Capítulo 902: Chapter 362: That Was Close
“Actually, it’s not so bad,” Yang Ming said with a smile, “I don’t have much sentiment for this place.”
Thomas was momentarily stunned.
The military man, who was soon to be promoted to an Imperial General, gazed into Yang Ming’s eyes, seemingly trying to discern something.
“General, can you teach me how to command a battleship?”
“Follow me,” Admiral Thomas replied with a confident smile, “Even though I can’t teach you how to board-ship combat, commanding a fleet is my area of expertise. In the first battle, you’ll stand right beside me.”
“Thank you, General.”
“It’s my honor.”
Six hours later.
The Imperial Expeditionary Ship and the New Federation Border Corps engaged in the first battle at the perimeter Administrative Star of the New Federation.
Admiral Thomas, commanding the first combat group, achieved an overwhelming victory. The New Federation lost twenty-six ships and abandoned the outer Administrative Star, retreating to the rear jump point.
Additionally, the White Ghost liked the trending term released by the military spokesperson.
…
“Has the war started?”
Director Eno turned his head and asked.
“Yes, Granduncle,” Daphne, holding the communicator, replied, “The first battle has already begun. As expected, the New Federation has withdrawn.”
Director Eno nodded: “Their intention is indeed to form an alliance.”
“Do we need to inform the front lines?”
“No, Daphne,” Director Eno removed his goggles and said with a smile, “Believe in our Empire’s soldiers. Don’t interfere from the rear, especially since we’re not responsible for the Imperial Military Department. Don’t crudely overstep commands.”
Daphne immediately nodded: “Yes, I was a bit rash.”
Director Eno asked: “Have you boarded Hanton’s ancient technology ship?”
“I accessed its virtual mapping,” Daphne replied softly.
“What are your impressions?”
“It’s more mysterious than before,” Daphne frowned and said, “The engine and Particle Transmission Machine on it are technologies we haven’t mastered yet, but in other areas, the ship isn’t particularly remarkable. It has excellent mobility, outstanding energy reserves, and an exaggerated firepower-to-volume ratio, not like something from our era.”
Director Eno picked up the tea cup beside him and took a sip.
He said, “Where do you think this battleship came from?”
“Ancient ruins?”
“And where is this ancient ruin?”
“That’s Hanton’s secret,” Daphne said with a smile, “which is why I find this guy even more mysterious.”
Director Eno sighed comfortably: “Daphne, always remember, the best control over Hanton is to make him develop feelings for you.”
“That might be difficult,” Daphne said with a look of helplessness, “He seems to dislike me.”
“It’s not you he dislikes, but he doesn’t want to face your identity and the powerful family behind you,” Director Eno said gently, “Don’t rush, take it step by step. Trust in your own charm.”
“Yes, I will try, Granduncle.”
Director Eno said, “Later, go to Lab Chamber No. 3, get that batch of Ancient God Cells, and after three more successful reports, personally deliver them to Hanton.”
Daphne looked puzzled: “Now? Do we have to give it to him?”
“Yes,” Director Eno smiled and said, “Observe his reaction, describe all his actions to me precisely, don’t use recording devices, or you might easily increase his aversion towards you.”
Daphne asked, “Are we assessing his desire for the cell batch?”
“That’s only one aspect,” Director Eno said, “The more important thing is to see if he can utilize the cell batch, to determine if he has mastered any technological methods unknown to us.”
Daphne was momentarily taken aback.
Director Eno continued slowly, “In this assassination case, the prime suspect is the New Federation, but another suspect is Hanton.”
“His ancient technology ship?” 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ𝓋𝑒𝑙.𝑐𝘰𝑚
“Yes, we had already gathered data on his ship. We discovered his Particle Transmission and sub-light speed engines a while back. These come from a quasi-level 4 civilization’s technology.
“So after the assassination attempt erupted, I quickly suspected him.
“If he resisted handing over his ship’s data, I would eradicate him at all costs, but he handed over the data, even wrestling with a sense of guilt over the war… He’s quite fascinating.”
Director Eno clicked his tongue and leaned back in his chair, eyes glinting with a sparkle.
He said slowly, “However, by turning over the ship’s data, he cleared himself of suspicion. The materials science used in his ship was inferior to those liquid robots. That’s normal; no civilization develops comprehensively in all areas. Every civilization has its standout features.”
Daphne asked, “If it was indeed him, what would his purpose be?”
“To incite war between the Empire and the New Federation. That can only be his purpose. I’m merely suggesting he’s suspicious. The force hidden behind him is our investigation’s next focal point.”
Director Eno exhaled gently:
“Don’t worry, if I dared to cultivate him, I naturally am confident of keeping him in check.
“He’s a Pioneer. When his home planet’s civilization reaches Imperial territory, he will lose all room to negotiate with us.
“No matter how strong an individual may be, they’re ultimately just a super soldier.”
