Chapter 160: Chapter 160: Stealing the Evidence

I turned my head to look outside the car window and saw Ivan Underwood’s car parked beside mine.

"Why are you here?" I couldn’t help but ask.

"Handling the discharge." Henry Preston replied coldly.

Is Azure Vaughn ready to be discharged? I was a bit puzzled. Does that mean the surgery in Country D can proceed? 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺

Since Henry was here to handle Azure’s matters, I didn’t need to follow along. After getting out of the car, I immediately called Lane to pick me up at the hospital entrance.

"Aren’t you going up to take a look?" Ivan asked me.

I watched Henry walk into the hospital alone, feeling the strong anger radiating from him. He was deliberately ignoring Ivan and me.

"I don’t make it a habit to visit my rival in love. You should get to work." I replied.

"Once Azure’s discharge is handled, they should head to Country D for a second transplant, and Henry will accompany them." Ivan didn’t leave but stood there with his hands in his pockets, chatting with me.

I had already guessed that. Henry promised me that once the surgery was complete, he wouldn’t stop me from taking revenge on Azure. I’m waiting for that day to arrive.

"Yes, I know. You should get to work, don’t let me delay you." I waved to Ivan with a nonchalant smile.

Ivan hesitated, his cool eyes flickering for a moment before extinguishing. He nodded and then walked into the hospital.

I waited alone at the entrance for Lane to arrive. Unexpectedly, before that, Walter Vaughn and Laura Lawson arrived first.

Walter had been discharged but looked weaker than before. The couple appeared serious, and when they saw me at the hospital entrance, they exchanged a glance filled with a bit of caution.

"Miss Hathaway, what are you doing here?" Laura greeted me.

She had contacted me several times using a strange number, but I quickly hung up each time.

"Waiting for someone." I answered simply.

Laura nodded, and suddenly Walter clutched his chest with a pained expression. She hurriedly reached out to support him, calling out to me, "Miss Hathaway, please help. I can’t hold him alone!"

I hesitated for a moment but still went over to help support Walter.

"The heart occasionally hurts now, but it’s nothing serious." After a moment, Walter sighed and said.

"Thank you, Miss Hathaway." Laura thanked me, and then the couple quickly went into the hospital. I didn’t think much of it and continued waiting for Lane at the entrance.

The car arrived, and I got in. When Lane saw me wearing men’s clothes, he looked surprised but didn’t ask. His quiet nature was typical of him.

I slept with my eyes closed after getting into the car. Although I had slept last night, the quality of sleep wasn’t good due to being drunk. I felt tired after waking up and dozed off again unknowingly.

When Lane woke me up, we were already at my doorstep. I touched my pocket to check the time, only to find my phone missing!

"It’s strange, where’s my phone?" A bad feeling flashed through my mind, and I immediately searched the seat, but my phone wasn’t there.

"Miss Hathaway, I haven’t seen you with a phone since you got in the car." Lane informed me.

I suddenly remembered Laura and Walter. Could my phone have fallen when I was helping Walter?

Or could someone have stolen it?

An awful thought crossed my mind. I almost didn’t hesitate to tell Lane to drive me back to the hospital. My phone must have been taken by Laura and Walter!

Laura had heard the recordings on my phone and must have told Azure. Azure would find a way to destroy my phone, which made perfect sense.

When I rushed back to the hospital, I discovered Azure had already been discharged, leaving half an hour ago, with Laura and Walter nowhere to be found.

"They should have gone to the airport." Ivan informed me. He noticed I seemed anxious and asked, "What’s wrong? Didn’t you say you don’t visit romantic rivals?"

I indeed don’t have that habit, but my phone is likely with Azure now.

I asked Ivan, "Where’s your phone? Let me borrow it."

Ivan promptly unlocked his phone and handed it to me. I entered my own number and dialed it.

After a few rings, the call was disconnected. This situation further confirmed my earlier suspicions. I just didn’t expect Laura and Walter to help their daughter do such a shameless thing.

Don’t they know who’s truly at fault?

I directly called Henry’s number. He answered but clearly didn’t know what had happened.

"Where’s Azure?" I suppressed my anger and asked as calmly as possible.

"If there’s anything, talk to me." Henry’s words were undoubtedly protecting Azure. Even if he didn’t know why I was looking for Azure, he stood in the way, afraid I’d upset his precious flower.

Then I heard Azure’s soft and innocent voice beside him, "Mr. Preston, is Miss Hathaway looking for me?"

Henry replied, "Yes, we can discuss it later."

"It’s okay. We’re almost at the airport. Let me clarify with Miss Hathaway. Otherwise, I won’t have peace of mind." Azure replied softly.

Now that she’d taken my phone, she was probably feeling secure. Unfortunately for her, she missed one crucial step — I’d already sent the recordings to Ryan Rhodes and Joel Sutton.

My current urgency was fueled by anger. Azure and her family’s actions made me feel utterly disgraceful!

I hung up and called Silas Lockwood. I wanted to know which airport Henry and Azure were departing from. Although he no longer trusted Azure, he surely knew about these arrangements.

Silas did know. After confirming the airport, I returned the phone to Ivan. "All right, thanks."

"I’ll go with you," Ivan stopped me.

"Sure, that’s fine." I responded bluntly. Since Azure was bent on self-destruction, I wouldn’t hold back. If Henry learned everything and still sought revenge on me, so be it.

On the way to the airport with Ivan, I uploaded the article Ryan had written for me, along with the backed-up recordings online.

I wasn’t sure if Henry would see them immediately, but he’d notice eventually.

At the airport, I headed straight to the VIP lounge.

"Why are you here?" When Henry saw me, his expression turned sour. He glanced at Azure with a hint of worry in his eyes.

"Miss Hathaway must be here to see me off." Azure, now full of confidence, smiled. Laura, Walter, and Fern Tate were with her; even Jason Forrest was there, as if they were all revolving around her.

Laura and Walter avoided eye contact with me.

I ignored Henry and went straight to Azure. "Where’s my phone?"

"Miss Hathaway, what are you talking about? Your phone? I don’t understand." Azure feigned innocence.

"You knew I had dirt on you, so you specifically asked your parents to seize the chance to steal my phone to destroy those files, right?" I laid it all out, my words carrying a threat. "You’d better return it now, or you’ll regret it."

Even if she returned it, it was too late. I just wanted to provoke Azure.

Henry pulled me aside slightly, his tone harsh, "Zoe Hathaway, have you forgotten what you promised me?"

"Of course not, but I can’t do it!" Henry protecting Azure pushed me over the edge, causing my emotions to spiral out of control. "Henry, you’re truly blind, a fool. You’re being played!"

After my outburst, Henry’s expression turned even darker; no one dared to speak to him like that.

"Zoe Hathaway, are you crazy?!" Fern Tate couldn’t help but step forward to scold me. "You and Henry have been divorced for a long time. Aren’t you embarrassed to keep pestering him?"

She wasn’t just insulting me; she even charged at me, intending to get physical. However, Ivan quickly blocked her. "What do you think you’re doing?"

"Ivan, why are you protecting her now?" Fern angrily questioned.

"You can interpret it however you want, but don’t think of laying a finger on her in my presence." Ivan’s voice was cold. He was the only one on my side then.

Henry’s face was already pale, and now, seeing Ivan stand in front of me, his anger flared even more.

Seeing the tension, Azure quickly stepped forward, looking distressed, "Stop arguing, everyone. It’s all my fault. Once my surgery is over, I’ll disappear forever. I won’t disturb any of you again, okay?"

As she said this, tears welled up, portraying extreme grievance.
