Is He Really Your Ideal Type, Junior Sister?

“Hey, did you guys hear? True Disciple Wang Yuan didn’t even eat lunch yesterday—he was so angry his face went crooked!”

“I know, I know! Apparently, he got humiliated by an inner disciple during the swordsmanship class!”

“Haha, really? Who’s bold enough to do that?”

“Someone named He Ange. My friend was there and said the new junior brother is actually pretty handsome~”

In the bustling cafeteria hall, a group of male and female disciples gathered around a table, chatting about the latest gossip from the sect.

At the center of the group, however, Xia Ranyue remained silent, looking rather uninterested.

Normally, Xia Ranyue wouldn’t even step foot in the cafeteria. She found it too crowded, the air thick with the smell of food, and the quality of the dishes mediocre at best.

But today, her close friends had invited her, and after some thought, she decided it wouldn’t hurt to join them for once. After all, always being the aloof one wasn’t ideal either. So, after her morning cultivation session, she reluctantly followed them to the cafeteria.

As expected, the moment they sat down, they became the center of attention, drawing the gazes of countless male disciples.

A few overly confident male disciples approached to strike up a conversation. Xia Ranyue had intended to brush them off with a few polite words, but to her surprise, her friends seemed to enjoy the social interaction. The boys and girls quickly fell into lively chatter, and the conversation showed no signs of stopping.

Surrounded by the noise and laughter, Xia Ranyue lost her appetite.

She propped her chin on her hand, gazing out the window in boredom.

Out of the corner of her eye, she spotted a familiar figure—a white-robed boy sitting at the far end of the hall. He had ordered nothing but a simple bowl of vegetarian noodles and was quietly eating alone in a corner.

He looked so lonely, so pitiful.

Of course, Xia Ranyue knew better. This was just He Ange’s act. She remembered all too well how he used to lure people in with his harmless demeanor, only to turn on them and drain their spiritual energy to boost his own cultivation.

That was the real He Ange.

Maybe he really was naturally quiet, but after falling victim to his schemes, Xia Ranyue had learned to be cautious. She would never trust his appearance again.

Still, she thought to herself, talking to him would be more interesting than staying trapped in this noisy crowd.

Using the excuse of getting more food, Xia Ranyue went to the counter and ordered the largest braised chicken leg they had.

She carried the chicken leg to He Ange’s table, set it down, and sat across from him. Resting her chin on her left hand, she used her chopsticks to place the chicken leg into his bowl.

“A big guy like you, eating just plain noodles?” she said.

As she spoke, she noticed the surprised look in He Ange’s eyes.

Internally, she scoffed, turning her face away with a hint of annoyance.

“Don’t get the wrong idea,” she added. “I couldn’t finish it, so I’m giving it to you. Besides, I wanted to talk to you about something.”

“Is that so? Well, thank you,” He Ange replied casually. He glanced at her briefly before picking up the chicken leg and taking a big bite.

He didn’t seem to mind her words or the fact that she claimed it was her leftovers.

Despite his casual demeanor, He Ange’s refined features made even his large bites seem elegant. Watching him eat, Xia Ranyue couldn’t help but think that he was exactly her type—though for a fox demon like her, that only meant he looked like delicious prey.

Yes, that was all it was. Nothing more.

“You clearly enjoy eating meat. Why did you only order vegetarian noodles?” she asked.

“Luxury is easy to adapt to; frugality is not,” He Ange replied simply. (tln : oh this is a nice quote)

The reasoning was straightforward. As a weak demonic cultivator, even with a powerful master like Feng Yuan behind him, he still had to live cautiously in the daylight world, not the shadows of the abyss.

In the vast Nine Provinces of Huaxia, demonic cultivators were outcasts, despised by both righteous sects and demonic sects alike.

At any moment, he could be expelled from the Shengxu Sect, hunted down as a traitor by his former senior sister, and forced to live in the gutters, struggling just to survive.

Given the precariousness of his situation, he needed to save what he could for the future.

As a fox demon and a fellow member of the “villainous” faction, Xia Ranyue understood his logic. She had considered similar scenarios herself.

However...

As the younger sister of the Fox Clan’s saintess, Xia Ranyue held a prestigious position. Even in the Shengxu Sect, she didn’t face much risk. At worst, she could always return to the Fox Clan.

“Fine, then don’t eat it. Give the chicken leg back to me,” she said, her tone teasing.

Though she understood his reasoning, his calm attitude still irked her, and she couldn’t resist poking fun at him.

He Ange looked up at her, swallowed the bite of meat in his mouth, and chuckled.

“I’ve already bitten into it. You still want it?”

With that, he held the chicken leg out to her, a playful glint in his eyes.

Xia Ranyue hesitated.

He had already bitten into it, which meant it might have his saliva on it. If she ate it now, wouldn’t that be like an indirect kiss?

But the smug look on his face annoyed her to no end. She couldn’t let him win.

“What’s the big deal?” she said, narrowing her eyes. Leaning forward, she bit off a large chunk of the chicken leg, her sharp little fangs making quick work of the meat.

He Ange looked at the now mostly bare chicken leg in his hand, a bit surprised.

When he glanced back at Xia Ranyue, he saw her cheeks puffed out, full of chicken. She looked like a chipmunk, her expression both satisfied and slightly embarrassed.

Noticing his gaze, her face turned a faint shade of red. But even so, she tilted her chin up proudly, her eyes gleaming with defiance.

“Are you a puppy? You ate the whole thing in one bite,” He Ange teased, finishing off the last bit of chicken skin before tossing the bone aside.

Xia Ranyue swallowed her mouthful of food and glared at him.

“You’re the puppy! I’m a noble fox!”

“Yes, yes. Thank you, noble Fox Senior Sister, for your generous gift of chicken bones.”

“Anyway, I wanted to ask you something,” Xia Ranyue said, shifting to a more serious tone.

He Ange straightened up, setting his bowl aside. Though they had been adversaries in the past, she had just treated him to a chicken leg, so he was willing to hear her out.

“I heard you got humiliated by True Disciple Wang Yuan during the swordsmanship class yesterday. Is that true?”

“What, are you here to laugh at me?”

“Do I look like someone with such low tastes?”

Xia Ranyue wanted to strangle him. He clearly had emotional intelligence, but he always seemed to enjoy saying things that annoyed her.

Crossing her arms, she turned her face away.

“When I heard you were being bullied, I thought about comforting you. But then I found out this morning that Wang Yuan was so angry he nearly passed out. That was your doing, wasn’t it?”

“It wasn’t me. I didn’t do anything.”

“If not you, then who?”

“You already know the answer. Why are you asking me?”

He Ange raised an eyebrow, giving her a bored look before returning to his noodles.

Xia Ranyue fell silent, unsure of what to say. In the end, she simply sat there, watching him eat.

At some point, their interaction caught the attention of others in the hall. A small crowd began to gather, their curiosity piqued.

“Hey, isn’t that the new junior brother who made a splash during the swordsmanship class yesterday?”

“So that’s He Ange? He’s quite good-looking.”

“Does he know Junior Sister Ranyue? They seem pretty familiar.”

Among the murmuring crowd, a green-robed male disciple stepped forward. He looked at He Ange with a mix of surprise and amusement before turning to Xia Ranyue.

“Junior Sister Ranyue, is this the ‘ideal type’ you’ve been talking about?”
