this way, Yin Yang wouldn’t dare to bully you." Xu Hai’s eyes lit up, as he couldn’t bear the thought of his beloved daughter marrying far away.
Previously, they thought that houses in the provincial city were hard to sell, and at most, they would be close by. They didn’t expect it could be this close, just a turn out the door, and they would arrive at their daughter’s place.
Because of this house, Yin Yang’s impression in Xu Hai’s mind improved another notch.
Xu Mumu opened the door to the house with the key and showed Xu Hai around the layout.
"It’s indeed spacious. I thought city apartments were just like where your third uncle lives." Xu Hai was excited to see such a spacious apartment.
Whereas the house allocated to Xu Laosan’s in-law side was just two rooms, using coal stoves on the balcony, toilets were a shared affair, making it highly inconvenient.
Seeing their own place, Xu Hai felt his pride soar. This was a big house—one he couldn’t afford even over a lifetime, yet he was now able to live there, although nearly all their money was spent.
"How could that be? The difference between receiving and buying a house is vast. There are plenty like your third uncle’s in the provincial city which aren’t that expensive, but our family is so large; squeezing together won’t work. It’s better to buy a big place now since we’d have to upgrade eventually." Xu Mumu said, smiling, as money wasn’t currently an issue. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝓮𝒘𝙚𝙗𝒏𝙤𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝒐𝙢
"Indeed, yes, your third uncle’s entire family isn’t as accomplished as you alone." Xu Hai boasted pridefully, that’s his daughter, and he could brag for half a day about her achievements. Who else had a daughter as capable as his?
After looking through both houses with Xu Hai, Xu Mumu asked, "So how was it? Shall we go look for furniture now?"
"Let’s go, you might end up getting cheated by going alone, using subpar wood." Xu Hai was filled with energy, eager to bring back the furniture and fill their house right away.
Watching her father’s enthusiasm, Xu Mumu smiled. Yin Yang had previously taken her on a tour around the area, so she already remembered where the key places were, particularly the department store’s location.
"Wow, this place is huge, with so much on sale." Xu Hai exclaimed in a low voice, filled with excitement. Was this the provincial city? It was ridiculously prosperous, with so many things inside, some even cheaper than in the county.
"Yes, dad, you have money in your pocket, buy what you like. Our home is nearby and spacious enough." Xu Mumu encouraged her father to spend, believing the couple shouldn’t hold onto money too long.
"Many things require industrial coupons." Xu Hai swallowed his words, his heart moved by the items, but the pricing deterred him—there weren’t enough coupons at home.
"No worries, I brought some, even had Yin Yang exchange a lot for us. Feel free to buy whatever you want." Xu Mumu said, smiling, thinking how Yin Yang was like a treasure trove who seemed able to acquire anything.
She admired immensely; connections indeed worked wonders.
Now she was quite curious about what businesses Yin Yang’s family was involved in, to be so well-off.
All Xu Mumu currently knew was that the business spanned wide; the specifics were something Yin Yang hadn’t explained.
"Daughter, our family doesn’t have much money, what if moving leaves us with nothing to eat?" Knowing her daughter’s nature, Xu Hai wore a pained expression, worried over his daughter’s insistence on spending.
The two found their way to a furniture shop, the styles here were better compared to the county’s. Although still somewhat outdated, Xu Hai loved them, believing the displays were naturally good items.
"Where do these furniture pieces come from?" Xu Mumu curiously asked the saleswoman while handing her some candy.
"Why ask?" Mi Erni took the candy subtly, scanning Xu Mumu curiously. The girl seemed well-dressed, not like someone short on cash, and here, bargaining wasn’t an option.
"There are too few styles here. I want to check the furniture factories." Xu Mumu responded calmly.
"Comrade, are you here to make trouble? These are the most comprehensive in the provincial city." Mi Erni said, warily eyeing Xu Mumu.
"I’m just speaking the truth, sister. Just tell me where the factories are, please." Xu Mumu plied with more candy, hopeful that the information might lead to securing a job for her father.
The household might need work, and though Xu Hai might not be the best, the basics were there. She knew those modern furniture styles and thought exchanging a few new designs for a temporary job and sets seemed feasible.
Xu Mumu silently calculated and found it doable.
"Alright, alright, they’re by Five Miles Bridge west of the city; ask anyone there, and you’ll find it." Two handfuls of candy were worth it, so Mi Erni candidly shared the location with Xu Mumu.
"Thank you, sister." Xu Mumu smiled brightly.
"Dad, let’s buy some notebooks and drawing tools over there." Xu Mumu pulled Xu Hai away with a smile.
"Daughter, why not buy them? Those pieces were nice." Xu Hai was anxious as he could see the quality, despite his limited woodworking skill.
"Dad, trust me, let’s talk after we get back. Right, we’ll get a small table first." Xu Mumu laughed while purchasing a small square table from Mi Erni and had her dad carry it; they grabbed paper, pens, and measurement tools, heading back to their newly bought house.
