Chapter 71: Emma Finally Left Brandon

Emma opened her eyes slowly and felt weak and dizzy. She noticed there was an absence of emotion in her wolf. She was supposed to be sad because of the ugly memory she had last night, but she was just numb. She tried to change position, but a hand held her firmly. She looked at the wolf that was trying to control her hand.

"Moon-fall, Luna," Paige greeted. She took her eyes off her and stared at the Intravenous drip at the back of her palm and sighed. The drip was not what she needed at the moment. Getting out of the royal den was all she wanted.

She heard two she-wolves’ voices and a he-wolf’s voice behind her, but she didn’t know what they were dragging. One of the voices belonged to Naomi. It was as if she and a he-wolf healer assigned to her were trying to stop a she-wolf who wanted to deliver a message to her.

She carefully loosened the tape and Tegaderm surrounding the Intravenous drip insertion site. She held the gauze and gently pulled the Intravenous cannula out of her palm. Paige, who was staring at the wolves arguing at the door, did not notice she had removed her drip.

She rolled out of bed and she felt empty, light, and lonely.

"Emma, please sit," the healer ran to her and tried to guide her back to bed.

"What does she want?" She whimpered with a weak tone. "She wants to see you, but the Alpha..."

"Let her in," she interrupted. She didn’t want to hear anything about their so-called Alpha. She didn’t even want to see him again.

"Please, come in," Paige said slowly. A young she-wolf in a healer’s uniform walked into the chamber.

"What do you want?" she asked, without looking at her.

"Can I talk to you in private?" she asked. She looked at Naomi and Paige. They shook their heads and looked away.

"They are my maids; you can deliver the message."

The she-wolf leaned forward and whispered into her ear.

"The King wants to talk to you."

"Where is he?" she asked.

"Take," she gave her a device. She took the device from her and was surprised it was connected to another device all this while.

"Moon-fall, High Alpha King."

"Emma, how are you?"

"I’m fine."

"Can you come to my chamber now?"

"No, Alpha."

"Why?"

"I want to go."

"Yeah, you told me last night and I support your decision." 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝓮𝒘𝙚𝙗𝒏𝙤𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝒐𝙢

"Thank you."

"We do not keep wolves here against their wishes. You are a good she-wolf and I’m going to support you."

"Thank you, but I don’t need your support. It will attract him and I don’t want to ever see him or any member of your bloodline or my pack-kins."

"As long as you remain in this territory, you must see him. If you don’t want to see him again, then you need to leave the territory."

"I... I..."

"Don’t worry, I know where you’d like to go and your papers are ready."

"Which territory?" she asked.

"Your parents’."

"Where?"

"Finland Territory."

She was surprised and didn’t say anything. Wolves often told her that she looked more like a Thailand she-wolf, probably because of her height and wolf-fur shade. She was supposed to be excited because she was going to meet her parents, especially her mother, but she didn’t know why she wasn’t. She just felt empty and detached. Meeting her blood -mother was one of the things she looked forward to, but she didn’t know why it seemed she did not need her anymore.

"Is she aware that I’m coming?"

"Yes, according to your father."

"Does she want to see me?"

"She can’t wait to see you."

"Me too," she said. Finally, my father kept his promise, but he kept it when I did not need it.

"Did she tell you why she left me and fled back to her territory?"

"No."

"Alright."

"Do not hesitate to call me if you need anything."

"I can’t thank you enough."

"Don’t worry, you deserve everything good," he said with a low tone. "The she-wolf that gave you the device will lead you to the northern entrance of the royal den. A car is there as I’m talking to you. He will lodge you in a resting den. I have also booked a first-class flight for you. The driver will take you down to the sky-port at the right time. Your mother will receive you as soon as you get to Finland Territory. Please, do not switch your device off. I’d like to keep in touch. Save this number and always call me."

"Thank you very much," she said coldly. She had always wanted to meet her and find out what had transpired between her and her parents, but now, she didn’t see the need for the truth.

She stood up slowly and began to walk behind the young she-wolf the King sent to her. Naomi and Paige walked behind her too.

"Paige, please wait here."

"No, Luna, we are going with you."

"Naomi!"

"Please, Luna."

"Don’t call me that again and don’t follow me. Please, go back to him," she said casually. They stood in the middle of the chamber staring at her with tears in their eyes. She didn’t care about their tears.

It was time for dinner and the whole royal den looked deserted. They did not bump into any guards or royal maids until they got to the northern entrance of the royal den. The car that was waiting to take her away opened slowly when she moved closer.

She was about to enter when she saw a tall figure coming toward her. Everywhere was dark so she couldn’t see her face clearly. She already knew who it was and she didn’t care anymore. After all, it was her fate.

She pointed the torch she was holding directly into her eyes and burst into laughter. She lowered her gaze like a typical loser.

"I want to see the face of the loser. The face of the butterfly that calls herself a bird because she has tiny wings," she smirked. "You forgot birds have stronger wings and no matter how well you are fed, you can never be like them. Living another wolf’s life is like a fairy tale. At first, everything looks blossomy until you wake up to an awful reality. Your sweet dreams! Just when you thought it was about to get sweeter, you suddenly wake up to reality," she smirked again. "Just when you thought you had branded yourself the ’Alpha’s Secret Bride,’ reality struck!"

"Emma, I am smarter than you. When I heard he was mated, I knew it was you. I was unhappy because he betrayed me, but he has apologized and also made it up to me. I have forgiven him and the mating rites continue," she smirked. Her words did not make her feel bad or good. She wasn’t happy for her, and neither was she sad.

"Congrats," she said, turned her face, and entered the car. She frowned, probably because her words, which were meant to send her into another depression, did not pierce.

She was not heartbroken at all because her heart died last night. She had no heart again. She just had to keep living until her empty wolf joined the dead heart.

The driver moved as soon as she entered. She left with nothing—no clothes, no silver—but she didn’t care. He suddenly stopped when he saw a she-wolf running toward the car.

"Please, move the car."

"Wait..." he said and wound down. "What do you want?"

"I’m coming with her," Paige said, standing in front of the bonnet.

"Move this car!" she said.

"Crush her and go to the dungeon? This is not what you want. Please talk to her," the driver urged.

She got down from the car and began to move toward the bonnet. Paige ran past her and jumped into the rear side of the car through the front seat. She entered and continued telling her the need to go back as the driver moved, but her mind was made up.

She quickly called the King and informed him.

"Go with her. An agent will meet you at the resting den for flight arrangements. I’m going to cancel your flight. Please, do not allow her to talk to any wolf. She will be given a Visa on arrival."

"Thank you, Alpha," she said and ended the call. "Paige, can I have your bag?" She grinned and gave Emma her small handbag. She checked the bag thoroughly and saw her identity scroll, communication device, and some silver. She wound down the glass and threw her device away. She did not question her. She just accepted her decision. It seemed going with her was all she wanted.

The driver took them to a resting den that was very close to the sky-port. A he-wolf opened the door for her with a smile. She looked at his face; she didn’t know him, but she noticed he was also under instruction. He led them to a chamber that was booked for them already. She stared at the time on the device she was holding—it was 9:30 PM. Paige entered the wash chamber and began to prepare water for bathing. She didn’t know how to explain to her that she was no longer their so-called Alpha’s mate.

The he-wolf who showed them their chamber came back with a small traveling bag and dropped it on the table beside her.

"Your father gave you this."

"No, take it back to him. I don’t need anything from him."

"It’s not for you; it’s for your mother."

"What’s inside?" she asked, moving toward the bag. He unzipped the bag and showed her. They were throwback pictures of her and her mother. She was just a pup. She took one of the pictures out and fixed her gaze on the she-wolf that gave birth to her. She wasn’t excited at all and did not feel like looking at the rest. She dropped the picture back and he zipped the bag.

The agent came back that night and booked a same-day flight ticket for Paige and her. After a few hours, they were at the sky-port, going through security rites.

Andrea-78, thank you so much for the Golden Ticket—I truly appreciate your support! 🤍
