A Regressor's Guide to the Frozen Apocalypse-Chapter 56: Gamble With The Orbs (1)
Chapter 56: Gamble With The Orbs (1)
It had been almost a day since Light had parted ways with the group that Elise had entrusted to him. Light and the mercenaries he was bringing with him had almost reached home.
Due to the lack of masks, they bypassed Warwick Castle and headed directly to the house that would be used as the main headquarters.
The work in front of the house was officially visible on the road. The snow around seemed to have been completely dug up. It had been a while since Light had left home, but he had not expected Leonard and the others to be able to handle so much work.
Of course, this seemed to have given Light a great surprise.
Having entered the boundaries of the house, Light and the group behind him saw the wide door in front of them. Light seemed to be happy that he could see a part of the security system he had built after the beginning of the apocalypse.
The fact that an electric fence, which covered the entire perimeter from the door’s junction and could kill a person directly, was now in front of him was frightening even Light.
What he wondered was whether this electricity could kill him with his current body. Of course, he had no desire to try this.
"Don’t touch the fence, you will die." Light suddenly said, and then he took out a key from his Sub-Space and opened the door. Of course, the door was not only opened with a key. Before that, eye DNA, saliva DNA and voice checks were made and finally, a key had to be inserted into the gate.
Unless he allows others no one will be able to open this door and other fence-lock systems.
This fence was of course very strong, but it was thin and not like the fences that can be seen in normal life.
Seriously, these were long fences, almost a metre thick, intertwined with each other. This was their main danger, once the electricity was held, it could show a catastrophic reaction because of this. Of course, this consumed an enormous amount of energy.
Light was lucky that this energy was gained from the red sun, which could be incredibly helpful.
"MASTER LIGHT!"
As Light passed through the gates of the three electrified fences with the group, he heard a voice that sounded very familiar to him. Lawrence was coming towards the group.
The group members were surprised to realise that an old man was coming fast towards them, but what surprised them even more was the fact that this old man, whom they recognised as Arah, had called this man by a different name.
When Light realised that Lawrence was running towards them, he gently grabbed his mask and removed it. The group members were a little surprised to see his face, everything seemed to be happening too fast for them.
After all, none of them thought that Light would reveal his identity like this.
When Light realised this, he turned to the group and said, "Don’t worry, we’re closer than you think, as long as you don’t tell anyone else, we’ll be fine."
The group immediately nodded in agreement.
After a short while, Lawrance approached the group, bowed his head respectfully and then said, "Welcome, Master Light, I’m relieved to see that you’re safe and sound."
"It’s all good, Lawrance, just relax and please show these guys the way. Give them some of the tents I left at the house."
Light said to Lawrence with a smile and then pulled a chair out of his Sub-Space and placed it on the frozen grass where the snow could now be seen, it looked like they had some work to do.
There were still metres of snow not far outside the fence of the house, but at least the inside of the fence was safe and everything could be seen properly.
"What about you, sir?" Lawrence asked suddenly, and with a serious look from Light, he left the area, taking the group with him. Whatever Light was going to do, it had to be important, and it wouldn’t make much sense to cross him or engage him in conversation right now.
The reason why Light had such a face was very obvious, it was time to open the orbs he had won. Since he was behind the fence and far enough away from his family, he wouldn’t worry people even if he collapsed on the ground after gaining status points.
That was the only reason he was here, of course.
He took out all the orbs in his Light Sub-Space and put them on the ground. When he read the description of each sphere with his inspection skill, he encountered something he never expected.
Some orbs were not like the orbs he had before.
The orbs he had bought from the shopkeeper had given him +1 skill point, but none of these orbs contained the word guarantee. Although he read the descriptions dozens of times, there was no such thing. It was incredibly demoralising.
However, it seemed that there was nothing left for him to do, and he was about to open the orbs one by one when it suddenly occurred to him that he had not opened one of the 3 orbs he had received.
He took out the Tier 4 Fire Mutant Essence from his Sub-Space and then shattered the unbroken orb with just his hands, what he saw was something that made him tremble with excitement.
[Tier 4 Fire Mutant Essence
50% chance for the user to gain [Fire Spell(Beginner)].
Light suddenly stood up. He seemed to feel all the hairs on his body start to dance. There was no way to describe the thoughts in his mind. The expression of happiness on his face turned his eyes golden yellow, like a merchant who had found money.
"Do I have a chance to win something with a starting spell worth more than 10,000 system points for free? How can such a thing even make sense!" Light suddenly muttered. He didn’t know how happy he was that he hadn’t greedily bought this spell from the system shop.
He was really about to fall on his knees and pray to all the gods he knew. He was shaking from hand to foot, not quite sure what was going on and trying to figure out if his inspection skill was broken in a strange but understandable way.
One thing was certain though, if he used this essence and obtained that skill, his already superhuman body would have an incredible power that would bring him closer to perfection.
He had no choice but to hope for the best.
