Accidentally Yours, My Super Rich Second Husband-Chapter 151: Plan
Delphinia sat cross-legged on the bed, her fingers gripping the crumpled paper in her hands.
Delphinia stared down at the paper in her hands, her grip tightening as if that would somehow change what was written on it.
She remembered clearly the first time she saw this invitation—how she had stepped on it that day, barely sparing it a glance as it lay discarded on the floor. She hadn’t even picked it up at first. Just stood there, staring at the elegant lettering, the names, the date.
And yet, here she was now, holding it in her hands as if it were something fragile.
She stared at the invitation for a moment longer before exhaling sharply and tossing it onto the bed beside her. "How ridiculous," she muttered under her breath.
Just then, the bedroom door swung open, and Evander stepped inside, loosening his tie as he walked toward her. His sharp gaze immediately caught sight of the wrinkled paper at her side. "What’s that hideous thing beside you?" he asked, arching a brow as he shrugged off his jacket.
Delphinia scoffed, picking it up again before throwing it in his direction. "Kai and Adalaine’s wedding invitation."
Evander caught it effortlessly, unfolding it with a flick of his wrist. His eyes skimmed the words before he let out a low chuckle. "Oh, I almost forgot about this."
Evander turned the invitation over in his hands, amusement glinting in his sharp gaze. "You know," he mused, "I clearly remember you stomping on this thing when it first arrived."
Delphinia felt her face heat up immediately. She crossed her arms, looking away as if that would somehow erase the memory. "Yeah, well," she muttered, "I wasn’t exactly thrilled to receive it at the time."
He smirked, clearly enjoying her embarrassment. "I can still picture it," Evander replied, walking over to sit beside her. He placed the invitation on the nightstand, treating it as if it were nothing more than a useless piece of paper. "This trash has always been predictable. Did you really think he wouldn’t rush to marry her?"
Delphinia exhaled through her nose, leaning back against the pillows. "I suppose not. But still, I... I don’t know. It’s strange seeing it in front of me."
Evander turned his gaze to her, studying her expression. "And how do you feel about it?"
Delphinia hesitated. How did she feel? Angry? No. Jealous? Absolutely not. Sad? Maybe, but not in the way people might assume. She wasn’t sad about losing Kai—she had never truly had him to begin with. What saddened her was how easily she had been discarded, how her years of marriage had amounted to nothing more than a contractual obligation that could be replaced with a mere change of names on a wedding invitation.
She sighed. "I don’t feel much, to be honest. It’s just... strange."
Evander hummed, his fingers trailing absentmindedly along her arm. "You know, you have that look in your eyes."
Delphinia turned to him, frowning. "What look?"
"That look that says you’re thinking too much about something that doesn’t deserve your time." He smirked, leaning closer until their noses nearly brushed. "Tell me, Delphinia. Do you regret it? Leaving him?"
Delphinia’s lips parted slightly, as if the question had caught her off guard. But she quickly composed herself and shook her head. "Not even for a second."
Evander grinned, satisfied with her answer. "Good. Because if you did, I’d have to remind you why your life is much better now."
Delphinia rolled her eyes, shoving his shoulder lightly. "Oh, please."
Evander chuckled before glancing back at the invitation. He tapped it with his finger. "So, are you planning to go?"
Delphinia’s eyes widened slightly, her lips curving into a mischievous smile. "Why? Can’t I?"
Evander tilted his head. "You’re asking as if I’d actually stop you."
"Would you?" she asked, genuinely curious.
He smirked. "Of course not. In fact, I’d be rather disappointed if you didn’t want to go."
Delphinia blinked, tilting her head. "You’re serious?"
Evander leaned in, brushing a stray strand of hair behind her ear. "You’re my wife, Delphinia. Did you really think I’d go alone without you?"
She let out a breathy laugh, her fingers toying with the edge of the bedsheet. "I suppose I just thought... well, considering my history with Kai, I didn’t know if you’d be okay with it."
Evander’s expression darkened slightly, his voice lowering. "Your history with him ended the moment you walked away. There’s nothing to be concerned about."
Delphinia searched his face, trying to gauge his emotions. There was no hesitation, no flicker of doubt in his gaze. He truly didn’t care about her past. She let out a soft sigh, feeling an odd sense of relief wash over her.
"You’re right," she murmured. "It’s over." 𝒇𝓻𝓮𝓮𝙬𝙚𝒃𝒏𝓸𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝓬𝓸𝒎
Evander nodded. "Good. Then it’s settled. We’ll attend together."
Delphinia bit her lip before smirking. "You seem rather excited about this."
He hummed, placing a hand on her thigh. "Why wouldn’t I be? It’s not every day I get to watch my wife look absolutely stunning while showing up to her ex-husband’s wedding."
Delphinia laughed. "Oh? So you want me to outshine the bride?"
Evander’s lips curled into a slow, dangerous smile. "Darling, you will outshine everyone there without even trying."
She felt her cheeks warm at his words, but before she could respond, Evander leaned back, a glint of mischief in his eyes. "Besides, I have a little gift for the lovely couple."
Delphinia narrowed her eyes suspiciously. "A gift?"
Evander smirked. "Let’s just say it’s something they won’t forget."
A shiver ran down her spine. "Evander... what are you planning?"
He simply kissed her forehead, his voice dripping with amusement. "You’ll see, sweetheart. You’ll see."
And just like that, Delphinia knew that whatever Evander had in mind... it wasn’t going to be good. But she couldn’t deny that a part of her was eager to find out. After all, if anyone deserved a little chaos on their big day, it was Kai and Adalaine.
