A Night of Desire-Chapter 185: Something’s Up with Seth Today
After hanging up, Clara Grant felt she was being a little neurotic. Cherie had only asked if she wanted to talk to him, and she had gotten so scared she’d hung up!
She wondered if he would be angry again after she so bluntly refused to talk with him. ’Tch. What does he have to be angry about? Maybe he didn’t even want to talk to me in the first place.’
’Besides, we really have nothing to talk about.’
’But... he has been pretty good to me. Whatever his reasons, he’s helped me out a lot.’
’But I’ve already thanked him for all the things he’s helped me with, haven’t I?’
Clara Grant’s mind was a tangled mess, jumping from one thought to the next. With an annoyed grunt, she collapsed onto her bed.
Her feet restlessly thrashed about a few times with a THUMP, THUMP, THUMP, but her mind wouldn’t calm down in the slightest.
’Speaking of which, it’s been a month since I’ve seen him. I think I kind of miss the sound of his voice. Maybe it wouldn’t have been so bad to use that chance to say a few words to him.’
Miss him? Clara Grant froze, and her face immediately flushed red. ’Ahhh, how could I actually have a thought like that!’
’How could I miss that beast?’
She grabbed the blanket, pulled it over her head, and kicked her feet even more frantically.
It was a good thing Holly Summers was away on a shoot, or she would have thought Clara was having a breakdown.
But even lying in bed with the covers over her head and kicking her feet couldn’t stop her mind from racing.
A moment later, Clara Grant shot up in bed, put on her shoes, and got up. ’I should just go to the set. At least it’ll keep me from sitting here and overthinking everything.’

That afternoon, Seth Quinn returned to the office, his expression glacial. It was as if his entire body was coated in a layer of frost; he exuded an aura so cold it could make someone shiver and tremble from several meters away.
The moment Chase Childs saw the president’s face, he knew the man was in a bad mood. A very bad mood.
’Forget it. If there’s nothing important, I’d better avoid disturbing the president this afternoon. That way I won’t get caught in the crossfire.’
But his wishful thinking was quickly shattered. This time, not only would he be caught in the fallout, but it seemed none of the company’s senior executives would be spared either.
Because the president had, on a whim, decided to call a company-wide meeting with all department heads.
By the time Chase Childs had notified all the departments and the managers had begun trickling into the conference room, Seth Quinn was already seated firmly in the president’s chair, waiting.
River Sterling sauntered in last, his arm slung carelessly over Linden Jennings’s shoulder.
Linden Jennings shot a sidelong glance at River Sterling, who was practically hanging off him, and tried to shrug his arm off with a look of disdain.
When that didn’t work, he had no choice but to forcefully pry River’s "paw" off his shoulder, shake him loose, and take two quick steps to his own seat on Seth Quinn’s left.
River Sterling just raised an eyebrow, unconcerned, and took his seat to Seth Quinn’s right.
Before they could even settle into their chairs, Seth Quinn slammed the file in his hand onto the table with a loud SMACK. "Is this how sluggishly you all normally operate?" he demanded sharply.
Everyone jumped in fright. Chase Childs thought to himself, ’It’s over. Here we go.’
Even Linden Jennings, who was normally calm and collected, looked at Seth Quinn in astonishment. ’Seth is usually serious,’ he thought, ’but he never loses his temper like this. What’s gotten into him today?’
River Sterling was so startled he muttered "Holy shit" under his breath, and his casually crossed leg dropped to the floor.
’Something’s definitely up with Seth today!’
His fear, however, was quickly replaced by a burgeoning interest. Seth was usually inscrutable, only ever showing his emotions when it came to one particular person.
And that person, of course, was Clara Grant!
’So what on earth did Clara Grant do today to piss Seth off this badly?’
