Chapter 519: Escape to Heaven

The sandglass did not explode.

When the countdown ended, a projection of a monkey beating a drum appeared on the sandglass, emitting a peculiar, cackling laughter.

In the corridor outside the studio, the crowded onlookers witnessed the scene and breathed a sigh of relief.

"We’re still broadcasting!"

"Cut the signal, damn it, the Generals’ embarrassed faces are being broadcasted!"

"The camera has been turned to the outside! The White Ghost is attempting to escape, and a fierce chase is underway!"

"Showing himself was a mistake, even if he can escape from the building under these conditions, how could he possibly escape from the surface?"

"Yes, he should have difficulty escaping."

The three Generals exchanged glances, and under the glow of the emergency lights, each revealed a slight smile.

Gradually, the hallway was filled with gentle light, the emergency lighting switched to normal, and the building’s power supply was restored. Hundreds of large fixed screens on the exterior of the building simultaneously lit up with startup screens.

"Where’s Mr. Hui?"

Someone in the crowd outside the studio suddenly asked.

Many instinctively looked around.

The secondary protagonist of this live broadcast was now nowhere to be seen, neither inside nor outside the studio.

Near the top floor of the studio, in a safety passage.

Yang Ming quickly climbed the stairs with agile movements, ascending more than a dozen floors without even gasping for breath.

Turning around, with only the last few steps left to the rooftop, Yang Ming, as Hui Saka, revealed a light, faint smile, and a gleam appeared in his eyes.

"Hui!"

Suddenly, a low growl came from the side, a Light Bullet grazing past Hui Saka’s cheek, leaving a dark mark on the wall.

At some point, the door to the adjacent stairwell had been pushed open. Captain Griss was holding a laser rifle, aiming at Hui Saka’s head.

Behind him were several Transformed Soldiers, sternly prepared.

Yang Ming, as Hui Saka, frowned. "What are you doing, Captain Griss? We’re on the same side."

"Yes, we were, until tonight," Griss’s eyes narrowed slightly, "Captain Hanton."

"What do you mean?" Yang Ming was full of confusion.

Griss spoke softly, "Then explain to me, why are you here? For the particle transport, right? Particle transport requires an open area, doesn’t it?"

Yang Ming spread his hands: "I think you must be misunderstanding something; I am Hui Saka."

"The one who just jumped down is a decoy!"

Griss growled:

"With holographic imaging, you could do that, or use a body double, or even a high-grade robot. All you need to do is send a fake White Ghost into a crowd dressed in the same get-up. They chase after those people and end up with nothing, which diverts most of their attention.

"Because the real White Ghost, amidst the chaos in the studio, has already swapped clothes and appearances with you! You’ve switched identities!

"That’s your escape route!"

"I truly admire your imagination," Yang Ming clicked his tongue lightly, "That chaos lasted only a few seconds."

"For you, that was enough!"

Griss growled:

"I’ve always reminded myself, the White Ghost possesses technology beyond our current stage, just like your face. You used stuffing undetectable by current instruments, right? Hui Saka is the White Ghost, Hui Saka is Hanton, Captain Hanton!"

Yang Ming’s lips twitched slightly.

He laughed, "Where’s the evidence?"

"You ran up here from below; are you even a little out of breath? Isn’t that evidence enough?"

Griss spoke rapidly:

"From the first moment I saw you, I had a hint of suspicion, and as I continued to interact with you, that suspicion didn’t fade but grew.

"Tell me you’re Hui Chuanlin, yes, I’ve looked up all the data on that company, tracked down every move of Hui Chuanlin, and found no flaw whatsoever. Yet the complete lack of flaws has become the biggest flaw.

"How could an ordinary wealthy playboy perfectly cover up that part of his life, transitioning to the private life of Hui Saka? How much energy would it take to make a full suite of changes to the Empire’s records? You could tell me you bribed various record-keeping agencies, but there would inevitably be traces.

"Only the White Ghost, until now, has such technology and control over networks!"

"Ts," Yang Ming scoffed lightly, "You’re really not easy to fool."

"It’s not that I am hard to fool," Griss’s Adam’s apple quivered, "becoming another person out of thin air is just impossible in today’s societal system!"

Yang Ming laughed, "But can you stop me?"

Griss grimaced, "Finally, you’re willing to admit it."

"Not bad," Yang Ming looked up at the iron door, "Catherine, Bryant, and her squad, they’re all waiting behind it, aren’t they? I can sense Catherine’s strong fluctuations."

Griss nodded slowly.

"They haven’t shown up yet; there’s still a chance to turn things around," Griss spoke softly, "You’ve already accomplished it, you’ve negotiated with the Empire, and the military has already expressed their stance; they’ll help you!"

Yang Ming said, "The person who can truly decide whether to confine me for research has yet to speak."

Griss yelled, "You can’t make the top echelons of the Empire personally promise you anything!"

"Then I can never be sure of my safety," Yang Ming said, "Trust should be mutual."

"You are the weaker party; the weaker party should take more risks!"

"Enough, Griss. I have my judgment," Yang Ming breathed a gentle sigh of relief and slowly unfastened his shirt buttons, speaking in a calm voice, "After I leave, I will contact the military directly through other means and participate in their operations."
