After Giving Birth, All My Beast Ex-Husbands Suddenly Want Me Back-Chapter 51: Really that impressive?
Nina glanced at Yanai, then at Mino. All of her former fiancés really were quite good-looking.
"Hello, Female Nina. My name is Yanai," Yanai spoke first, stating his purpose. "A friend asked me to come and take care of you for a while."
"A friend?" Nina was puzzled. "Who asked you to come?"
She was genuinely confused. Someone capable of asking the young lord of an entire city for help—she didn’t think she had such an influential friend. The friends she had were all newly made in Stone Rock Tribe, and the original owner of this body didn’t seem to have anyone like that either.
And... could Yanai possibly know her real identity?
Mino was also confused. His instincts told him the one who’d made the request was a male—and someone extremely close to Nina.
"Well... he asked me to keep it confidential for now," Yanai answered vaguely.
That only deepened Nina’s confusion. Who could it be? Surely not her trashy biological father?
"Is it a family member?" Nina probed.
Yanai thought for a moment. "You could say that."
They even had a cub together—counting as family didn’t seem wrong.
Nina grew more suspicious. This vague answer suggested it had nothing to do with her father. It also felt like Yanai didn’t know her true background yet. She decided she’d test the waters later.
Sal let out a low growl at Yanai, warning him not to say too much.
Yanai covered his mouth and coughed lightly. "Little female, I really can’t reveal more. Just know that I’m not a bad male—I’m here to help you, not harm you."
The unknown benefactor still made Nina a little wary.
That said, since Yanai was Mino’s friend, she didn’t feel outright resistant toward him.
No one spoke for a moment, and the atmosphere grew awkward.
Seeing it was almost time for Nina to eat, Mino asked gently, "Nina, what would you like to eat later? I’ll cook."
"Hmm... braised spare ribs and shredded pork with fish-fragrant sauce," Nina said.
"Alright."
Mino committed it to memory and immediately got to work with practiced ease.
Yanai stared, dumbfounded.
Is this really the Mino I know?
He actually knew how to cook? Back then, even when females begged him just to grill some meat, he’d refused outright. And now he was cooking full dishes?
Wasn’t Mino the one who looked down on househusbands the most? Had his soul been swapped?
"Mino... you—you’re cooking?" Yanai asked in disbelief.
"Yes. Can’t you tell?" Mino didn’t even look up as he carefully washed the meat. "Don’t just stand there like an idiot. Come help."
Yanai then looked toward Sal.
He saw Sal obediently allowing the little female to decorate him with all sorts of colorful trinkets, dressing him up like a butterfly without the slightest resistance. From time to time, Sal even affectionately licked Nina.
Is this really that ruthless, cold-blooded rogue beast leader who killed without blinking?
Yanai’s gaze slowly shifted back to Nina, and he took a horrified step backward.
This little female is terrifying.
She had somehow tamed two proud, powerful males into this state. He vowed then and there to keep his distance from her—he absolutely did not want to end up like them.
"What are you still standing around for?" Mino urged. "Come help. If you’re here to take care of Nina, don’t be lazy."
Yanai snapped back to his senses. "Got it. What do I do?"
"Cut this meat," Mino instructed. "Slice it into thin shreds. I’ll handle the rest."
"All of it?" Yanai stared at the pile of meat on the table.
"Yes, all of it. Nina sometimes eats quite a lot—we need to make enough."
Mino took out several ribs and neatly severed them with his ability.
"But wouldn’t cutting it into big chunks be easier? Why shred it?" Yanai didn’t understand. Shredded meat wasn’t satisfying to eat, and it was terrible for roasting—it burned too easily.
"Just cut it the way I told you. Stop talking so much," Mino said impatiently. "It’s not even for you."
"Fine, I’ll cut it," Yanai sighed, resigned, and picked up a beast-bone knife.
When Mino finished prepping the ribs and glanced over, he almost exploded. "You call this shredding? These pieces are huge—how is Nina supposed to eat them? Cut them again. Each piece into ten parts. And don’t make them so long—one-third the length."
"Ten parts?" Yanai muttered. "You don’t even cut food this fine for feeding cubs... Raising a female is really troublesome."
Grumbling aside, he still cut the meat carefully.
"Faster," Mino shot him a look. "Don’t let Nina go hungry."
"Yes, yes," Yanai sighed and sped up.
Once the cutting was done, Mino began marinating the meat.
Yanai watched, baffled. "What are you putting on it? The smell’s strange."
"Seasonings. That’s how it tastes good when stir-fried," Mino replied, mixing the meat with chopsticks.
"What’s seasoning? And why stir-fry meat?" Yanai asked curiously.
Mino hadn’t wanted to explain, but then thought—if Yanai learned, he could cook for Nina when Mino was late from hunting.
So he patiently said, "Seasonings enhance flavor. As for stir-frying, you’ll see soon. You should learn too—you’ll be cooking in the future. Watch and learn."
"Why do I have to cook? I don’t know how!" Yanai protested.
"You’re here to take care of Nina. If I’m not around, what do you expect her to eat?"
Yanai frowned. "Alright."
After all, he owed Sal a favor. Cooking couldn’t be that hard.
He began learning seriously, watching closely and asking questions nonstop.
"What’s that you added?"
"Oil."
"And this white thing? It smells good."
"Garlic."
...
When the dishes were finally done, Yanai swallowed hard at the aroma. "Mino, why does your cooking smell so good? Who taught you all this?"
"Nina did," Mino said proudly. "She’s incredibly smart."
"That’s impossible. What female knows how to cook?" Yanai didn’t quite believe it.
"Hmph, that just means you’re ignorant. Nina not only cooks—she knows a lot of things."
Mino plated the dishes.
"She’s really that impressive?" Yanai remained skeptical. He felt Mino was just biased because he liked Nina.
"Bring the dishes to the table. I’ll go get Nina," Mino said.
He went inside. Nina had gone in earlier to rest after playing.
Nina sat down at the table. Mino handed her chopsticks and served her rice.
Yanai stared at the food, openly drooling.
Seeing that, Nina felt a bit awkward eating alone. "Are you hungry? Do you want to eat too?"
There was too much food anyway—she couldn’t finish it all.
Yanai nodded immediately. Nina asked Mino to get him utensils.
Mino shot Yanai an annoyed look but still handed him a bowl and chopsticks.
Yanai held the chopsticks awkwardly. "How do I use these?"
"I’ll show you," Nina said, demonstrating.
Mino had expected to enjoy a laugh, but Yanai figured it out after just two tries, leaving Mino doubting himself.
He and Aji had taken ages to learn—how did this guy pick it up instantly?
Yanai picked up a piece of meat and put it into his mouth. His eyes narrowed in bliss.
It was really delicious.
I should learn properly from Mino, he thought. Then I could eat like this every day.
After satisfying his craving with a few bites, Yanai set his chopsticks down. "Mino, why did you come all the way here?"
In his memory, Mino disliked traveling far. Yanai was genuinely curious why he’d come to such a distant wasteland.
