Chapter 155: 155-Nobody Is Buying My Body Anymore

Iris:

"Where is she?" he asked in a thunderous voice.

"No. Do not tell her. She will hurt me and my children," I cried, and I heard him gasp again.

"Fine. I am quiet for now. But I want you all to come back to my place, because I will not allow this kind of nonsense under my ruling," he screamed.

And honestly, it gave me a little hope. I nodded my head and then cut the call, feeling like there was a little hope.

However, that was when my phone beeped again. Fear began to engulf me, thinking my father would tell me it was a joke, that he would think it was fine. But when I checked, I saw it was not my father texting me. It was Kash.

I frowned and checked his text.

Bitter Ex: Got it.

That was all he wrote with a picture attached. It was him holding his palm up. And there was a little droplet of water, shaped like a pearl, in his hand.

I kept staring at it, and then I instantly dialed his number.

"Hello," he replied a bit tiredly.

"Yayyyyy! Victory!" I heard Lara on the other side, cheering right next to him. I could tell she was happily cheering. It was fulfilling to hear that they got the cure, although a little late because so much else had happened. However, at least I would be able to get away from Kash and his toxic girlfriend.

"You did it?" I asked him, forcing the words out of my mouth after a harsh confrontation with my mother and a call with my father.

"Yeah, heading back home. I’m gonna give Colin the cure myself," he replied.

However, the minute he said that, it seemed that something cracked inside me.

"Um, would it be okay if I do it?" I asked him, swallowing anxiously.

"No, I want to do it myself. Anyway, we will be back by morning, so you should rest. Do not wait for us. We are going to have a little celebration first," he remarked very coldly as he hung up on me.

I kept staring at the screen and then I called him a few times, but he never picked up. I hated how everybody was treating me, but at least my son had the cure. Yet again, how was the cure going to work if he was going to give it directly to him? Well, that was for me to deal with in the morning. I fell asleep peacefully for the night.

I woke up early in the morning to my kids waking up and my mother in the room. I quickly showered and got ready while my mother sat on her phone, silently staring at me. I asked her a few times why she was in my room so early. She did not respond, so I realized she did not want to speak with me yet.

However, once I got out of the bathroom wearing a lavender dress and trying to do my hairstyle, my mother began to speak.

"So," she asked me, sitting behind me on the couch, but I could see her reflection in the mirror.

"So?" I asked her, noticing how my children also stopped coloring once they saw we had started to talk.

"What did Kash say last night?" she wondered. 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢

As she posed that question, I let out a small sigh of relief. I thought she was going to scold me for speaking with Dad about her.

"He got the water, but he is insisting that he will give it himself," I said without using Colin’s name so that he would not hear or understand what we were talking about.

"Well, it is fine. He can keep half of the water, and the other half he will give to me," my mother replied with a shrug. Yes, it was not a big deal to her.

"I do not think that is how it will work," I murmured, watching my mother narrow her eyes at me.

"It is in the shape of a pearl, and I saw him only have one pearl," I continued, and my mother frowned even harder.

"I do not know how to explain it, but it is like water shaped into a pearl," I explained, and my mother rolled her eyes, slamming her phone down on the couch and getting up.

"Well, then you will have to speak with him and convince him," my mother stated harshly, folding her arms across her chest.

"And how do you suppose I do it?" I asked, staring back at her and folding my arms this time as I threw the brush onto the dressing table and turned sharply.

"Kids, come outside, let’s play football," Luca announced as he arrived and noticed we were arguing, so he asked the kids to go with him.

"Luca, why don’t you come inside?" my mother began to speak, but Luca gave her a hand gesture, almost as if letting her know he did not have time.

My kids jumped off the beds and stepped away with Luca. Before leaving, he gave me a brief glance, almost as if reminding me that this was temporary.

Now I was back with my mother, who was watching my face.

"You want me to convince Kash? And how do you think I should do it?" I asked her.

Suddenly, I found my voice.

"Even if you have to—" my mother started, but she went silent because I showed her my finger.

"Even if I have to sell my body? Is that what you are trying to say?" I asked, and she groaned at me.

"Well, it is not going to work. He is over me. Entirely now. Thanks to you he watched me ask Luca to marry me."

As soon as I said that, I watched her face start to change color. I guessed this was the moment to show her that her actions could have negative consequences, just like once before.

And it seemed to affect her because her eyes started to twitch a little.
