A Night of Desire-Chapter 87: Kissing Away Her Tears
No wonder her parents divorced, and her mother left with nothing yet without a single complaint!
No wonder whenever she showed her resentment for Cedric Grant, her mother would always urge her not to blame him too much!
And whenever she told her mother she was too forbearing, too kind, too weak, her mother would always look like she wanted to say something but held back!
But even so, her mother was the victim. She had never wronged Cedric Grant. Cedric Grant could abandon her, his own daughter, but what right did a man who had an affair and an illegitimate daughter have to abandon a wife who had never betrayed him?
And what right did Chloe Grant have to slander her mother like that?
Thinking of the mental anguish her mother had endured over the past year, Clara Grant’s eyes stung, and tears instantly streamed down her face.
A year ago, when her mother learned the truth, she had thought about ending her own life. But she couldn’t bear to leave her daughter, so she found the strength to live on.
A year ago, to prevent her from learning the truth too suddenly, to give her time to process it, her mother chose to leave with nothing, dragging her frail, sickly body, in exchange for delaying the revelation.
Even though she was living proof of her mother’s lifelong humiliation, her mother had never shown the slightest hint of disgust or hatred toward her.
Her mother loved her so much, but what had she ever done for her mother?
The more she thought about it, the more fiercely Clara Grant’s tears fell, and soon her entire face was soaked.
She was so lost in her emotions that she didn’t hear the knock on the door at all. Naturally, she also didn’t notice Seth Quinn, who, after knocking several times without a response, simply pushed the door open and came in.
Upon entering, Seth Quinn first froze when he saw Clara Grant’s tear-streaked face. Then, his heart clenched, and a flicker of panic rose within him.
Without a second thought, he strode over to her, his voice laced with a tension he himself didn’t realize was there.
"What’s wrong?"
Hearing his voice, Clara Grant subconsciously lifted her face.
When she saw Seth Quinn, she seemed a little surprised, as if she hadn’t yet pulled herself out of her emotional state. She didn’t even remember to wipe the tears from her face, just stared at him blankly.
Seeing that she wasn’t speaking and that tears were still falling from her large eyes, Seth Quinn grew more anxious and asked again, "I’m asking what’s wrong. Why are you crying?"
Perhaps because his voice was a bit heavier this time, Clara Grant let out a nasal hum, whether consciously or not.
"Hm?"
Seth Quinn sighed softly. Before he could even process what he was doing, he had already leaned down, gently pressing his lips to her tear-soaked face, tenderly kissing each of her tears away.
When his cool, thin lips touched her cheek, Clara Grant was snapped back to her senses, only to be dazed by his gentle kiss, her heart thrown into turmoil.
When she came to her senses again, she abruptly shoved him away. Desperately trying to calm the wild THUMP-THUMP of her heart, she shot a panicked glance at Cherie on the hospital bed, then furrowed her brow and put on a furious expression to demand:
"W-w-what are you doing?"
Without waiting for Seth Quinn’s reply, she rushed into the bathroom and shut the door.
Caught off guard, Seth Quinn staggered from her push. Thankfully, his quick reflexes allowed him to steady himself in time.
He ran his tongue over his lips. They were salty—the taste of her tears.
Seth Quinn’s gaze fell on the closed bathroom door.
Although he hadn’t known her for long, in his mind, Clara Grant was the type of girl who was optimistic, cheerful, and stubborn. 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
No matter how bad her circumstances, she was always optimistic and cheerful. Even when faced with hardship, she was too stubborn to cry.
At The Tuberose, when people were giving her a hard time, even when she thought he had taken her virginity, she hadn’t shed a single tear.
But now, she was crying a river.
’Is it because of the astronomical medical bills?’
