Chapter 240: SHE FOUND HER PEACE AND HAPPINESS

Zuri couldn’t understand Lorent’s true motive.

If his mate was in Khaos’ hands, why wouldn’t he wanted to meet with him and exchange her with his mate?

Wasn’t that the most logical thing to do? If he really cared for his mate, he should have found a way to get her back, right?

Why would he do this and put everything in jeopardy? The more he angered Khaos, the more he put everything at risk. It didn’t make sense for Zuri.

However, She didn’t have the opportunity to ask that and it was not like Lorent would answer her question.

Right now, Zuri was facing three beasts and four warriors. The end of this fight would be obvious. She could try to fight them all. She was not going to go down without a fight. But, it was obvious that she didn’t stand a chance to fight them all.

Yet, at the very least, she could buy some time for Khaos to be able to reach her. To get closer to her. This was her last option.

"Don’t even think about that, Zuri," Lorent said darkly. He approached her carefully like he did a confused beast. "You will only hurt yourself."

Zuri didn’t hear his warning and started to launch an attack toward these people. She tried to shift, but the pain from the silver chain prevented her.

However, the fight didn’t last for long, because it was done in less than 5 minutes, since Zuri was extremely tired and in so much pain, she couldn’t heal from the wound, and now one of the warriors had clawed her stomach where it was bleeding profusely, rendered her unable to move.

She couldn’t breathe, she couldn’t even scream. She curled her body on the ground, the caused her ears were ringing. The pain was too much and she was dehydrated, hungry and worn off, since Lauren didn’t really give her food.

He wanted her to be as weak as possible so she could only barely alive without any strength to fight back. He accomplished that wonderfully.

This damned man really needed to be killed.

"I told you not to fight me back." Lorent approached Zuri and caressed her cheeks. He ordered the warriors to clean up the mess and use Zuri’s blood to enhance her scent, so Khaos would follow them without any suspicion. "You wouldn’t be in this pain if you simply listen to me."

Lorent looked callous at the pain that Zuri suffered, she writhed her body, as her blood kept oozing out from the wound on her stomach. He took Zuri away, back to the carriage.

She didn’t run too far since her exhausted body couldn’t bear it.

Once they were back to the carriage, Lorent stripped off her from her dress. He even stripped her from her underwear which leaving her naked. But after that, Lauren immediately took off his own cloak and put it over her body to cover her nakedness and mask her scent.

After that Lorent took a horse and ordered his warrior to follow this path with Zuri dress. They would act as a decoy for Khaos, so the lycan would think Zuri was still with them while Lorent was actually taking Zuri to take different path.

However, Zuri kept struggling, she kept fighting him and it would be difficult for Lorent to take her peacefully.

"Stop it, Zuri. You will not accomplish anything by fighting me." Lorent pressed her body against his chest, as she was sitting in front of him, but his hand found the wet blood on her stomach. She was still bleeding, normally, these wounds should have healed.

"I swear, I am going to kill you, Lorent. Khaos will tear you apart and I will enjoy watching it."

Lorent couldn’t care less with that threat, but he wondered why Zuri was still bleeding. She tried to claw him, but he dodged it easily.

With how unwilling Zuri to cooperate with him, he didn’t have another choice, Lorent finally pulled something from his pocket and somehow Zuri realized what it was.

She noticed that because she had seen it before. Princess Lyra had used it and now that drug was in Lorent’s possession. He then asked one of the warriors with him to light it up and when the smoke appeared he force Zuri to breathe in it.

At first, Zuri fought him like crazy. She knew what would happen and she didn’t want that for herself.

"Fuck you, Lorent! Fuck you!" Zuri managed to claw his neck, but it was not deep enough to cause trouble or any real damage.

Zuri couldn’t fight him and the first time she took a breath in it, it fell suffocating. But then, the effect of it came almost immediately. Her head was spinning, her head felt so light. She felt like all of her worries disappeared and her shoulders were no longer felt so heavy.

She hated this because she knew this was the effect of the drug.

However, she couldn’t deny the fact that it made her felt good.

The second time she breathed in it, she was willingly doing it, and the third time she was greedy to breathe in it even more. Zuri didn’t know why, but the voices in her head shut down immediately.

She felt peaceful.

She felt like the world was finally on her side.

She felt like her misery came to end.

And she remembered how Princess Lyra looked like when she was taking this drug. She looked peaceful. She looked happy. Probably this drug could make her happy too.

Probably she finally could find her happiness.

"Stop fighting me," Lorent said against her ears and his voice lulled her tensed body to relax, as she breathed in the smoke. Her eyelids fluttered. "Sleep and take a rest, Zuri. It will be a long journey."

Zuri wanted to fight back, reminding herself that Khaos was nearby, but then the temptation was too hard to deny.

She found her peace and happiness.
