Chapter 185: 185-An Unusual Guest At My Wedding

Iris:

I stood at the stage, watching everyone look at us. There was the same look on almost everyone’s face.

Nobody seemed satisfied. It was as if every single person there had been dragged in against their will.

I had gathered some information from the warriors and the maids. They all claimed that if they did not obey, Wilson would go crazy, and that he would not stop until he had shed a lot of blood.

They said that some of their family members were missing. Some people were also afraid that even a bullet would not be able to affect Wilson.

I closed my eyes, then opened them, taking a deep breath.

As Wilson approached Luca, he gestured for the gunman behind him to step away. Wilson then grabbed Luca by the arm and forced him to stand.

Luca had blood on his shirt and on his face as well. It looked as if they had beaten him.

There were not many visible injuries, but the presence of blood showed that they had gotten physical with him.

Wilson then led Luca down the aisle. He approached the stage and gently pushed Luca in front of me.

I felt terrible for Luca. He had been dragged into this mess because of my family issues.

"Are you okay?" I asked Luca in a whisper.

He gave me a steady but sad nod.

"I’m really sorry. I tried," he whispered, lowering his head.

"You don’t have to apologize. It isn’t your fault. None of this is," I replied, making it clear that I was not blaming or accusing him of anything.

"As all of you stand here and witness the beautiful wedding ceremony of my sister with the man I chose for her, simply because I know he is the best option, I hope you all wish her the best. I pray she never has to suffer again."

My brother took the stand, speaking as if he were the best brother ever. My mother looked proud.

However, the moment her eyes landed on her mate, she turned her face away, likely from guilt.

"Let’s begin with the beautiful reunion of two perfect souls, souls that were meant to be together for years but were separated due to poor decisions." My brother paused as he turned to me, then looked at my children.

"Now, please," my brother remarked, pointing at me and then at Luca.

Luca held his hands up, and as my head began to spin, I placed my hand in his. My entire world felt as if it were swirling around me.

"Now accept each other," my brother commented, strolling to the other side so that he faced the audience as well, standing behind us and our joined hands.

However, rejection between lycan did not mean much as long as a werewolf was not involved. This was just part of the ceremony. The main thing was the pact.

"I can, Lycan Luca, accept Iris as my mate."

As soon as Luca said that, I closed my eyes, and tears ran down my face.

Flashback.

"I, Alpha King Kash, accept the beautiful woman, my fated mate in front of me, as my mate, my wife, and my forever," Kash stated, making me giggle. "Come on, accept me back," he urged as we sat on the mattress on the rooftop, the lanterns around us lighting up the night.

"We already got married, don’t forget," I teased him.

"Yeah, but I wasn’t really into the marriage that time, so I didn’t get to cherish it much," he replied, admitting that he had not been ready when we married.

With a smile on my lips, I held his hands and responded, "I, Iris, accept the most handsome and powerful man, Kash, as my mate."

As soon as I said that, Kash started to chuckle.

"And now, the first night," he added.

As soon as he said that, I slipped from his arm, got up, and began running around the rooftop.

"Come on, come here. You cannot run away from your mate," he teased, chasing after me.

Those giggles were my life. Those were the happiest days.

End of flashback.

"Come on, sister, don’t keep everyone waiting. We have amazing food to be served too," my brother urged.

He gently pinched my elbow, and I grimaced under my breath.

"I, Iris, accept Luca as my mate," I uttered, turning my face to the other side.

As my brother clapped the crowd, they were forced to clap along with him. My mother made sure she looked at everyone, checking if anyone was defying the Lycan King.

"Of course, this was just a practice done by werewolves, and we had picked up some very strange customs from them."

My brother suddenly dismissed the moment as he gestured for James to step forward with the marriage documents. My heart began to pound harder in my chest.

"Now sign the papers and then make a blood pact," my brother instructed, stepping away so Luca’s father, James, could come forward.

However, James only handed the documents to Luca, who quickly signed them before James snatched them back.

"Come on, give it to Iris now," my brother insisted, but there was a delay from James.

"Just so you know, the Lycan community is not the same anymore," James began, causing me to turn my head toward him and glance at Wilson behind him.

"What are you talking about, James? Just hand her the papers," Wilson muttered, sounding irritated.

"I just want to have a word," James replied. "I have been a loyal servant for many years, but in the last few days, I have seen the ex Lycan King being disrespected. The Lycan Queen being held against her will, with her children taken away from her. This is not what I signed up for. So I am saying this in advance, that I am sorry. I am sorry for whatever I did."

The way he spoke made Luca suddenly grab his father’s arm.

"Father, what have you done?" Luca demanded.

I was worried as well, unsure of what was happening.

"It was my only choice. I had to let—" James paused and then looked up.

Commotion began to erupt as warriors rushed in with their weapons.

"Alpha King Kash take over."

The moment James finished, I gasped, and my head snapped toward the man appearing before me.
