Chapter 320: 320-She Is A Different Kind Of A Creature

Iris:

"You think you can fool him? He’s not looking at your ugly face anymore," I hissed at her, thinking that would be enough, that defeating her would be that easy.

Then she started laughing. She began to hum something.

It was odd, stranger than before. It was creepy.

As she hummed, I watched Luca’s body stiffen. 𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒆𝙬𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝒎

I did not understand what was happening. Who was she? How did she have so many strange powers?

She had been strangely fixated on me. It did not seem like she wanted to harm Luca. Instead, she was controlling him to harm me.

"Luca, don’t... Don’t listen to her. Look at me," I said, confused by how she controlled him while I still felt fine.

Was it because she was controlling the wolves and the lycans, and mine was sleeping because I was pregnant?

"Come on, Luca. Come and stand with me," she whispered, then began to hum again.

Luca turned, looked at me, and then walked past me.

I wanted to stop him, but I noticed the hostility in his body. I was not going to touch him, knowing he might attack me.

I rushed toward the door to call the warriors for help.

The moment I stepped out of the room, I saw the warriors entering the mansion one by one, following each other’s movements like robots.

It was not hard to understand. They were in the same daze as Luca.

"What the fuck," I grunted, hurrying to my bedroom and locking the door.

I grabbed my phone with shaking hands and called Kash. He had given me one of the warriors’ numbers in case things went very wrong, and this was an emergency.

There was a creature here who was not a werewolf, and she was controlling everyone so completely that I feared what she would do to me next.

A rhythmic pounding started on my door, as if many hands were reaching to force it open.

"Come on, Kash. Answer the call," I muttered anxiously.

The moment the call connected, I fell silent when I heard his mother on the other end.

"Hello? Warrior Sebastian, is that you?" his mother responded casually.

"Hello? Did you call by accident?" she continued, and I bit my tongue.

If she heard me speak, she would not ask questions. She would not get me help. She would make sure Kash never took this call.

So I ended it.

But what was I going to do? If I did not find a way out, they would kill me.

That much was evident.

I had only one option. I had to leave my room and get away from them.

I went to the window, pushed it open, and realized there was nothing but water outside.

I looked around anxiously. The door would not hold much longer. But if I stepped into the water, I would not survive. After a few steps, it would grow deeper and deeper.

I hurried back inside and grabbed a silver dagger from the side table, just in case I needed to defend myself.

Then I climbed out of the window and stepped into the cold water.

It was freezing. The night had settled in, and that did not help.

I waded forward when I heard the door burst open.

Voices filled the room, as if too many people had come to get me.

"Find her! She must have left through the window," the woman called, her voice louder now, filled with confidence.

She no longer sounded helpless or needy.

I pushed forward with urgency when I heard one of the warriors shout, "There she is! She’s in the water!"

The moment he yelled, my heart stopped, not only because they had found me but because of the strange chuckle Irene let out.

It was the kind of sound an evil person makes when their prey is exactly where they want them.

It was too late.

I was already in the water. There was no going back, only forward if I wanted to survive.

I kept moving until the water reached my stomach.

Then I heard a loud splash, as if someone had jumped in.

I turned slightly and realized it was her.

She had never been drowning to begin with.

The water began to drag at my legs as I moved forward. I could not swim well, and having no lycan made my situation worse. Darkness had fallen, making it almost impossible to navigate through the water.

Each step felt as if I were heading nowhere. I did not know if I would reach the shore safely. Then I felt it, a strange movement around me.

It was not a fish or anything ordinary. The motion was calculated, as if someone were circling me with precision, brushing past my calf before disappearing again.

My heart slammed against my ribs as I turned in the water, trying to see through the darkness.

There was only a faint shine that I managed to catch. That shine was hair.

Long platinum blonde strands with a green sheen flowed like silk beneath the water, gleaming beautifully under the surface.

I recognized her. It was Irene, but she was not moving like a werewolf. Nor was she swimming like a human.

She was too smooth, too fluid, as if she were born to live in water.

My eyes lowered, straining to see her legs beneath the surface. They looked slightly scaly and strange, not a mermaid’s tail, yet not human feet either.

I swallowed hard as my throat dried. My mind raced with questions. What was she? Who was she?

Suddenly, the water split as she rose in front of me. She looked nothing like before. Her body gleamed under the moonlight.

A green and white bra made of pearls and seashells clung to her chest.

The matching bottom was layered with pearls and shimmered each time she shifted.

Water streamed down her skin as she tilted her head, her eyes locked on mine.

But her face was completely dry. Even her hair was dry. No matter how deep she went, she emerged dry within seconds.

Then I stared at her feet, trying to understand what I was seeing. My hands quickly clutched beside my body. I think she noticed my constant staring.
