Alpha's Lost Luna Returns With His Twins-Chapter 160-The Ring Box Without A Ring
Iris:
He had brought it in a small white ring box, and I had to open it to touch it.
It was the first time I had ever seen it. My hands shook as I gently touched it. It felt soft, almost as if it would burst into water the moment it entered someone’s mouth.
"Make sure he swallows it whole," Kash instructed. "I don’t want him to waste it or spit the water out. You only have this one pearl."
I nodded, staring at it in my hand.
"Why didn’t you get two?" my mother asked, her curiosity taking over.
Kash shoved his hands into his pockets and turned to her. I noticed the way he looked cautious around her.
"We can only get one at a time," he replied before looking back at me. "Go ahead. I want to know if it helps him."
I knew what he meant. If my son had a fit after taking it, then his body was reacting against it, and the pearl was not working.
That was because of the lie we had told him the last time, when we said the cure was not working. My mother had even woken up my brother to make it seem like his body was resisting it. Of course, the cure had not worked, but Colin was not the one who could show it. It was Wilson’s body that had proven the cure failed.
I walked into the room and closed the door.
"Okay, Colin. I’m going to give you something that will help with the fevers you sometimes get, okay?" I told him as I sat beside him on the bed. 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂
Colin only nodded. I knew it was easy to persuade him. He was not as resistant as Amy.
I walked over to the closet and tucked the ring box under my clothes. Then I went to the dressing table and took out a similar box with a popping boba inside. My mother had been clever. She had seen the picture Kash sent me and tried to replace it as best as she could. It was not exactly the same, but Colin would not be able to explain the difference.
I walked back to him and sat beside him again.
"What is this, mommy?" he asked, staring at the boba.
"It’s a pearl," I replied, quickly placing my hands over his eyes. "Close your eyes and just drink the water from it, okay?"
Colin nodded and opened his mouth. I placed the pearl inside, watching him close his mouth. He smiled at the texture of it, and I watched him chew it.
"It feels like boba," he remarked as he opened his eyes, and my heart sank.
"Really? Wow, that’s interesting," I replied quickly, playing along. I walked out of the room and watched everyone turn toward me, except for Amy.
Colin rushed out, jumping up and down, then sat on the couch beside Kash, who stared at him with wide eyes.
"I think it worked," I stated, taking a deep breath and playing the part my mother had asked me to play.
"He didn’t show any reaction?" Kash questioned and I shook my head.
"No, he seemed pretty fine," I replied.
"Well, we’ll give it a day," Kash said as he adjusted on the couch.
"And Daddy, do you know? It was like a pearl," Colin started.
Of course, by the end of the day, he was still a child. He was bound to talk about it.
"Really? Well, it was just a little candy for you," Kash remarked but Colin quickly shook his head.
"No, it wasn’t. Mommy said it was for my sickness."
As soon as Colin said that, Kash snapped his head toward me. I did not understand why he suddenly looked so cautious, but my mother noticed it right away. She glared at me as if I had made a mistake.
"You weren’t supposed to tell him what it was for. It won’t work like that," Kash complained, almost grunting at me with his eyes.
"Of course, he’s a child. He doesn’t remember, correctly. I told him it was a boba at first and later I—" I replied. "I told him afterward."
I lied. I remembered him telling me the cure would not work if I did not explain it. I had told Colin it was boba.
"It was a boba, right, Colin?" I asked.
Colin thought about it for a moment. Of course, he had forgotten that he was the one who said it tasted like boba.
"Yes, Daddy. It was a boba," Colin replied, jumping up and down.
Kash relaxed slightly.
"Wait, I want a boba too. Why did Mommy give him boba?" Amy complained.
"Don’t worry. I’ll ask Walkin to get you both boba tea, okay?" Kash said, gently tapping her cheek with affection.
"Daddy, where are you going?" Colin asked.
Amy climbed onto her knees on the couch and cupped her father’s face in her small hands. I noticed the way Kash smiled at her, full of love and affection, as if he truly enjoyed their company."Your father has to go and get ready for the wedding. He is getting married tomorrow," my mother said, sounding excited, as if her own daughter were getting married.
"Oh, we bought such pretty dresses for your wedding, Daddy," Amy said.
Kash remained quiet. He kept glancing at me now and then, and I suspected my mother noticed it too.
"Okay, now, now, let’s not bother your father anymore," my mother said, gently tapping Amy’s back to move her aside so Kash could leave.
As expected, Kash stood up. He turned around and looked me straight in the eye. The eye contact between us was enough to suggest this would be the last time we looked at each other without someone else standing between us.
He had been cautious around my mother lately, and I did not blame him. My mother was unpredictable.
"Okay then, I’ll see you all tomorrow," Kash announced.
Everyone nodded as he stepped out of the guest house.
My mother rushed toward me, almost as if I were about to run away with the cure.
"Where is it?" she asked.
