Alpha's Lost Luna Returns With His Twins-Chapter 289-When Trust Is Shaking
Iris:
The next day passed entirely by shopping with Luca. He bought a lot of jewelry for Zoe, so much that I finally felt he was beginning to understand her sacrifices, how she had fought everyone to keep this relationship alive.
Otherwise, if Kash had his way, he would have separated Markus and Zoe long ago. I was in favor of that too, because until now I believed Markus did not deserve her. But now everyone would finally see how much he actually cared for her. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞
As we walked toward the car carrying several bags, Markus glanced at the items in my hands.
"I bought these for the kids too," he told me, pulling out a few extra bags.
"When did you pick these up?" I asked, confused.
"Magic," he replied with a grin.
I did not feel like joking with him at all. I was only going around with him for one reason, the surprise party. That was it. I had not forgotten the past. Sometimes it is better to stay quiet when you have nothing to say.
"Alright, thanks. Let’s go home. Kash must be there by now," I said.
"Yes, let’s go, Markus agreed, opening the door for me."
That was new.
I sat down, and we drove back home. The entire way, he kept talking about the cabins he had been looking at. The area he selected had many options, and he wanted to choose the best one for me.
He wanted the best one for Zoe, the one closest to the waterfall.
When we finally reached home and I stepped into the mansion, the first thing I noticed was Lara and Lady Vivian sitting on either side of Kash. The sight itself was disturbing. It looked as if they were filling his ears with poison.
"Hello everyone," I greeted, carrying the bags of toys for my children.
Of course, Markus did not walk in with me. We had refused to be seen together. They already hated me. If they saw us arriving together, they would think I was dragging him around.
"So this was your personal work?" Kash was the first to ask me that question.
I looked at Lara, then back at Kash. It was a silent signal to tell him that we could have this conversation in private. We did not need to sit here and discuss everything in front of them.
My expression must have been obvious, because Lady Vivian and Lara clearly understood that I wanted Kash to speak to me alone.
"Did you go out alone?" Lady Vivian asked, as if she were adding fuel to the fire.
"Yes, I went with the driver. What is the problem? Am I not allowed to go to the mall now?" I asked, knowing I sounded offended and defensive.
"It is not about going out, Iris. It is about the fact that Kash wanted you to come with him to the office. I know you want to give yourself time, which is good, but at least inform him. He loves you very much," Lara said, daring to speak in the middle of our issue.
Kash remained silent because he had nothing to say. He only watched me quietly.
I kept my eyes on him, then turned toward Lara.
"Mind your own business," I told her.
She lowered her head as if I had punched her in the stomach.
"Iris, you do not need to be hostile. She is only saying this for my sake," Kash said, defending her.
Lara’s head remained lowered, but I swear I could see a smile on her lips.
"There is no need for her to speak. I have a husband to answer to, and I do not want to have this discussion here," I said, walking away from them anxiously.
"Is this how she always humiliates you?" I heard Lady Vivian mutter.
I did not stop. I knew she was trying to provoke me, and it was working. I could feel my anger rising.
Now I was beginning to understand how much hatred they held for me. It felt as if every waking minute of their lives was spent thinking about ruining mine and my happiness.
As soon as I entered the room and sat down, my children happily took the toys from me. I felt as if the days of a storm were drawing near. I do not know why, but a deep uneasiness settled inside me.
Fighting this battle was becoming difficult. I was beginning to understand that earlier, I could stand up to Kash’s mother and Lara easily because I believed Kash was on my side. Now, this was a war I had to fight alone.
After giving the children their toys, I fed them dinner in their room. I had no mood to go outside, even though I knew I should have gone and sat with them. I simply could not do it.
That night, I went to sleep early. I knew Kash had been heavily occupied by his mother and Lara. The next day was special for Zoe. All the jewelry and gifts we had ordered for her were going to be ready.
And the day after that, she was going to be told about the surprise trip.
I kept worrying about what would happen when that day finally arrived.
When I woke up in the morning, Kash had already left for work, even before I woke up.
When I stepped out of my room, I noticed the house was empty. My children were still asleep. Feeling anxious, I walked toward the main gate.
When I reached there, I saw Lara and Lady Vivian standing in the garden with Zoe. It looked as if they were telling her something strange, because Zoe seemed deeply concerned.
Then Lara played something on her phone and showed it to her. Zoe covered both her ears and turned around.
It felt as if they were playing a big game against me, and the next stage of it had already begun.
