Chapter 154: 153 be considerate to me, okay_1

That winter was unbearably cold.

It was too cold outside, and Shen Jing began to get lazy, snuggling up to Zhou Luchen in bed, not wanting to go out and not allowing him to go out either.

Zhou Luchen uncharacteristically indulged her. After they were finished, he asked with a low chuckle, "Are you addicted?"

"You’re the one who got me hooked," Shen Jing pressed against his chest, letting his fingers gently caress her back.

This addiction ran deep, so deep she had grown accustomed to craving it.

The things Zhou Luchen taught her were like opening a wondrous magic box; she reveled in the experiences, unwilling to restrain herself.

The bedroom was unlit, with only the faint neon glow from the high-rise across the street filtering in.

"Come to Switzerland with me after the New Year."

Zhou Luchen never asked for her opinion; he only made arrangements.

Shen Jing shook her head. "United Bank Headquarters are in Switzerland. We’d have to stay for a long time, and I’ve never been out of the country for that long."

Her grandmother was getting old. During Shen Jing’s last trip back to the lane, her grandmother hadn’t been walking well. Shen Jing didn’t want to be too far from her, worried that if something happened, there would be no one to look after her.

Seeing Zhou Luchen’s expression darken as he watched her intently, Shen Jing hurriedly explained, looking pitiful, "I don’t want to be away from the teahouse. I’m always taking leave, and I keep missing the patrons who come to Hongtan specifically for me."

But these were all excuses.

Zhou Luchen’s frown deepened. "Is that little job all you care about?"

Shen Jing reached out and gently smoothed his furrowed brow. Drawing closer, she cradled his face, her nose brushing against his as she murmured coyly, her alluring pink lips parting and closing as she sweetly coaxed him.

"Don’t be angry. This is the only job I have; you know that."

Zhou Luchen avoided her gaze, clearly unmoved by her coquettish charm.

His decisions were rarely subject to change, Shen Jing thought. She continued aloud, "I’ve really never been to Switzerland. Maybe next time? Next time for sure, okay?"

Zhou Luchen gave no reaction, remaining stubbornly silent. This President Zhou really wasn’t someone to provoke, she thought.

She pulled the covers over both of them and coaxed in a low voice, "Uncle Luchen, please be considerate of me, okay?"

Her voice, muffled by the blankets, sounded incredibly soft and alluring.

A ghost of a smile touched Zhou Luchen’s lips, so fleeting no one would have noticed, before his expression reverted to its usual impassiveness.

"Go if you want, don’t if you don’t," he retorted.

Shen Jing complained, "You’re being mean."

"Then live by yourself from now on."

She pressed against his side. "I don’t want to live alone. What would I do when I miss you?"

Zhou Luchen grunted softly.

Although he ignored her, Shen Jing continued in her sweetly beguiling tone, "Come on, Uncle Luchen..."

She knew how to use a little charm to great effect, always managing to subtly soften his temper.

His fingertips kneaded her cheek, then moved to her small lips as he instructed, "Use these, hmm?"

Hearing this, Shen Jing tensed up, blushing to the roots of her ears. The very thought made her throat ache.

She normally had to cut strawberries into tiny pieces; how on earth had she managed to... swallow and spit... before?

"Will you forgive me? Can I choose not to go?"

He half-closed his eyes. "Perhaps."

He was the most refined man she had ever met, yet he was perpetually unsatisfied.

...

The weather grew even colder. Chen Yao invited everyone on a skiing trip, but nobody had the time to go.

Everyone was busy with their own affairs.

Chen Yao took his Xing Fei and went abroad for a vacation.

He had proclaimed, "Your choice to come or not, but an offer from me to treat is rare, you know!"

Nobody paid any attention to Chen Yao. It wasn’t as if anyone was short of the money for such a treat.

He diligently flaunted his relationship on social media, as if he were the only one with a girlfriend.

The eternally single Wei Sulin scathingly commented on his social media, "Flaunt your love, and it’ll die fast."

Apparently, Chen Yao had blocked him. The next day, Wei Sulin’s activity was absent from Chen Yao’s social media feed.

True to form, Chen Yao didn’t just go on vacation; his innate entrepreneurial spirit took over. He decisively bought a poorly-managed ski resort, planning to give it a complete makeover and bring it back from the brink.

After burying himself in work there for merely seven or eight days, Chen Yao suddenly returned to Shanghai.
