Accidentally Yours, My Super Rich Second Husband-Chapter 225: Drunken Heart
Delphinia let out a sigh, shaking her head fondly as she watched Evander shift on the bed, his brow furrowing as if even in his drunken state, he was vaguely aware of his discomfort.
She grabbed a bottle of water from the nightstand and twisted the cap off. "Evander," she said gently, nudging his shoulder. "You need to drink some water."
He let out a low groan, burying his face deeper into the pillow. "Mmm. No."
Delphinia rolled her eyes. "Yes."
When he didn’t move, she reached out and ran her fingers through his hair, massaging his scalp lightly. "Come on, you’ll feel worse in the morning if you don’t."
Evander grumbled something incoherent but finally turned his head just enough for her to press the bottle to his lips. He took a few slow sips before pulling away with a sigh.
"There. That wasn’t so hard, was it?" she teased.
He only hummed in response, his eyelids already drooping again.
Delphinia stood up, heading to the bathroom to grab a damp washcloth. When she returned, she placed it against his forehead, hoping the coolness would help soothe him. His skin was warm, likely from the alcohol, and she could see the tension in his features.
"You really overdid it tonight," she murmured, mostly to herself.
As if in response, Evander shifted again, this time reaching out blindly. "Delphinia," he murmured, drawing out her name like a lovesick poet. "You’re so beautiful."
She rolled her eyes but smiled as she carefully sat him down on the mattress. "You’re just saying that because you’re drunk."
Evander gasped dramatically, gripping her hands tightly. "No! I mean it. I always mean it." His dark eyes, slightly unfocused but still burning with intensity, searched her face. "You don’t believe me?"
Delphinia chuckled as she crouched down to untie his shoes. "I believe you, but I also know you’re going to regret drinking so much in the morning."
Evander pouted. Actually pouted. It was such a rare sight that Delphinia nearly laughed out loud.
Delphinia bit her lip, holding back a grin as she stared at Evander’s rare display of cuteness. The great Evander—cool, composed, and effortlessly intimidating—was there with his lips jutted out like a sulking child.
Why, oh why, didn’t I have my phone ready for this?
She wanted to capture this moment, freeze it in time, so she could remind him later when he inevitably went back to being his usual, smug self. The world needed to see this—okay, maybe not the world, but at least their private photo album.
Letting out a dramatic sigh, she shook her head and continued untying his shoes. "You know, if you keep pouting like that, I might start thinking you’re actually adorable."
"You’re making fun of me," he accused, crossing his arms like a child. "That’s so cruel, my wife. I gave you my heart, and you laugh at me in my time of weakness."
She shook her head, working on pulling him up. "You’re so dramatic when you drink. I had no idea."
"I am not dramatic," he insisted, though the effect was ruined by the way he swayed slightly as he tried to help her remove his shirt. "I’m just... passionately expressive."
Delphinia finally got him down to just his undershirt and pants. "Come on, lay down. I’ll get you some water."
"No, stay!" He clutched her hand as she turned to leave. "What if you disappear? What if this is a dream?" His voice turned heartbreakingly soft. "I don’t want to wake up and find out I imagined you."
Her chest tightened. "Evander..."
"I used to be alone," he continued, voice slurring slightly but thick with sincerity. "I thought that was just how it was going to be. Then you came along, and now I don’t ever want to go back to before."
Delphinia’s heart clenched. She ran a gentle hand through his hair. "I’m here," she whispered. "I’m not going anywhere."
He sighed, leaning into her touch like a cat seeking warmth. "Good."
Delphinia let out a soft breath, watching as Evander nuzzled further into her touch. His usual sharpness, the effortless control he always carried, had melted away completely, leaving behind something softer, something unguarded.
So this is what he’s like when he’s drunk.
She had always wondered. Evander was careful—always the one who kept himself in check, who drank just enough to loosen up but never enough to lose himself. Tonight had been an exception, and now she was witnessing a side of him no one else probably ever had.
It was almost unfair.
She thought back to the one time she had gotten ridiculously drunk in front of him. Not just tipsy, but full-on, slurring-my-words, couldn’t-walk-straight, giggling-at-everything drunk. And, of course, Evander had been the one to take care of her. He had been smug about it, too.
Worse? He had proof.
A video. One she would never live down.
Delphinia was still lost in thought about her own drunken embarrassment when she suddenly felt a warm hand against her cheek.
She barely had time to react before Evander leaned in, pressing a soft kiss against her cheek. It was slow, lingering—almost lazy. Before she could even process it, he kissed the corner of her lips next, his breath warm against her skin.
Her heart skipped.
Then, his lips finally met hers.
It was unhurried, almost absentminded, as if he was simply following an instinct rather than making a conscious effort. But it still sent a shiver down her spine.
And just when she thought that was it, Evander tilted his head, trailing a few more kisses down her jaw, then lower—his lips brushing against the sensitive skin of her neck. The warmth of his breath, the way his lips grazed her skin, sent a rush of heat through her.
Delphinia swallowed, her hands tightening against the bedsheets.
But then—just as suddenly as it started—it stopped.
Silence.
She frowned, blinking.
Why did he—
She pulled back slightly, looking down at him—only to find his eyes closed, his breathing steady.
Asleep.
Just like that.
Delphinia’s mouth fell open in sheer disbelief.
Are you serious?!
Her fingers twitched. The urge to shake him awake was overwhelming. How dare he do that—kiss her like that—tease her like that—and then just fall asleep?!
Her eye twitched. 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮
"Tch. Just wait until you wake up."
