A Night of Desire-Chapter 68: I Think She’s Quite Suitable
On that subject, Liam Keane couldn’t help but let out a soft sigh. "To be frank, President Quinn, Editor Adler and I haven’t found anyone we’re truly happy with for the role of Tina. Although she’s a supporting character, her role is far from insignificant. The actress who plays her must not only look the part but also have the acting chops to bring the character of Tina to life."
Editor Adler, the scriptwriter seated nearby, nodded emphatically. "That’s right. I poured a lot of my heart and soul into this character. Tina is a woman who embodies both innocence and allure. She has a beautiful, pure appearance, but she can also exude an irresistible charm. Yet, her allure is tinged with a touch of naivety, so she never comes across as tawdry. Unfortunately, none of the actresses we’ve auditioned quite fit the bill."
Director Keane sighed and picked up where the editor left off. "So, we had to settle for the next best thing and chose someone from within the company who was a close-enough match."
"I believe," Seth Quinn began calmly after they finished, "that the first principle of a good series is that the actors must be right for their parts. They have to fit the characters. So, if she isn’t the best fit, then replace her."
His words left not only Director Keane and the editor stunned, but even River Sterling was taken aback.
Though there were only about a dozen people at the meal, they were seated at a very large, round table. With everyone talking and laughing, and since Seth Quinn’s conversation with the director and editor wasn’t particularly loud, few could overhear what was being said.
River Sterling could only hear because he was seated right next to Director Keane. Plus, he was desperate to know why Seth Quinn had suddenly appeared, so he was straining to listen in.
If River Sterling had merely been surprised when Seth Quinn first arrived, now he was deeply puzzled.
’Seth never meddles in these matters, but today he’s suddenly taking an interest.’
"But, President Quinn, we really can’t find a more suitable actress," Director Keane said quickly, recovering from his shock.
Seth Quinn didn’t beat around the bush and said directly, "I know someone. She’s a student in the acting department at The Nymphaea, and I think she’d be a good fit. She should be more than capable of handling the role of Tina. I’ll give you her number. You can have her come in for an audition tomorrow."
The director and editor were speechless. ’The president is personally arranging a role for someone! Who would’ve thought that a man who’s always been so strict about separating business from personal matters would actually pull strings like this!’
Any other director would have figured that if the president was making a recommendation, there was no need for an audition; they would just sign the contract and bring her onto the cast.
But this was Liam Keane. He certainly wasn’t going to lower his casting standards just to do the president a favor.
’An audition is fine,’ he thought. ’If she’s truly suitable, all the better. If not, I won’t cast her.’
So, he saved the phone number from President Quinn and said he would have her come in for an audition the next day.
"By the way, her name is Clara Grant," Seth Quinn added.
River Sterling repeated the name to himself, his lips curling into a sly smile. ’Aha, after this dinner is over, I’m going to have to properly interrogate Seth. Just who in the world is this Clara Grant, to make a man as impartial to a fault as Seth personally arrange a role for her?’
Seth Quinn said nothing more on the matter, simply clinking glasses with the director and editor before taking a drink.
At that table, besides River Sterling, there was one other person paying rapt attention to Seth Quinn: Faye Jennings, the female lead of *A Lifetime of Splendor*.
