Alpha's Lost Luna Returns With His Twins-Chapter 119-He Is So Shameless
Iris:
Imagine you are getting defeated left and right.
You have only met disappointment so far, and then you return home to find your mother sitting on the couch, stirring more trouble for you.
"So, what did he say?" my mother asked, tapping her fingers on the couch’s armrest.
She had sat me down the moment I walked in, not even letting the kids spend more time with me before sending them back to their rooms.
"I didn’t speak with him," I stated, and my mother’s frown deepened.
"Why not?" she questioned.
I wondered if she was so bad at reading faces that she could never tell what her daughter was going through, enough to stop asking questions that already made me uncomfortable.
"By the time I got ready to speak with him, I realized he had already left," I lied, and my mother rolled her eyes.
"Well, then you are going to go and speak with him now. He must have come back. He must be home by now," my mother remarked, and I began to grunt.
"I just came back after a long day outside. Let me spend some time with my kids, then I’ll play games for you," I snapped, rising from the couch.
"You are not stepping away from me like that," my mother warned, but I did not care.
I left and went into my children’s room. Spending time with them felt good.
"Mommy, is Daddy going to come home today?"
The moment I entered, my kids began asking questions about him.
That was the part that hurt the most. I could never be free of his shadow, and that worried me even more.
What would happen when I finally left? Would my kids forget about him?
Would they keep asking me nonstop where their father was? Would they hate me when they grew up?
"Mommy?"
Colin approached me and gently placed his hand on the back of mine.
I had been sitting on his bed, staring into the distance.
"It’s okay. You don’t have to answer us. We will spend time with you, even if he doesn’t come home today," Colin whispered, always so thoughtful.
"But we can go and play with our Aunt Zoe," Amy added, jumping up and down on her bed.
The second I heard Zoe’s name, I snapped myself out of my thoughts.
"No!" I snapped, and Amy instantly stopped jumping.
She looked offended right away, the way any child does when someone raises their voice at them.
I noticed the way Amy’s face changed when I snapped at her.
I had not wanted to, but today’s events and everything happening around me had pushed me into becoming toxic.
Her small shoulders stiffened and she looked down at her feet. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝓮𝒘𝙚𝙗𝒏𝙤𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝒐𝙢
My heart skipped a beat and guilt took over me.
I stood from Colin’s bed, stepped to hers, and sat down.
I held her hand and guided her into my lap. When she settled, I gently brushed her hair away from her cheek.
"It is okay, sweetheart," I murmured. "I didn’t mean to speak like that. I only meant that Aunt Zoe is busy too. I don’t want you and Colin going there and bothering her all the time." I tried to make up an excuse.
Amy lifted her eyes a little, but it was Colin who came toward me again and placed his hand on my knee.
"It’s fine, Mommy," he whispered. "We can play here too. It’s okay. We don’t have to play with the others. You are enough for us."
He was always this way, reminding me that I had him. He was so thoughtful, almost like a guard for me at such a young age.
"Good. Then keep playing, okay? I’ll go and freshen up," I told them, rising from the bed after setting Amy down.
As I stepped out of the room and walked toward the living room, I saw Luca entering from outside.
The moment our eyes met, I rolled my eyes to show him I was tired of running into him. I headed straight to my room.
Inside, I grabbed a towel and went into the bathroom. The shower was quick but enough to calm the tension in my muscles.
When I stepped out, I pulled on gray pants and a gray hoodie, tying the strings a little tighter than needed.
The moment I opened the door and stepped back into my room, I froze. Luca was sitting on the couch. His expression was not playful this time.
"Why do you always roll your eyes when you look at me?" he asked with genuine curiosity, not teasing me.
"That is because looking at you makes me tired," I replied, hoping to hurt his feelings.
"Well, I think your opinion of me will change the minute I have a crown of an alpha to wear."
The moment he brought that up again, my gaze shifted to him.
I did not know if he was truly that unaware to not realize that this was the main reason I kept my distance.
I chose not to respond, but him mentioning it again was a clear reminder that he was not someone I should trust.
That was when Scarlett knocked on the open door.
"Yes, Scarlett?" I asked, assuming she was coming to tell us breakfast was ready since it was early morning.
"Alpha King Kash is here."
The moment she said his name, I felt my color change, and I could tell even Luca noticed.
I stared at Scarlett for a few seconds before stepping out of the room to see what Kash was here to do now.
If he planned to give me excuses, it was too late.
But the moment I reached the living room, instead of finding a distraught, guilty Kash, I saw a confident man dressed in all black, freshly showered, his arms resting wide as he held up a box of herbs.
That was when I realized he had not come here to explain himself to a foolish woman who could not move on from him.
He had come here to give his son another dosage, even after I had told him it was not working.
