A Regressor's Guide to the Frozen Apocalypse-Chapter 64: Towards The Railway Station
Chapter 64: Towards The Railway Station
"Tell me, Charles, what happened?" Light questioned.
When Charles managed to breathe deeply and come to himself, he activated the radio in his hand and then put it on the table and said, "This happened, sir." At that very moment, that scratchy yet distinct sound started to rise from the radio:
"BZZT!! KNIGTON RAILWAY STATION DEPOT!!! ABOUT 40 PEOPLE!!! ZZZSSTT!!!"
Light turned to Charles after hearing the voices and asked, "How did they get on the radio frequency? Do you know who they are?" he questioned.
Charles shook his head left and right and replied, "No sir, I just heard them talking about mutant zombies and ran here immediately."
After this answer, Light took the radio in his hand and then pressed the talk button and asked "Do you copy?’"
As soon as he asked this question, the voices on the radio suddenly stopped and after only a few seconds, a shout of "YES!!!" was heard. Behind this ’yes’ sound, many sounds of joy managed to come out of the radio.
The people behind the radio seemed to be going crazy with joy.
"Can you tell me exactly what happened?" Light asked.
When he asked this question, it took a very short time for an answer to come:
"We’ve been living in the station depot for the last five months. We have a group of 40 people, one wounded and thirty who can fight. We have two doctors, two engineers, an electrical engineer and many others."
Light was amazed when he heard this answer, even if at first he could not understand how such a large group could live, the fact that there were generators because of the backward or forward message-sending system that was guaranteed to exist in railway stations and that he knew about it changed everything.
The electrical engineer should have made everything easier.
"Understood. You said Knighton railway station depot, didn’t you?" Light suddenly questioned, and then "Yes!" came back over the radio.
Light shook his head where he was and then, praying inwardly that he hadn’t made the wrong decision, uttered these words:
"We’ll be there. Over."
As Light spoke those words, he turned to Charles and said, "Tell the others to get ready, we’re leaving."
As soon as Charles heard those words, he put on the coat he had bought from Lawrence and left the radio in the room, first greeting Petunia and then leaving the house.
Light remained where he was and turned to Pacifica and said, "Get ready." As soon as Pasifica nodded, she moved quickly towards her room went inside and closed the door.
Light, on the other hand, quickly, after almost thirty minutes, went back downstairs to the lower floor of the house with everything ready and saw Pacifica, the two were clearly prepared.
Petunia took her younger brother Light’s hands and said, "Be careful, both of you." The fact that even Petunia no longer objected to anything meant that she too was growing up.
With that, Petunia opened the box she had brought from her room and then gave the mask she had taken out of it to Pacifica and said, "I have made a mask for all four of us, and if the symbol of the Scavengers is the crow, we each need one. That is if we are in the leadership team." he said and looked at Light.
Light smiled and said, "Good idea, sister." and saw that the crow mask that Pacifica had bought had the symbol of the group and white stripes on it.
Petunia smiled when she noticed her little brother’s look and then said, "The leader takes the pure crow, the jet black one, and the others take the white patterned one, which is a lower tier, it doesn’t sound like a bad idea."
Light smiled and nodded, then put on his mask and walked out of the house with Pacifica.
When they managed to quickly join the rest of the group, Light looked at the group and then turned to Charles and gave a direct order, "You will stay here to protect Aurora and the house."
Charles nodded and stood in a soldier’s salute.
Light opened his palm and brought out a snowmobile in front of the gate. This vehicle was like a car, only it had skidded to make it easier to travel in the snow. It was a vehicle that was mostly used in incredibly cold places or in areas such as Antarctica where research was being done.
When each person in the group jumped into the vehicle, Light started the vehicle and started driving quickly towards Knighton.
He knew Powys very well. Before moving here, he had done so much research and travelled here so much in his free time that he knew almost every place within the borders of Powys like his own name.
Even if many places were buried under the snow, if there was a group that had fought mutant zombies, at least the surroundings should have been dug up. Since Light knew the area very well, he could at least make a quick drive to the railway station.
It had been almost five days since the group at the station had started trying to reach the people around, which meant that they had been trying to connect to external frequencies every day since the mutant zombie they had killed.
It was indeed a call for help, and Light, with the radio in his hand, was beginning to realise that the frequency was starting to improve.
This meant that Light was very close to the station.
After almost an hour of deep driving, Light had indeed managed to arrive at the railway station with the group.
The railway station and the depot were crawling with zombies, Light was just praying inside...that those inside the station would be alive.
He only prayed because he didn’t want to come back here empty-handed.
He might have been a good person, but he had revenge on his mind and an older sister he wanted to protect. So it would not be a problem for him to turn into one of the worst people for the sake of these endeavours.
The rest would be clear at the station anyway.
