Chapter 445: The Twin Sword of Light and Dark

The three children fought their way into the mines without the help of Elaina. As much as Elaina wanted to help them, they insisted that it was better for Elaina to just watch them instead of actively helping them as to "accumulate their experience" and let them soak it in much better. As a result, Elaina was just tagging along with them as they continued to fight the enemies all by themselves. And for once, Elaina is a bit jealous of how they are still full of energy even after all the fighting they have been doing for a few hours already.

Thankfully, they do rest in the resting spots of the mines. Since the children have been hungry from fighting, Elaina and the kids stopped at the hot springs and have taken their snacks there. Considering how time stops in the mines, by the time they get out of the mines, they will be eating the actual lunch instead of the food that Elaina bought for them in case they get hungry. The kids are pretty much big eaters.

"It’s sad that Layla and Mier aren’t here. They could learn to experience combat with us like this," Arthur lamented.

"Brother...remember that they aren’t combat maniacs like the two of you are. They use magic for themselves, but not for the sake of fighting monsters," Adelaide interrupted Arthur’s sad monologue.

"Then how come you don’t seem to mind fighting, Sister? Aren’t you similar to Layla and Mier in many aspects?" Raye asked.

"Although I am indeed just taking it easy, I don’t see any problem with fighting monsters. And besides, I can take this chance to rein in the two of you in case you two would suddenly just start doing too much that I have to control the two of you."

"Just admit it, my dear twin. You are the same as us, battle maniacs. Don’t hide it. You should embrace that we fight monsters openly."

"Heh, don’t mistake this, my dear twin. I fight not because I like it, but because it can enhance my mastery in using magic and my other skills. The monsters are perfect candidates for punching bags and target practice. Unless the two of you are willing to be my test subjects?"

Hearing this, both Raye and Arthur shut their mouths before they could say something that might provoke Adelaide’s anger. freewebnoveℓ.com

Elaina chuckled, listening to their banter. "Alright, everyone. That’s enough banter. We are almost at our destination."

"So our destination is the 30th floor?" Adelaide asked.

"Correct. But don’t be surprised. Compared to the previous floors we are in, except for the unique floors, the 30th floor is much spacious and bigger than one would expect that place to be seems like it has been teleported there. And remember, they might be shorter than you three, but that doesn’t mean they are children. They are much older than you three, and me. Ensure that you all mind your manners in front of them, alright?"

Arthur nodded. "I read them in books before. If they are as amazing as what the books said they were, then I can see why you decided to ask them to forge weapons for us."

Once the three cleared level 29 and finished collecting the items they looted from the enemies, the group descended to the next level, allowing them to reach the 30th floor. The village remains the same as always, the same smell of metal and the loud banging of the hammer is enough to know that the village continues to function.

Descending on the ladder, a few dwarves came to greet them.

"Oh, it’s Elaina. Looks like you brought along your litter, eh? Adorable kids," one of the female dwarves chuckled as she welcomed us to the village.

"You remembered my name now?"

"Yep. The rest of the village did as well. Considering that you were the only human who periodically visits us to deliver goods from time to time, you can say that you are our only connection to the surface. But with your litter here, at least we are confident that others also know our existence now, aside from you."

The other dwarves also greeted Elaina and also greeted the kids, which made the three happy that the bearded individuals who came to greet them were kind.

"Is the Village Chief here?" Elaina asked.

"He should be in his house. I heard he is on the finishing touches of his work and is only waiting for you to take it," one of the nearby dwarves said.

"Thanks."

As the group is nearing their destination, they heard a loud bang of a hammer, loud enough that the banging sound still rings in their ears.

"Wow, that hammer was so loud. What is going on?"

Elaina kept herself quiet and knocks on the village chief’s door.

"Elder, I have arrived. Are the swords done?" Elaina asked.

Soon, the Village Chief went out of the door with two swords on his hands covered with their respective scabbards.

"Sure do, girl. These are my finest works yet. And although it can’t rival the workmanship of the sword you wield, mine is not something that can be trifled with," the Village Chief said with a proud tone in his voice. Then, his attention changed towards Elaina’s kids.

"And I see that you brought your kids along. Based on the smell of their blades, they did fight their way here then?"

"Pretty much. Said that I shouldn’t interfere and help them as I will easily kill the monsters and wanted to do all the job themselves."

"Pretty good rascals you have. But considering how you have descended quite deep into the mines already, I must say that they have a point. Helping them with your strength would not help them grow in combat. You will just stagnate them. So it is a good thing you remained on watch on them, but remained passive. But enough of that, who will be the wielders of the two swords?"

"The boys."

"Aha, toys for the big boys, eh? Good. Now then, you two. Pick which sword seems to resonate with you two. You will know once you are near the swords."

Arthur and Raye approached both swords, and all of a sudden, the two swords emit an aura that even Elaina, who doesn’t detect magic visually, can see appear on the swords themselves.

"What tremendous power!" Elaina was surprised.

"Looks like the swords I made resonate well with your boys, Elaina. Congratulations, you two. Looks like the moment the two of you approached the swords, the swords themselves have chosen their owners already.

Arthur and Raye looked at each other before nodding and holding both the handles of the swords. As soon as they hold the swords in their hands, the aura that the swords were emitting earlier disappears as soon as it can.

Arthur held his sword up before pulling it out of the scabbard, revealing a white sword that resembled the white snow during winter. As for Raye, the sword differs quite well from Arthur’s sword as it is the opposite of it. If Arthur’s sword is white, Raye’s sword is black.

"These swords I made are called the Twin Swords of Light and Dark. Just like how you wanted it, Elaina."
