Alpha's Secret Bride-Chapter 72: Brandon’s Low Moment
Brandon was awake all through the night prior, so when he got to his chamber, he slept off. He opened his eyes and a weird feeling of sadness assailed his wolf. He looked at his communication device and saw more than twenty missed calls. He had his bath first before going through the call records.
The first call came from Kyro Zyren, the techie he-wolf he gave the DVR from Lunara’s chamber. He quickly dialed his number.
"Kyro"
"My Moon Prince!"
"Did you see anything?"
"Prince....I....I..."
"Kyro!"
"I want to return the DVR, young Alpha."
"What did you see?"
"I... couldn’t bypass the security and I don’t think any wolf can hack it."
"Alright," he said after a few seconds. He knew he was lying. He is one of the best techie he-wolves in the territory. His curiosity surged again.
"Please, send it to the royal den and make sure it doesn’t get into the wrong hands. I must see the footage."
"Alright, young alpha."
The next call came from the royal healer. He dialed his number as he headed to the private chamber in the royal healing den where his mate was. The weird sad feeling came upon his wolf again. It was as if a part of his wolf was paralyzed. He slowed down immediately as an inexplicable feeling of emptiness began to take hold of him. His guards that were walking swiftly behind him did the same.
He didn’t know why he felt the night wasn’t going to be good at all. Probably, because of the sad feelings he had within his wolf, that kept intensifying. He couldn’t wait to see his mate. He increased his steps again.
However, his stomach clenched and his head spun when he opened the door and discovered she was not in the chamber. With the sight of her maid who was crying in a corner and the sad feeling that took over his wolf, he didn’t need to be told that she had left him.
He walked towards the window with his two hands in his pockets. His heart was aching and bleeding, but he tried so hard to conceal it. He hadn’t shed tears before his guards and he didn’t want them to notice his mate was his weakness. They knew he loved her, but none of them except Bernard and Richard knew how weak and miserable he could be if anything happened to Emma. His mind began to wander and his brain created fearful images. He lost control of his emotions instantly. He couldn’t mask his feelings anymore.
"Did she tell you where she was going?" He asked with tears in his eyes.
"No, alpha, but Paige said she would call me as soon as they reach their final destination."
"Why didn’t you stop her?"
"Alpha, we tried, but she was so insistent."
"It never occurred to you that I should be notified?"
"The healer called, but you were not picking up, alpha."
He sniffed and faced the window again. His wolf was trembling as if something bad had happened to her. Knowing that one of her maids left with her didn’t give him enough hope and assurance that he needed at the moment. He just wanted to be with her because she is safe with him only. He wanted to hold her in his arms while he looked into her eyes and assured her that she was safe with him.
He didn’t blame her for leaving. He understood completely what she was going through. He experienced it the day she kissed a he-wolf in his presence. His packland fell apart that day and he lost his senses. It took him six months to behave normally again. However, he blamed her for not hearing from him before leaving. He blamed her for yielding to Lunara’s manipulation.
"If she knew how obsessed he is with her, she wouldn’t have left him! If she knew who her mate is very well, she wouldn’t have gone! He’s going to find her and bring her back! He doesn’t care how long it will take him! She can’t leave him all alone in their packland!" He shouted and pushed a flower vase that was beside him away as though it would have found a way to stop her. The vase fell to the ground and made a chattering noise. "Moonblessed, wherever you are, just have it in the back of your head that Brandon Oliver Frostbane is coming!" He continued yelling and breaking things. His guards tried to control him, but he was too aggressive to be controlled. His voice attracted more guards in the High Realm and they came in and began to control him. 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
"Come to my chamber and arrange her things, we are going back to my place tonight," he murmured before turning to leave the chamber. He saw Elara, leaning on the door with tears in her eyes too. Apparently, she had heard what happened and was very sad. She loves his mate very much. Elara quickly threw herself at him when he moved closer. He held her tight as they sobbed uncontrollably.
"Please, go after her," she whispered. "Mother is sending Lunara to your pack estate to take her position. She has packed her bags already."
"They can do what they like. My concern now is my mate," he said and held her hand as they walked slowly out of the chamber.
"I’m going with her."
"Why?"
"I don’t trust her around you. Her heart is full of evil. I don’t want anything to happen to you."
"Don’t worry, I’ll be fine."
"Brandon, no! She is evil. I wonder what mother and father see in her."
"My mate figured out what they saw in her, but the king sent for her before she could tell me anything."
Elara halted and stared surprisingly at him. "You mean there is another reason aside from being the one the Divine gave you?"
"Yes," he murmured weakly. "We are going back to the pack estate tonight."
"I’m coming with you," Elara said and freed his hand.
"I think her escape was planned. She was aided by someone," Elara murmured as if she knew something.
"Why do you think so?"
"The power outage that happened a few hours ago."
"There was a power outage?"
"Yes, where were you?"
"I was in my chamber, sleeping."
"The outage lasted for ten minutes only and no crystal eye captured her. This is beyond Lunara, I suspect mother."
"My priority is to find her," he said. "I’m leaving tonight."
"Alright," she said, turned, and headed in the direction of her chamber. Probably to get a few of her things.
Naomi packed his mate’s personal items in her small bag. She kept searching everywhere for something to the extent that he became curious.
"What are you searching for?"
"Her communication device."
"Didn’t she go with it?"
"No, someone sent a device to her."
"Who?"
"I don’t know, but it was a he-wolf."
He sat upright, his tears dried up instantly and his heart began to thud noisily.
"How do you know it was a he-wolf?"
"She called him ’alpha’ when she was talking to him on a communication device."
"Daniel!" He whimpered and stood up from the chair. He called and threatened her yesterday. Elara was right. Lunara and her father planned everything.
Bernard lit a cigar for him to help calm his wolf down. He drew the smoke in madly and puffed out with frustration. The more he drew the smoke, the more frustrated his wolf became. He tossed the cigar aside.
"Brandon!" The King, who had just entered the chamber, called. He ignored him and kept his eyes straight.
"You are leaving tonight and you didn’t tell me?"
"Father, did she tell you she was leaving?"
"Yes"
"What did you tell her?"
"Brandon, here is a royal den."
"What did you tell her?"
"We can’t keep her here against her will."
"What did you tell her, father?"
"I encouraged her to leave."
"Without informing me?"
"Did you check your communication device?"
He grabbed his mate’s bag that was on the bed and headed towards the door. His guards followed him.
"You now walk out on me?" He said and Brandon halted immediately.
"Brandon, I need to know your plans for the forthcoming mating preparation. What are your plans?"
"Father, for the umpteenth time; there is no mating preparation! Nothing will ever make me mate with that dev!l! I would rather abdicate than mate with her."
"You will do no such thing, Brandon! You are the heir apparent!"
"Elara is a great she-wolf, she can rule the High Realm."
"What do you want me to do," the king asked with a low tone.
"Call the mating preparation off, father."
"I can’t"
"Find someone that will stand as the groom. I am already mates with Emma."
"She has gone for good."
"I’m going after her."
"And if you didn’t find her?"
"I will remain unmated for the rest of my unhappy life."
"Lunara is the one for you."
"Father, I want to ask you just one question. Please, I just need an honest answer."
"Okay"
"Why do you want me to mate with her?"
"I told you several times. Alexandra and I invited a he-wolf with an extraordinary gift four years ago to confirm what Lunara’s family told us. He confirmed that Lunara is a special gift from the moon goddess. If you give her a chance, you will be given great power to overcome your enemies. Your bond will bring more progress to the entire packland. I want you to overlook her attitude and mate with her."
"How can I mate with her when I can’t stand her presence for three minutes? Father, that she-wolf is evil personified. She is on a mission to destroy this bloodline and stop my mate, but I’m going to expose her soon."
"If she was on a mission to destroy us, she would have done it since she came here. Move close to her and enjoy the beautiful gift moon goddess gave you, young alpha. I’m tired of explaining this to you each time you visit the royal den. The mating preparations continue. Do not allow this bloodline to swim in a sea of shame and disgrace."
"I have heard you; can I go now?"
"Sure, you can," he said with a deceptive grin. "Lunara is going with you; has your mother told you?"
"No"
"You guys need to be together and learn to love one another. She is your destined mate."
"She might be the one for me. I noticed she fell in love with me the first day she saw me. Probably, her destiny beckoning. But fate has her own plans for me, father. Fate guided my wolf to Emma. She is my whole packland. My love for her burns like an eternal flame. No amount of rain can extinguish the flames raging in my heart for her. Please, tell Lunara not to expect anything from me," he said, and left the chamber.
