A Wrong Surrogate for the CEO-Chapter 31: The family needs a heir
Lara recognised her as one of the B-list actresses. She’d watched a few of her movies but somehow, she hadn’t been in movies these days.
Since no one really spared her a glance, she walked back and sat in the sitting room. She busied herself with her phone, trying to make sketches for her new draft.
She’s not his wife for real. She doesn’t have any connection with anyone in that family. The mistake in insemination brought her this trouble.
They sat down and were having dinner when Curtis realized that Lara was not with them. He stood up to go get her when his mother said.
"You shouldn’t worry about your guest, she’s having a nice time being alone" Lisa flippantly said, forcing a smile.
"No mom, she’s with me. She shouldn’t be alone" Curtis insisted when his sister said "Just where would you want her to sit? She’s been courteous and you’re peeping for trouble"
He glanced around and saw that the round table dinner was complete. The only place left was occupied by Amanda Williams. She kept glancing at Curtis at intervals.
"Trust me, when I say I’ll take care of your guest"Lisa assured, a roaring fury being suppressed within her. She was going to interrogate that woman before sending her away from her son.
As long as she’s alive, she’ll never let her son experience the pain of betrayal anymore. He’d endured and bore it alone but she wouldn’t let him go through it again.
And that’s why she’d work hard all these months to bring Amanda Williams close to him. Finally they’re meeting at a family dinner", from this moment, she’ll only work harder to get Amanda and her son bonded.
Curtis nodded. He ate and when he was through, his parents urged him to take a walk around the garden with Amanda. It’s been a while since he last visited the house or got to the garden.
It would be nice if he could get some fresh fruits and exercise around it. And Amanda will be there to accompany him after all, Laura seemed busy with her baby.
"No mom. I have Lara here. I should walk around with her instead" Curtis refused. She couldn’t join them for dinner because Amanda took the only seat left.
And now, he’ll leave her and walk with Amanda round the garden and plucking fruits, while the woman carrying his child is left unattended to?
"I don’t know any stranger by that name and I couldn’t let just anyone walk around my property, Curtis. You either walk around with Amanda or you walk alone" Lisa stuttered.
He has no idea how much she felt the impulsions to have that woman thrown out. No more toiling with her son’s emotions by any woman.
"Then I don’t need to walk around then. I’ll simply spend some time with you guys and then leave" Curtis replied, a tone of finality in his words.
"Your mother and I would like to have a talk with you" Adrian informed his son. They needed to tell him what they have done and he should be ready to see Amanda Williams in a different way henceforth.
Curtis was quiet. Something isn’t right. Looks like he was invited to this dinner, to get arranged with this woman seated. He’d lost count of how many times she kept glancing at him.
She would deliberately exchange eye contact with Laura, obviously they have something up their sleeve. He’d never agreed to that suggestion and he’s not going to accept it.
"The home office would definitely be a good place for such discussion. How about we three go there" Lisa suggested.
"Yeah, that’s better. Come along son" Adrian ordered. At this time, Curtis was tapping the table gently with his middle finger. An indication that he was getting upset already and his family knows that.
He stared coldly at his parents and stood up. He shouldn’t refuse them before a guest. He shouldn’t appear disrespectful towards them.
As he walked towards the home office, he sighted Lara, completely lost and immersed in her phone. Glad she’s not bored , he would join her shortly.
Amanda also stood up and said "Excuse" and went in the direction of the restroom. She’s excited. Now, his family are going to inform him that they should be engaged.
She heard the rumours that he was impotent and probably sterile but Laura debunked it. She was overly certain and convinced her that her brother was perfect.
She didn’t know where the media got those lies and fabricated falsehood from but her brother was perfectly fine and she knew some casual relationship he’d been into in the past.
Now, she talked to her parents about her and the two families had a discussion over it. Only Curtis needs to be informed and his acceptance to get engaged.
"Do you think dad and mom are doing the right thing by trying to pair Amanda with Curtis?" Fred asked in a whisper. He’d never been a part of this whole shit of arrangement.
Curtis is a celebrity, a public figure and one of the outstanding young billionaires in the country. Is he suddenly so lacking in women that his family has to arrange a woman for him?
Or are they recounting his past? Everyone knows later that his ex fiance never loved him. She loved his friend and that’s what happened. Why this arrangement and pairing for heaven’s sake.
"Yeah, it’s a good idea Fred. Mom and Dad are only trying to help their son out. The family needs an heir, Curtis is still drooling from the betrayal of the past and he doesn’t have time for women ever since.
We can’t jeopardise our family future and happiness because he’s not able to love another woman and produce an heir. We love him and only want the best for him.
What we should be worried about is will Curtis see through our hearts, see our love and the motives behind the arrangement? Will he put his ego and pride away and accept Amanda Williams as his future wife?" Laura stuttered.
Fred just stared at his wife as she spoke. This is not right? They’re only making Curtis feel as if he couldn’t make a choice of a woman anymore.
He might have loved the wrong woman, but that doesn’t mean he isn’t going to be lucky the next time. He doesn’t like these moves the family are making at all and his wife is being a part of the whole shit going on.
