A Night of Desire-Chapter 69: Throwing a Little Tantrum at Me
Faye Jennings had stunning looks and excellent acting skills, and was the actress Aegis Pictures had been heavily promoting in recent years. She lived up to the company’s high hopes; after starring in a few dramas, she skyrocketed from an unknown actress to a domestic A-list star in less than two years.
By all accounts, Faye Jennings was already at the pinnacle of success, her life seemingly perfect. But people always have other desires.
And Faye Jennings’ desire was Seth Quinn!
She had been in love with Seth Quinn from the moment she first laid eyes on him.
But Seth Quinn didn’t seem to show her any more favor than he did anyone else. Even though she was now Aegis’s top actress, her opportunities to even speak with him were few and far between!
So, from the moment Seth Quinn entered the room, Faye Jennings couldn’t take her eyes off him. But her seat was quite far from his. After they sat down, she had wanted to take the opportunity to propose a toast, hoping to make more of an impression on him, but he immediately began speaking in low tones with the director and screenwriter.
Of course, she couldn’t just interrupt their conversation. Now, seeing that they seemed to have finished talking, she stood up, pushed her chair back, and prepared to walk over to propose a toast to Seth Quinn.
But just as she got to her feet, there was a knock on the door to the private room, and then it was pushed open.
The moment the door opened, the room fell silent once more, making the sound of Faye Jennings pushing her chair back seem particularly loud and abrupt.
Faye Jennings stood there, feeling a bit awkward. To make matters worse, the supporting actress sitting beside her saw her stand up and asked, "Faye, what’s wrong?"
"Oh, it’s nothing." Faye Jennings sat back down and replied in a low voice, "I was just about to go to the restroom. Since someone’s here, I’ll just wait."
The supporting actress nodded and turned her attention back to the people standing at the entrance.
Faye Jennings stole a glance around the room. Seeing that everyone was focused on the doorway and hadn’t noticed her, she breathed a sigh of relief and also looked over.
Clara Grant stood at the entrance with Sarah Shelby and peered into the private room. It was filled with handsome men and beautiful women, several of whom were big names in the entertainment industry, like the actress Faye Jennings and the renowned director Liam Keane.
Faye Jennings was a great actress, and Liam Keane a brilliant director. Clara Grant felt a thrill of excitement seeing them, her gaze darting between their faces. She automatically ignored everyone else, including Seth Quinn, who was looking down at his phone.
Seth Quinn had heard the knock, of course, but he assumed it was a waiter and didn’t look up, continuing to reply to a message on his phone.
River Sterling and Linden Jennings, however, got a clear look at Clara Grant. They exchanged a glance, both inwardly cursing. ’Holy crap, isn’t that the girl who got us into a fight the other day? The one Seth ended up taking with him?’
’Her suddenly showing up here... Don’t tell me Seth slept with her, and now she’s come knocking on his door?’
While the two men were still communicating with their eyes, Sarah Shelby spoke directly to Director Keane. "Director Keane, I’m sorry to interrupt. My name is Sarah Shelby, and this is my good friend, Clara Grant. We came today hoping to try for a role in your production..."
But before she could finish, River Sterling, forgetting his usual composure, whispered urgently to Linden Jennings, "Holy crap, holy crap! Clara Grant... It’s Clara Grant..."
’No wonder Seth made an exception to personally arrange a role for someone. So *that’s* the Clara Grant he was talking about!’
’Seth has never paid this much attention to a girl before. Is this... the start of a new romance?’
Linden Jennings, who hadn’t overheard the earlier conversation between Seth and the director, looked quizzically at the babbling, over-excited River Sterling. ’He wasn’t this worked up when he first realized it was the girl Seth rescued,’ he thought. ’Why is he freaking out now that he’s heard her name?’
"Huh? Clara Grant? What about her?"
Meanwhile, the moment Director Keane saw Clara Grant, he became nearly as excited as River Sterling. He shot up from his chair, pointed a finger at Clara, and stammered, "You... you... you’re Clara Grant?"
Clara Grant nodded, her expression bewildered. Director Keane whipped his head around to face the equally thrilled screenwriter. "Oh my god, we finally found her! We finally found her!"
"Yes, yes!" The screenwriter, who had also gotten to his feet, chimed in.
Clara Grant was now utterly baffled. ’I just came here to find a role,’ she thought. ’Why are these two acting like they’ve found their long-lost daughter?’
"Ah, President Quinn, you have a killer eye! I was just wondering if the person you recommended would be a good fit. But one look at her, and it’s clear—this Clara Grant is absolutely perfect." As he spoke, the director, in his excitement, looked like he wanted to grab both of Seth Quinn’s hands in a gesture of pure admiration.
The moment Seth Quinn heard the name "Clara Grant," the hands that had been flying across his phone’s keyboard paused. He heard Director Keane’s words before he even had a chance to look up.
The next second, he lifted his head and looked toward the door. And there she was—that pure, beautiful face.
Somehow, Seth Quinn suddenly recalled the kiss they had shared that morning at the entrance to The Nymphaea.
And so, his gaze fell upon her lips, which were a natural, rosy red.
When Clara Grant heard the director’s words, she froze. ’President Quinn?’
Her gaze subconsciously followed the director’s gesture and landed on the man sitting beside him, his head still lowered. Her eyes widened. ’That man... he looks like Seth Quinn.’
The thought had barely formed when the man lifted his head. She felt an urge to cry. ’It really is Seth Quinn!’
Then she saw his gaze drift downward, seemingly fixed on her mouth. Clara Grant couldn’t help but remember their kiss from that morning, and a fresh wave of anger surged through her.
Beside her, Sarah Shelby was also completely bewildered. ’Based on what Director Keane just said... did Seth Quinn arrange a role in *A Lifetime of Splendor* for Clara?’
She leaned closer to Clara Grant and whispered, "Clara, you know Seth Quinn?"
Clara Grant was still lost in her own turbulent emotions. When she heard her friend speak, she instinctively turned to look at her.
"Seth Quinn. President Quinn. The president of Aegis Pictures. You know him?" Sarah Shelby clarified.
Clara Grant’s brow furrowed deeply. ’Seth Quinn is the president of Aegis Pictures?’
’Does that mean he’s the ultimate boss behind *A Lifetime of Splendor*?’
’How ironic. Just this morning, she had told herself it would be best if she never saw him again, and tonight, she was here asking for a job from his company!’
’In that case, she’d rather not have the role than let him look down on her!’
With that thought, Clara Grant shot Seth Quinn a disdainful look, then turned and walked away under the stunned gazes of everyone in the room.
"Clara! Clara..." Sarah Shelby hadn’t expected her to just walk out. She hastily bowed to the people inside. "I’m so sorry to have disturbed you all, my apologies, my apologies..."
With that, she also turned and hurried out to chase after Clara Grant.
Seeing Clara Grant leave, both Director Keane and the screenwriter grew anxious. Helpless, they could only turn to Seth Quinn. "President Quinn, this..."
Seth Quinn, however, stood up as if nothing had happened. His gaze toward the door actually held a hint of amusement. "It’s fine," he said. "She’s just upset I didn’t tell her beforehand. She’s just being a little pouty with me."
He spoke in a calm, unhurried tone, tinged with a hint of doting affection.
